Thanks for doing the Rangers! They've been my team since the Whalers left for Raleigh. It looks great.

By the way, I love your New England Whalers uniforms, so I'll just use that for my Hartford team.

Cleveland Crusaders

The Cleveland Crusaders were founded by Nick Mileti, who relocated the 9x AHL champion Cleveland Barons to make room for the Crusaders. The team made the playoffs every season of their existence (1972-76). In 1975 Mileti sold the team only to buy them back in 1976. Shortly after repurchasing the team, the NHL announced the California Golden Seals would be relocating to Cleveland for the 1976-77 season. In a move that would repeat itself in the NHL two years later, the Crusaders were relocate to St. Paul to become the second incarnation of the Minnesota Fighting Saints. As the Saints, the team would fold 42 games into the 1976-77 season.

I'm having trouble finding the Detroit Red Wings. Would you be able to do those? That would complete my Original 6

Ottawa Nationals

Originally meant to be the "Ontario" franchise (like the Oilers were the Alberta franchise), the Nationals' founders initially wanted to play in Toronto. When they could not reach reasonable terms with Maple Leaf Gardens, the team hoped to play in Hamilton, ON. Eventually they were placed in Ottawa, where the team failed to draw a crowd. When the city of Ottawa asked the team to pay $100,000 in advance to hold arena dates, the team left town for Toronto.

Winnipeg Jets

One of the dominant teams of the WHA, the Winnipeg Jets made the championship series 5 out of 7 seasons the league existed. They won the Avco Cup three times (the most in WHA history). When the WHA folded, the newly crowned champions were given permanent possession of 1 of the 3 cups in existence. It now resides in the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Quebec Nordiques

Founded as the San Francisco Sharks, the team was sold to a group of Quebec investors when original ownership's funding fell thru. The name translates to "Northerners"/"Northmen." The team would win its only title in Quebec (WHA or NHL) in 1977. By 1978, ownership saw the WHA as a league in crisis and began discussions with the NHL leading to the "merger" in 1979.

Toronto Toros/Birmingham Bulls

The Ottawa Nationals relocated to Toronto for the 1973-74 season. Initially meant to play in the smaller CNE Coliseum, team ownership wanted them to play at Maple Leaf Gardens (one of the owners was the son of Leafs' ownership & temporarily running both teams). By the time the team were able to play there in 1974-75, Leafs' original ownership regained control. Not a fan of the upstart WHA, they charged the Toros inflated rates to play. By 1976 expenses and a drop in attendance led the team to relocate to Birmingham, AL. The team re-branded as the Birmingham Bulls but retained their uniforms and only altered the Toros logo.

Jersey Knights

One of the founding franchises, the Jersey Knights began their existence as the New York Raiders. With poor attendance & bad lease conditions at Madison Square Garden, the team re-branded as the New York Golden Blades for their second season. After 20 games, the WHA took over the franchise, relocated them to Cherry Hill, NJ, and re-branded them as the Jersey Knights. The team was forced to recycle their Raiders uniforms after being locked out of MSG. The team would finish the season before being relocated to San Diego.

1974 - WHA & NHL Expansion

For the 1974-75 season both the WHA & NHL expanded. The NHL added the Kansas City Scouts and Washington Capitals. The WHA added the Indianapolis Racers along with the Phoenix Roadrunners from the recently folded Western Hockey League. The WHA also had two franchises relocate: the Jersey Knights relocated to San Diego to become the San Diego Mariners; the Los Angeles Sharks relocated to Detroit to become the Michigan Stags.

Michigan Stags

The Los Angeles Sharks were purchased by a pair of Detroit owners with the hopes they would be an alternative to the dismal Red Wings. Their hopes were dashed quickly when the Stags failed to draw. On January 18,1975 the WHA took over the franchise and relocated them to Baltimore to become the Blades. The Blades would finish out the season before they were dissolved.

Really like those Stags uniforms. I may have to add an expansion team using these.

Looking forward to seeing Islanders, Devils and Penguins uniforms soon.

Devils are already in the works. Isles are more likely going to be done in the Fisherman-style. Guins will be the robo-Penguin style. All coming soon.
