So the 1903 Division Series is all set.

The Cincinnati Reds will play the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NLDS. PIT is 7-13 against CIN this year and Deacon Phillipe, who did not have a year like last season believes that the Pirates can still get back to the top after a tough September.
Deacon Phillipe: "There are lots of reasons why we fell out of first and now have to play the Reds in this series. But instead of listing THOSE reasons, i would rather list the reasons why were still going to win it all!"

The Boston Americans still get their chance to defend their title as they will meet the Philadelphia Athletics in the ALDS. Weldon Henley is scheduled to start all the games in this series if needed.
Weldon Henley: "I really can't talk right now....im kinda shy around reporters. Im just gonna go out and pitch."

1903 Division Series

AL/NLDS: game 1

The Philadelphia Athletics take a 1-0 ALDS lead over the Boston Americans with a 2-1 win today. Rube Waddell gave up only 1 earned run and was able to beat out Cy Young for the crucial win. Socks Seybold hit a big HR for the Athletics in the 4th inning.
Rube Waddell: "It was a nice thing to beat Cy in this game. Ill be honest, i really dont think i need to try anymore."

Sam Leever of the Pittsburgh Pirates gets his win as the Pirates beat the Reds 5-3 to take the NLDS lead. Pittsburgh had 6 errors in the game so none of the runs scored on Leever were earned. So he pitched a shutout even though the fielding almost let him down.
Sam Leever: "They tried to let me down out there in the field, but i wouldnt let them. I just know i had to pitch well to win this game."

1903 ALDS/NLDS Game 2:

No game 3's this year as both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh wrapped things up quickly!

Bill Dinneen had no magic for the Americans today as Philadelphia eliminated them from the playoffs with a 4-3 victory. Eddie Plank looked like he almost couldnt care out there when he was on the mound, but it didnt matter as he picked up the win to advance the Athletics to the ALCS.
Eddie Plank: "So we won! Now i get to pitch some more games...Great!"

The game of the day had to be between the Pirates and the Reds. Pitching took the day off in this one as Pittsburgh closed out the series 2-0 over the Reds with a 14-9 win. Honus Wagner blasted a HR in the 6th during the offensive shootout as he went 4 for 6 today.
Honus Wagner: "I was not letting this team down. We are moving on the the next round."

ALCS/NLCS Preview:

The Pittsburgh Pirates are going to have their hands full when they face the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS. They were 10-10 against each other during the season but Brickyard Kennedy, (you have to love a guy that goes by the name of "Brickyard" don't you) says he's up for the series. While he was practicing his curveball, i asked him about his name. This would be his LAST season historically.
Brickyard Kennedy: " You know, i really don't know how i got the name. My real name is William. This is my last season and i just want to go out on top!"

The Philadelphia Athletics and the Cleveland Naps will play in the ALCS which i think is going to be a tight series. Addie Joss, who hold the best ERA against PHA says he is doing fine and is ready to go.
Addie Joss: "There comes a time in a pitcher's life when he knows he is given the ball for a reason. Im gonna go out there and do what i can for my teammates."

1903 Championship Series

1903 ALCS/NLCS Game 1:

As the ALCS gets underway, we find that it is the Athletics that draw first blood as they shutout the Cleveland Naps 3-0 behing strong pitching by Rube Waddell. Lave Cross of the PHA went 2 for 4 including an RBI to lead Philadelphia to a 1-0 series lead and take the home field advantage away from Cleveland.

In the NLCS, Jake Weimer of the Chicago Cubs had a tough outing against the Pirates as Pittsburgh took a 1-0 series lead with a 6-2 victory in Chicago. PIT Ed Phelps went 2 for 3 with an RBI in this game as the Pirates also took away home field advantage.

