I'm not gonna defend the ump on his ability (IDK why MLB tolerates such shoddy umping), but from an integrity perspective it may just have been a case where a certain pitcher's repertoire and command on a particular night was fooling the ump, too, much more so than the opposing pitchers were.

They're four games out of the last wild card spot with four games left to play. Calling their playoff chances thin is an understatement.

Magic number for the division is 2 for both O's & Rangers.

Mariners lost the 1st 2 of their series w/the Stros. Their situation is now super critical.

Jays & Backs each have 2 game leads for the 2nd WC w/4 games to play.

Cubs lose while Marlins split a DH to forge a tie for the remaining WC slot. Cincy can not take advantage of losses above them & are 1.5 GB w/3 to play.

According to multiple reports after the game, Neris made a slew of homophobic comments directed to J-Rod. Not sure what spurred all this though.

Neris was suspended for multiple games earlier in the season for throwing at the M's. Seems the M's should be mad at him not the other way around. Looks like he'll be suspended again. Another example of classy behavior by the Astros.

I had a dream last night. It was Game 7, bottom 9th, bags are stacked, two outs, 3-2 count, and Angel Hernandez has the plate. Woke up drenched in sweat and crying for my mommy.

I have to question why the home plate ump even let the catcher appeal to 3rd. It wasn't even close to a swing.

Marlins at Mets suspended in top of 9th after Miami had scored two to take a 2-1 lead. The game is currently scheduled to be completed on Monday, Oct. 2. The interesting question is, will the game actually be completed if it has no bearing on any playoff qualifications?

If it is not completed, the rule used to be the score would revert to the last completed inning, which would turn the game into a Mets win from its current status as a potential Mets loss.
