If I see any, I'll give the warning, as well.

Edit: removed stutter.

I agree but like i said before i dont think Markus goes by what the competition does as much as he takes the feedback from us.
Of course if we play some other game and mention the feature the competition has helped but i dont think Markus or Shaun put in something just because the other one has it.
But you are right in that they may take something from another game and put it in if it works and the customers want it.
I dont think theres anything bad about freindly competition but i also think that we as ootp customers give Markus enough ideas for Markus to work on every year as i am sure Shaun's cusotmers do too.
I think that is where a game can improve the most by its realtionship with its customers.
If you dont listen to the customers then sooner or later the game wont be around.
Unless of course you are EA and can put out a crappy product with or without competition.

Markus has definitely stolen ideas from Championship Manager in the past.

It was quite strange when the company, SI Games, that distributed the only game I played for 4 years, brought under its wing the game I replaced it with on my hard drive these past three years.

And it now seems OOTP will take a giant leap further into resembling/emulating Championship Manager, now Football Manager.

How is it good news? Well, I think unless you think a post saying, "OOTP is not the best baseball sim out there" would be good news, this post should be considered good news.

Hey, MD. I just want to ask a question. You have said in this thread that back in the OOTP1 days, it was the only career sim for baseball. Wasn't Baseball Mogul out if not before, around that same time? I bought my first version of BM in 1998 I believe.

It amazes me how more often than not, Malleus' posts are usually very good attempts at being informative like this one, yet somehow it always tends to go awry by people who seemingly have it in for him. I don't get it.

Other than <0>, no one took personal issue with MD, they took issue with the thrust of his "information". Is that not allowed?

No, what I wrote was "OOTP was the only career-oriented manager-based text PC baseball game extant." Baseball Mogul was a GM-only-based game at the time (I'm an original BM customer myself).

You answered your own question: "it always tends to go awry by people who seemingly have it in for him," if you delete "seemingly."

Have we been in the same thread? Go back to the beginning and re-examine it, starting with DD's sniping.

DD wasn't going after you personally, he was going after your content. Like I said.

If you pay attention, it turns out that those few people are consistently the same people - or their aliases.

Read the threads in which this happens. I'm here to discuss computer baseball and related issues. Other people, bearing old grudges, just want to attack/fight/harass. I follow the board rules. They don't. If you read the other comments in this thread from Carlton, Eugene Church, and such, it's pretty clear that the real baseball crowd here - as opposed to the OT crowd - is starting to figure this out themselves.

False. Either you missed his comment "of course, if Mal would just use the search feature, he'd find that this was pretty much just covered." or you have chosen to be blind to it.

That's a cheap shot designed to provoke a reaction and a fight. It had nothing at all to do with content; it was all about old grudges.

It was one line in a post responding to your original post. It was also a joke. If I say that you should maybe have not taken it so seriously and gotten defensive would I be personally attacking you? You seem to make it a point that people are following you around and harassing you and indeed since I have been here you have been involved in countless scraps. It's not unreasonable even to say that most every thread you are involved in turns in to being a thread about you, including this one. Do you think that you bear any responsibility for that?

Anyway, I'm out. The original point of the thread has been lost and now it's just MD vs. all comers. Been there, done that.

Well, I was actually mocking you with the first reply. DD disagreed with you which doesn't constitute a personal attack.
