This is a great game.


My FHM12 wishes: make a release that refines what is already in the game instead of introducing new features.


Main points:


Update and correct league rules including related game functionality in NA and EU leagues.
Trading system only really works great in NHL. Make Trading (Trade offerings etc.) work in all NA and major EU leagues correctly. Make it fun and more interactive.
Explain tactics a lot better, but not only for beginners. Maybe use AI/ChatGPT to generate more explanatory texts/mouse overs. Explain why certain tactics are good or bad for a specific player or even a unit based on their skills. Explain why the ingame engine sets up certain units the way it does.
Further improve generated players in the future, their skills and developments. There should be strong and weak years, but skills should make sense and should be developed more "naturally". It would be great, if you could make this work for 20-30 years ahead.

Moddable Database to allow for easier and more in depth modifications of the data, or even better, a ''live start'' option to play as of the current date and rosters. (Current Day NHL is my preference)

Being able to Edit the Database without starting a quick-save would be awesome,
Every time I start a new season I find myself almost exhausted with editing players attributes and giving handfuls of veteran players the charisma ability, and other players other special abilities as well. Handing out a zillion no movement clauses to important players so they don't get sent down to the AHL for no reason.

I hope to see the developers working on the way teams value players and prospects, basically polishing the meat and potatoes of the game. Its frustrating after a few years to see so many top prospects and youngsters with so much potential in the waiver wire ...

I don't want to say the game is broken, but its alot of extensive babysittiing ! It's tiring.... it takes people away from focusing on they're teams and sucks the fun out of the entire game to be quite blunt.

I'll still back the developers though as with such a small team they have came a long ways over the years, I just wish the game was more like OOTP baseball at this stage, I wouldn't even care if it was a copy and paste at this point!

One QoL item I wish was available playing in the CHL:

When I get an email with a list of prospects from a tournament or upcoming draft, I wish there was a way to bulk add them all to the watch list instead of having to right-click on each individual player in the email.

26/27 season but they should be turned on starting that season. Currently when we hit that season, there is a compliance buyout period which does not look like it will be part of the new CBA.

how about these changes:
- in commissioner mode ability to unretire a player at any point (or at least up to 1 year after)
- convert retired players to coaches (like OOTP has)
- ability to change team structure in non-nhl leagues (like European)

My wish:

The ability to just be a head coach. Which means the GM is still in his job at whatever club you are at. Instead of just leaving GM duties to your Assistant.

A QoL improvement I'd really like is the ability to toggle through historical logos/jerseys to use during current roster start games. Maybe at the team edit screen and not have to go into the saved games graphics folder and change it with every new save

QOL improvements:
  • Incorporate the Retina bug fix for Mac users by default.
  • Ensure the UI text display, layout, look of controls, etc., on a scaled resolution Retina display looks good for us older folks to see without squinting.
  • Better default skins. The dark one is ok but the light one doesn't work in some controls, such as the transaction log where alternating rows are black and covers the up the text, making it illegible.
  • When I get an email from my head scout saying "here are the top 60 players for the CHL import draft", I would like a button to apply all of them to my watch list rather than needing to right-click and manually add each one of them. The option to "bulk-add" a list of players from an email should apply to any email from a scout that is showing a list of players.
  • In the watch list, I often have hundreds of players and manually removing them is painful. I rarely want to clear all of them, so I will filter them down to a more reasonable list. But even then, I need to manually remove maybe 20-25 players. It would be great if there was a "Clear Filtered Players" button that would remove the currently displayed players that passed the filter.

I agree with all the commentors who said that they would prefer to see AI and QoL changes before any new systems are added.

That said here are some features I would like to have changed
- More draft conditions (playoff rounds, lowest/highest of two picks, traded player scores x amount of points)
- Career-ending injuries and LTIRetirement
- A separation of IR and LTIR. Right now IR players don't count against the cap but you can still accrue cap space, which is a bit easy to exploit.
- More transparent training, tactics, and chemistry systems. I barely look at chemistry (it does not help that it is shown on the "Bio" tab which always loads very slowly fo rme)
- Scouting is already a strength of the game but I think it could be improved. I like one of the other posters' suggestion that you should be able to ask your scouts to find specific types of player. I think that scouting reports should also give an idea of what kind of tactical role a player would be suitable for (or projects to be). Right now it's hard to scout without looking at the exact attribute values or tactical role scores, but too easy if you do look at them. I think that the "default" amount of information should be somewhere between what is available now and the fog of war setting; you'll have some idea of what kind of player they are and their approximate attributes but not full information like for your own players. I also think that a ceiling/floor estimation might be useful for scouting. Right now the potential is not really either of those since it can both increase or decrease throughout a player's development. A projected ceiling should only really decrease (except in edge cases) while a floor should only ever rise (again, barring extreme cases).
- Development and aging should be modified. I've said this before for previous versions, but I think mental abilities shouldn't decline as players age, if anything, they should sometimes improve). I think there should also be a way for players to "reinvent" themselves as they get older, for example offensive-power forward types becoming grinders, scorers becoming cerebral defenders, etc.

Please take a look at your algorithm for determining players of the game. I've seen so many times where no goalies get a star on a 0-0 tie. It also seems to value secondary assists more than goals.

My wishlist:

1. Realistic frenzy for July 1, Trade Deadline, and the draft with trades

-Should have some back and forth on deadline day with other teams reaching out with offers to you and a list of names available. Can have a few rounds and offers can change and a live list of completed trades, Want to experience the real life frenzy of the day. With defined sellers/buyers/status quo teams. Buyers should be dealing picks/prospects. Sellers should want those and not older players. Obviously blockbuster deals sometimes.

-Same with free agency. Can have agents reaching out asking if youÂ’re interested in their client.You make offers and then itÂ’s a back and forth on July 1.A few rounds of this before advancing to July 2.

-Really should be more movement and offers on deadline day.Again other teams reaching out for offers. A list of whose available.

- Would like to be able to hire assistant coaches from other teams, especially to fill head coaching roles. NHL assistants should be moving up to head coaches and leaving teams even under contract.

-Would like a history of all staff and records and team accomplishment at all levels. Coach X was an assistant here, have each year and team record. We can look back and see how staff progressed in their careers. Then have transactions of the staff member in their history too. Right now only if youÂ’re a head coach can we see history. Definitely need to see how careers evolve.
