A sort of halfway-related question: How does the licensing situation in OOTP differ to the one in FHM? There does exist an "Import League" option when creating a save file there, and among the available options are several international leagues. I haven't played around with it much, so I can't confirm as to how accurate the imported leagues are to their real counterparts. However, I also seem to recall that a lot of the available importable leagues are for hockey leagues that don't exist anymore.

Is international hockey just more organized (e.g. the IIHF existing) than international pro baseball, making it less of a risk to include international ice hockey? (while that International Baseball/Softball Federation exists, I hadn't heard of it before they mandated Power Pros as the baseball game that will be used for the upcoming Olympics eSports competitions a while back)

This is an excellent point. OOTP users are really asking more for templates than exact leagues. After all, you can edit a template into whatever you want (which may be the point of contention though) but it does SEEM a bit hypocritical that this is allowed in one franchise and not the other??

FHM was not purchased by COM2US to the best of my knowledge.

In fact, per Steam, the developer is game54 software and OOTPD.
It is published by OOTPD.

This may be why FHM is not concerned about using fake unlicensed leagues
That acquisition is still one of the strangest I have seen.

They have no presence on the forums, Discord or Reddit.

Besides their logo on the splash screen when you first open OOTP, if I did not follow this forum, I would have zero idea that a deal even went down.
Their website makes zero mention of OOTP.
The English one at least, I navigated the Korean language website the best I could, and I never found an OOTP logo.

Their social media accounts make zero mention of OOTP as well.
The only mention I have ever seen was last year on launch day, the COM2US English Twitter account, retweeted the OOTPD Twitter account about the release.
They could not even announce the release on their own Twitter? Or announce a release date? Or announce when the game goes on sales from time to time?

Just very weird.
I guess in some ways, it is good that they do not seem to be too involved in the development of the game or the day to day.
But I am still not 100% sure they did not just get bored during the pandemic like the rest of us and decide to purchase OOTP on a whim

Like me going on my Amazon account and looking back at my orders during 2020 and thinking 'why in the hell did I spend €300 on a 20,000 piece puzzle?'

COM2US's logo is the first thing you see for the FHM10 trailer so they must of bought it as well.

Then I am even more baffled. I did not know they had also purchased that game as well.

If someone cared, they could make a mod for it. Simple as that.

The price they are asking is clearly prohibitive... should the likely more than 90% of users who don't care be burden with some exorbitant cost added to the price of the game so that a few can have some obscure, low-competition league included?

yes, obscure.. otherwise it wouldn't only be the elite players from japan that pan out in the MLB... and some of those are barely mediocre in the MLB and some do fail.

These are "small time" baseball leagues and they shouldn't be greedy, and the bulk of customers shouldn't pay any significantly extra fee so that so few can have their esoteric demands met, lol. Irrational behaviour...
