Maybe you should create a game for us. It boggles my mind that people really think comments like these are ok, or respectful to the OOTP creators time and effort

I love ootp, I’m one of its biggest fans and will always thank Markus and his team for making the best game around. But it’s clear where their efforts go now...and as I said I can’t blame them too much as I doubt they made big bucks for a long time and now they have a chance .

A lot of passion on this thread! While I understand some of the thought and concerns and can appreciate that this game and how deep it goes means different things to different people... some of the rhetoric and comments seem slightly off the wall. Here is the truth.. the game will come out. You might like it, you might not? I personally am content with 21 for now; and if 22 seems better than I will get it. If it does not, then maybe I will stick with what I got. But a least give Markus and his team a chance to put it out. And yes.. if these thoughts help me get the free copy of 22... so be it.

Yep, a lot of freaking out for a game that hasn't come out yet. Let's see what OOTP22 actually is before breaking out the pitchforks. |

For those who think the core game was ignored last year, here's a list of new features and upgrades we got. They may not all be appealing to everyone, but any statement saying the core game was ignored last year is just not true. Quote:

Ballpark creation does not work at an acceptable level. Game Flow I don't really notice, minor improvement. Live start I guess is cool, but not something most people would use. adding in MLB rules is good yes, but something you sort of expect. scouting and drafting were very sloppily implemented, I think this forum does not think the scouting process is an improvement. it's a vague move in direction of better, but they probably will not revisit and improve it. the 3D and the interface improved slightly, those clearly had the most time put into them as they are not necessarily "core" game features but can be applied to Perfect Team. my point is "core" game to me is solo dynasty play, I understand that's not where they make money any more and that's why they don't work that hard on developing it. AI roster construction continues to be bad, financials for all clubs continue to run like they did basically 10 years ago, confusingly and not at all dynamically, owner and storylines are probably 40% finished and don't play out realistically at all, etc, etc. these type of features had a few days work put into them years ago and then are basically left in the game, untouched, for years, as they focus on PT. |

In your list of new features I noticed that you missed the new and exciting feature of constant crashing and freezing problems upon release. Which, you know, might have been avoided if more time was invested in the backbone of the game and less time spent on Perfect Team and Go..... |

if you think none of the above was properly thought-out or tested, maybe you could join the beta testing team and assist the personnel trying to weed out and correct issues. i am not saying nothing slips through, or everything is perfectly corrected, but a great deal of time & effort is put out by those people to get things right and your generalization is putting down all the folks who volunteer their time and knowledge trying to keep this game as great as it is.

The small group of beta testers can only try to test as much as they can. But the game provides so many ways to personalize it that the beta group simply can't test all aspects. Once the game is released a lot more users get to test a lot more different set-ups and so bugs appear that nobody found before. This has nothing to do with the game being rushed or being sloppy. The Ballpark creation was a new feature in v21 and we all know that these things need some fine tuning from version to version.

I understand (and agree with) every single thing you just said. But the cold hard fact is '21 had more issues than it should. Could those issues have been avoided if not as much time was spent on PT? Maybe. I understand that fully beta testing something as in-depth as OOTP is virtually impossible. Understood and agreed. None of that changes the fact that some people had to quit using the game because of the amount of flaws it had. And as far as "putting down" the developers... they have received full purchase price from me every single year for the past 10 years. I'm able to voice some displeasure when the need arises. I would rate every single release of OOTP as an "A+" prior to '21. I literally stopped playing '21 after about a month because the freezing and crashing was too much. It was not worth my $40. If that's putting down the developers, than so be it. |

Oddly enough, I wouldn't be that upset if they decided not to put out OOTP 22 at all and just updated the roster files for 2021 season, so that they could put all the cycles needed into OOTP Go and more features into OOTP 23. Given the recent purchase of Out of the Park and the PT success, it might not hurt at all that much to wait and get more bang for our buck eventually. You could make a legit argument that, for sports titles, taking a release off about once every 10 years is actually better for the long term viability and quality of the game. Just my personal opinion.
And PLEASE DON'T take this as a rumor with any substance that this is the direction OOTP is taking. I'm not trying to ruffle feathers or get in trouble here with this observation. And there is also a big part of me that does look forward to what might be coming in OOTP 22. I'm just saying if there were a year to bypass, I can understand the reasoning. |

What kind of old ass computer you have??? I play on a six years old Dell computer and never saw a single crash in OOTP 21 and I play all my games... Only bug I have it's the attendance number for an expension team and it was fixed months ago but I didn't want to restart from 1871 when I played at least 50 years of history... |

Has nothing to do with the hardware in the machine not being able to run the game. I'd be willing to bet my specs are better than 98% of OOTP users. 32gb ram, i7 Intel Core processor, NVidia GTX 1070 video card. I should have been able to run the game 10 times over without there being an issue. Compatibility wise though, something didn't get along. Now what that "something" was, I don't know. And after a month of jerking around with it, it was no longer worth the frustration..... If you recall though, there was a sticky thread for this back when '21 was released, this wasn't just my problem. Many, many people were dealing with it. Regardless though, I'm not trying to dump on the developers. I've paid them for a product year after year and they've more than delivered quality for me, every year up until 21. So they owe me nothing. My snarky little response to a previous poster about the freeze ups was only in response to his list of 100000 new features that '21 offered. I'm looking forward to seeing what '22 has in store for us, no doubt. Last edited by md40022; 02-19-2021 at 05:43 PM. |

I'm well on my way to my usual 1,000 hours of game time with this iteration and was playing it from the point of release and can't recall any issues with crashes or freezes or whatever. Pretty much the most stable version I've played yet (admittedly, I only started with OOTP 18.)
