Milwaukee Admirals 1984-1998
For some reason, the Admiral decided to skate in the opposite direction after three seasons. He apparently liked the change, and kept it up through the 1997-98 season, with only minor cosmetic changes to the jersey in all that time.

Peoria Prancers 1982-84
One of the worst names in hockey history. Obviously, the players hated it. Case in point:
First season as Prancers: 25 wins, 62 points, last in division. Second season as Prancers: 29 wins, 66 points, next to last. First season as Rivermen: 48 wins, 105 points, first in division, won IHL championship. Clearly, the sense of relief at losing that awful moniker was huge. ![]() ![]()

Pinebridge Bucks 1983-1985
From the ridiculous deer-based name to the sublime. The smallest city to host a professional hockey team in the modern era, Spruce Pine, NC, was the home of the Pinebridge Bucks for two ACHL seasons. Odd jersey, but that is one awesome logo! The home jersey is as close as I could get to the real thing. The away one is fictional, since I couldn't find any pics of it.

Hampton Roads Gulls 1982-83
Okay, this one was a bit...difficult. Apparently all that exists of photographic evidence of their uniform is this YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cygHX_e9K60 ...and that's where it gets weird. What is UP with those uniforms? Weird side patterns, no discernible crest or logo on the front (although good shots from that angle are few and far between in this video)...and...horror of horrors...what appears to be... COOPERALLS!! Since this was the team's first game, were these some kind of cobbled-together temporary duds until the real unis were ready? Was this all they could afford? (The team did last only 2/3 of one season). Call in Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, the Scooby Gang, whoever you can get, because this is quite a mystery! Anyway, here's my take on it, best as I could figure out. I added the logo on front, because that at least makes some sense. Cooperalls sold separately. ![]() ![]()

As a fan of historical games from the 1920's onwards, one of the pre-requisites of every game is immediate expansion using the more modern NHL and WHA franchises.
So it would be fantastic if somebody could start doing a retro take on what these teams jerseys would have looked like if they had existed in earlier decades. The reverse of course applies with defunct teams from the 1920's NHL and PCHL/WHL, who don't die and somehow survive into the modern era. |

Tidewater Sharks 1975-77
I'm afraid that project would be something for Rayzor or HockeyPlaya13, or somebody who's better at that kind of thing than me! But here's the Not At All Like The WHA's Los Angeles Sharks jersey of the Tidewater Sharks!

Both of those have been done in this thread:
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...48#post3928548 If they’re not the ones you’re looking for, though, let me know, and I can try my hand at them in the next few days. Last edited by ThatSeventiesGuy; 10-17-2021 at 03:45 AM. |
