, but I agree. I'm really excited about the potential. I think they'll need to sign another Pudge or trade for another Miggy-type player to get them to the highest levels (and probably some other vets like Magglio Ordonez), but there is so much good potential right now.

I read a report this morning that all the young talent was sent to Toledo. All of this was expected but I want to look at Casey Mize in particular. No way this isn’t anything more than service time manipulation correct? The article said that the Tigers would need to wait one week to gain the extra year. If they waited a week I’m sure most people would be fine with it. However, the article also stated that if they waited a month into the ‘21 season they would obviously garner more control. So what would you do? Mize is 23 years old by the way. The following guys are younger than Mize right now:
Fernando Tatis Jr. Juan Soto Bryse Wilson (Rhp Braves) Ronald Acuna Jr. Victor Robles Ozzie Albies (older than Mize by a few months so I included him) My point is two of these teams (Braves and Nationals) are clearly not concerned about manipulating service time and want their best talent playing at the MLB level. Also, with the exception of Wilson these players are contributing factors in the win column for their clubs. Under the premise of waiting to the first month of the ‘21 season, where Mize would be 24, would the Tigers be making the right decision? |

As a fan, if he is ready he should be with the MLB club. I do however understand that they have more to juggle than what I want to see on the field right now - I'll trust Avilla until I can't :-)
Personally, with a 60 game season, I'd like to see what Mize and Manning have right now.

Spencer Turnbull looked pretty good today. But man, Joey Votto here, Joey Votto there, Joey Votto everywhere. Uncle.

This was a good series win on the road. Especially after they looked so bad in the first game. Kansas City was the only club Detroit had a winning record against last season. It would be nice to see them keep the momentum going on this home stand.

If they don't chip away at this in the sixth, I am checking out for toniht.
On the positive side, I am really enjoying the aggressive base running.

I do not think that I have seen that before. VMart (who couldn't catch a speed bump at the end) would bunt into the shift now and then, hopefully Cabrera will try to keep them honest if this is his new normal.

I remember Tyler Alexander teaming up with Norris at the end of last season and doing a decent job. I wonder if his performance yesterday will earn him consideration for the rotation? Boyd, Fulmer, and Norris seem to all be struggling. Maybe wouldn't hurt to give Alexander a shot.

hey fellow Tigers fans. First post in the forums and it had to be in this thread! I gotta say the boys have surprised thus far and you have to love what is happening with the bullpen in particular. Soto has looked unhittable at times and Farmer really effective. Just started a new Tigers save in ootp20 as well and was suprised at how low he is rated by the scouts. Jacoby Jones the offensive star from the 9 hole... who knew? I am predicting an expanded playoff appearance this season, assuming there is a season. And let's face it - cancelling the season when they are a surprise contender would be so Tigers.
Can't wait to see Mize in action! |

Soto has to be in the conversation for best reliever in the league right now. Watching the 7th is now my favourite part of a Tigers game. That and the bombs.

Baseball Refernce has been doing a simulation of the season using OOTP 21. I followed it when it first began. Matthew Boyd started the season going something like 0-9 with a 9.00+ ERA and I thought, "That's so unrealistic!." Well... maybe not so much.
