You must be new to the gaming industry. MLB The Show 21 did the same thing three weeks ago and then laid out their weekly presentation for new features.

It is basically the same thing.

I've probably been playing computer games longer than you've been alive. For the record, I have no intention of buying The Show 21 as I have zero interest in what they are doing this year. I buy a lot of games, and I can say I can't recall ever seeing a developer offering pre-order before giving product features, even on a new version or iteration of an existing game. And if I ever have seen such a thing I wouldn't have pre-ordered it. If I go into a restaurant I've been to many times I'm certainly going to say 'give me fish' without knowing what kind of fish I'm ordering.

Just because you can pre-order today doesn't mean you have to. It's not like the pre-order window is closing before they reveal the features. I actually started to pre-order when I saw the notice but decided to hold off because I realized it said nothing about new features. Even so, I've bought every version since OOTP3, so I kinda know what I'm getting by now.

There's no need for the condescending tone. I'm actually probably the same age as you if not older. EVERY console game has been doing this, especially annual releases. NCAA 14 did the same thing when it came out. It's just a 2021 thing.

We get it. Moving on...

Irrelevant attempt to change the focus. What the fanatics don't seem to get, though, and what you obviously wish to keep shifting away from, is that it's atypical to offer something for sale without saying what it is. The fact that people are willing to buy it based on previous versions just indicates that they are content with more of the same. I, personally, probably won't be buying OOTP22, because, as I've previously stated, I'm not content with more of the same. I even find it offensive that you are shilling your product hoping that the sycophants will buy it sight unseen. However, this marketing method is poor form, even with your snarky, condescending 'no one is forcing you to pre-order.' That's obvious. Also, no one is forcing anyone to buy it at all. I'm not the only one stating these observations on these various forums. However, I am the one who doesn't care about what others think when you point out the emperor has no clothes. OOTP basically has a monopoly on the baseball management sim market, so it's no surprise that the organization can rest on its laurels and expect the fanboys to just keep opening their pockets.

Are you referring to your condescending tone when you said I must be new to the gaming industry? You're right; there's no need for that.

So you prefer developers that offer pre-orders 12 months in advance with a flowery catalogue of features, then deliver on maybe half of it?

There are numerous examples, including recent ones, of that.

No, I don't. And I would never do business with a company that listed such a feature set that I had skepticism about. However, I'd rather them reveal what their goal is than give me nothing at all to go on. Saying nothing indicates that you have nothing to say. Prepare to be underwhelmed on March 5th, I think.

And doesn't that make it good for everyone? Those who want to see the features list first can do so, then pre-order if they like. Those who have confidence in OOTP and Markus can pre-order now and enjoy the features list on March 5 or any day they choose afterwards. I don't see how anyone loses here.

Markus, any word/idea on how OOTP22 will work on a Mac with the new M1 chip? There was a thread in the 21 boards a couple weeks ago where someone asked and it got one response from a user who said 21 worked for them. I'm hoping to upgrade from my 2013 Macbook Air in a month or two, but don't want to purchase something that isn't ideal for OOTP since that's what I spend the most time using the laptop for.

Thanks.

I don't share the confidence in the product that others do. Based on your statements the idea of a pre-order with no feature list really can only be targeted at those who have the belief that they will get a product that is worth upgrading to from a previous version. As stated, I don't share that view, for various reasons. This means that offering those like me a pre-order is premature and laughable.

What kind of improvements can we expect now that we've gone 64bit?

Does that change anything in using old files or can we still keep using all our logos, jerseys, caps, photo's and facegens?

Maybe it's just me but in your shoes I would have just thought "guess I'll come back on the 5th or 12th and see what is on the list, no need to waste my time posting now. "

If, again in your shoes, I wanted to express to Markus my thoughts on this release model, and of course that is fair enough, I would do so. Nothing wrong with that but... Being on these boards, and almost any message board I've ever been to, I would expect others to weigh in. Again fair enough. Wouldn't it be easier to simply reply to the first one "we'll have to agree to disagree" and move on? Why keep spending time spamming the board? Your view is duly noted and even responded to by Markus. You've been heard by the man in charge. What is left to gain? Getting the last word? Nothing is going to change.

Now I've added to the topic when I should just let it go, But it just keeps on and on for no reason at all. I hope you either respond with a "agree to disagree let's let it die" or everyone else simply ignores your next post (if you decide to "keep on keeping on" as you're entitled to do) and this all goes away on it's own.

I'll now hit "submit reply" and not comment again on this topic feeling a bit worse than I did before

Yah, I think I'm pretty clear now on two things:
a) How you feel about the game and some long time supporters.
b) That you can pre-order now OR LATER, after changes/features are released - per the 11th post in this thread from Markus.

So. PLEASE. Just stop.
