I traded Nasdaq and NYSE for 30 years.
Can't help but try to play mean reversion strategies with my roster. But it's failed me the last two weeks (bad gets worse, good just treads water). |

Well, the theme team demoted to LG, but a big bright side was I finally landed the card we wanted above all others, put every PP available into a buy order for 100 Jackie Robinson and someone bit. So far he's been everything we could have hoped for; already as the best player on the roster and a very solid 20-13 start overall.

I'm a big OOTP supporter. Playing on and off since 2003. Love PT more than regular game because player scouting/development there is boring as hell. Still have hopes for this PT season but the elephant in the room is how dead this board is (2 months in) compared to prior years. I can't believe OOTP is paying for all the new artwork, cards, tourneys with the whales plus whoever else is playing now. And what a pyrrhic victory to win Perfect Team if no one is watching.

These forums aren't a good measure of interest. There's endless chatter on Discord, which is really the primary source now.

I used to play, and took some time off. Bought in about a month ago. Had a F2P team which got all the drops, and a $50 invested team.
Actually qualified for the PTCS for the first time ever. Had a bronze team that had some really good runs. Had absolute dog crap pack luck the entire time, which just killed my interest off. What good is getting packs when they don't bring you anything at all of value? Going to invest my time elsewhere for a while.

A pleasant surprise in High Gold has been Roger Clemens. He's a 97 who routinely outperforms my 100s. I've gotten 2 good and 1 average season out of him so far as a starter, and he came out of a pack.
13-9 record with 3.09 ERA and 7-3 record with 3.26, also a 5-5 record. Last edited by Hawkwing7423; 06-07-2025 at 05:06 PM. |

Just reached the HD playoffs which was the goal for the season. The team is crap compared to its rivals so will now happily watch it slide down the leagues without much more time invested.
Haven’t pulled a diamond for ages but strangely got Bill Byrd in the penultimate pack I just opened. Shoutout to the twitch affiliate’s and the official channel as they broadcast some excellent stuff as well as providing the bonus packs to open.

Dear Diary,
I haven't missed a day of logging in since PT24, but that streak might have to come to an end soon. The game is just boring. Good cards aren't good, missions are non-existent or the rewards don't justify the costs and the packs just keep giving out the same awful cards. I'm not sure who this game is targeted to, but it certainly isn't the same people who enjoyed it the last couple of years. If only the motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applied to PT25 we'd probably be in a better place. |

They broke 25 with Combinators, and now tournament success is just a dream unless you want to spend untold amounts of points on Variants. Missions are being strangled in 26. The powers that be are telling us to choose between league and tournaments, and the focus is clearly on the latter...
unless, of course, we want to break out the wallet and start spending. Not happening for me. I just chose to buy a new guitar rather than sink those hundreds into OOTP. League championships are fleeting. A good guitar lasts forever. |

I won't shoot for the top unless OOTP gives me something I can put on the wall. I suggested NFTs. still not a bad idea. I suggested true sports gambling. still not a bad idea.
In the meantime, getting my $49.95 worth in leagues. The 'leagues' is just a psyop. The best baseball often down in the trenches. |

You get a physical trophy if you win Perfect League.

Interesting. Are there plaques for 2nd through 5th place? If not, why not?
Also would love to see cash paid by PT 20 to PT 25 winners so see what is really required to 'win'. Not being mean. Love this game more than BB fantasy leagues. But if this is OOTP stuff, there are 50 ways to make it better and more profitable to OOTP. |

Multiple relievers were over 7 ERA in my season in Low Diamond.
Old stalwarts like Fernando Valenzuela, Roger Clemens, Sam McDowell, and Ramon Martinez were having a bad year. So I pulled those traitors Stan Coveleski and Satchel Paige back into service. Satchel Paige has a couple mediocre outings so far, but Stan Coveleski is back to his old tricks. First appearance, 5 ER in 0.1 innings for a 135 ERA. Not 13.5, one hundred and thirty five. Second appearance, he brought his ERA all the way down to 22.50 with 1.2 relief innings and no earned runs. |

Relievers are getting more and more useless in PT. Maybe one gonzo reliever as closer, but the rest of the slots are better off being filled by starters.

My Nolan Ryan is broken now... 0 and 6 in 8 starts with 6.96 ERA. Nolan is not a fan of 1996.

Quote:
Nolan Ryan - 11 GS, 0-7, 6.10 ERA. Roy Halladay - 11 GS, 2-4, 5.37 ERA. Chris Sale - 8 GS, 1-3, 4.60 ERA. I don't get it. Halladay and 101 Sale seem to have great stats but they don't outperform Dave Stieb. How is that possible? Jackson Jobe with worse stats is also outperforming both of these. I just got the 101 Chris Sale, not much data, but Roy Halladay only had 1 winning season for me out of 3 so far. Halladay has better stats than Stieb almost across the board but is always worse, in my experience so far. It seems like the way to win in this game is mostly get the best cards, then pray to the RNG gods. Last edited by Hawkwing7423; 06-18-2025 at 11:35 AM. |
