Teaches you all for taking what looked to be the "gimmie".
Is this the hardest season to predict so far in recent memory? Week 1 went left, week 2 went right. Good to see the Dolphins took a second and third round pick and turned them into AJ Feeley and Lamar Gordon. I'd hate to have drafted players with those picks. In all fairness, I'm holding judgement about the two of them for now, as Feeley is still the best quarterback they have right now (although I'd still like to see Sage Rosenfels take a few snaps), and Lamar Gordon isn't going to work well until he's given a playbook that was actually meant for him in the backfield. I still think the Dolphins have a shot at 8-8. Their defense is still their defense. It's just that their offense has no identity. I think that once they get solidified, they'll be ok. 8 new starters out of 11 offensive players, most of whom weren't starters previously.

That's why I said that I wasn't passing judgement on them yet. Gordon has had the playbooks for all of two weeks now, if that, so the fact that he's even able to contribute in the slightest is nice to see. At the same time, it kind of shows the confidence the Dolphins staff has in Travis Minor/Leonard Henry/Sammy Morris/etc.
I think out of all the things that the Dolphins dropped the ball on this offseason, their handling of their offensive line situation was the worst. Signing Jeno James wasn't a bad start, but nothing else of value followed, while letting Jamie Nails disappear into nothingness (he's still available, guys!) and Todd Wade go to Houston via free agency (the Dolphins seriously underestimated his value), and Tim Ruddy disappeared. I mean... what happened to these guys? Are Nails and Ruddy so bad that no one wants them? O-line has to be the position I know least about in football. Former all-pros disappear from there all the time. And I can understand the "let the young guys play and develop and see if they're worth keeping around" philosophy, but if you're going to do that, why do you that, why trade and get Gordon? As Bill Simmons said, "If you've got a choice of going 3-13 and keeping a 3rd round pick or going 4-12 and having Lamar Gordon, don't you pick 3-13?"

Bill Simmons is usually right on about these things. I don't act unless I have read a Sport's Guy article.

Actually, Astros02 picked Miami in the prior week's thread to lose this week - he's still in. PS - even though my team lost, I should have gone with my gut and picked the Steelers and saved TB for a gimme loss on another week. Ah, well.

Thanks Dan. I just got back in town after a week, so I didn't have a chance to post in this thread.

I thought I would regret picking my favorite team, but I'm pleased. Now, Vikes, don't lose one more game.