Game 2:

Cleveland evened up their series with Philadelphia with a 7-4 victory today. Nap Lajoie was the big star for CLE as he went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and Red Donahue pitched a fine game only giving up 4 runs to the Athletics. (Series tied 1-1)

3 runs in the 1st inning normally would be pretty good for Pittsburgh, but the Cubs battled back on the strength of Bob Wicker's pitching to win game 2 of the NLCS 6-4. Doc Casey of the CHC went 2 for 4 with an RBI in the 3rd inning. (Series tied 1-1)

Game 3:

As both series shift to the other team park's, it is Cleveland who downs the Athletics 4-1 in the ALCS. Addie Joss makes a great comeback from his first outing as he gave up 1 run on 6 hits. Charlie Hickman of the Naps had an excellent day as well going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. (CLE LEADS 2-1)

Another tough day for Jake Weimer of the Cubs as he cant seem to get his pitching on track. The Pirates are now 1 win away from reaching the World Series after 5-4 win over the Cubs. PIT's Ed Phelps of the Pirates went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI as he had another good day against Weimer. (PIT LEADS 2-1)

Game 4:

The Philadelphia Athletics tie up the ALCS with a big home win against the Cleveland Naps 4-1. The man of the day was Eddie Plank as he put the PHA on his shoulders and gave up only 1 run on 4 scattered hits. Red Donahue of CLE only gave up two earned runs, but some costly errors cost the Naps the game. (Series tied 2-2)

The Cubs did not want to be eliminated so fast as they held off Pittsburgh 5-2 to tie up the NLCS. Bob Wicker pitched well enough to win the game and Joe Tinker went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs to force a game 5. (Series tied 2-2)

For the first time in this dynasty, there will be TWO game 5s at one time!!

Game 5:

Two game 5s has got to be really exciting. You have 4 teams trying to become 2 teams to reach the world series.

The Cleveland Naps were first with an 8-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Athletics in front of their home crowd at League Park. Addie Joss didnt give up a run and Charlie Hickman went 3 for 4 with a triple and 4 RBI. The happiest man on the Naps was Nap Lajoie. (CLE wins series 3-2)
Nap Lajoie: "I cant believe it. I finally got to the world series. Now maybe i can help get my team get a title."

The Pittsburgh Pirates do it again but this time they did it on the road at West Side Park beating the Cubs 6-5 to advance to the world series for the 3rd straight year! Jake Weimer of the CHC hung his head down as again he couldnt silence the Pirates bats. He went 0-3 against PIT in this series. (PIT wins series 3-2)
Jake Weimer: "This is going to be a long offseason for me. I let my team down. I just couldnt get my pitches to work against their lineup."

WS Preview:

The 1903 World Series will feature the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Naps. The Pirates have been here before, the Naps (who were named after Lajoie BTW) have not, but that doesnt mean anything to Nap Lajoie.
Nap Lajoie: "I have been waiting a long time for this. Now i get a chance to do what has to be done in order to win it all."

Cy Falkenberg will start games 3, 5, and 7 and says he is ready for the world series once again.
Cy Falkenberg: "We won it two years ago, and just missed out on it last year. We will create our own dynasty."

1903 World Series

Game 1:

The Naps win game 1 with some great hitting due to Harry Bemis and Nap Lajoie. Bemis went 2 for 2 with an RBI and Nap Lajoie was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs as CLE took
a 1-0 series lead. It was a tough game for PIT's Kennedy giving up 8 runs on 14 hits. (CLE leads series 1-0)
Nap Lajoie: "I know how good a pitcher Brickyard is. He didnt have his best stuff today. We will face him again and i know it wont be the same."

Game 2:

With a runner on second in the 9th inning, PIT Ed Phelps could not bring in the tying run as CLE Earl Moore closed out another complete game with a 4-3 victory. Earl Moore
pitched very well, only giving up 2 earned runs as he helped give the Naps a 2-0 series lead. PIT Honus Wagner was 2 for 4 with a triple, but it was not enough for the Pirates. (CLE leads series 2-0)
Honus Wagner: "Earl was on his game today, and he pitched real good. But now we get two games in Pittsburgh and its time for us to make a comeback."

Game 3:

If anyone thought that the Pirates would just get swept out of the series, PIT Sam Leever had something to say about that. He is 5-0 in the postseason and Fred Clarke was the big man for the Pirates today as they came away with a 3-1 win over the Naps. Addie Joss took the loss for Cleveland only giving up 1 run. (CLE leads series 2-1)
Sam Leever: "I just went out there and did my job, and Clarke did his."

Game 4:

It has been a tough series for the "Brickyard". Two crucial errors by the Pirates in the 5th inning opened up a 6 run waterfall as the Naps are just one win away from winning it all. The 7-2 win gave the Naps exactly what they wanted. A game 5 elimination game in front of their home crowd. (CLE leads series 3-1)
Red Donahue: "Ill be totally honest with you. I really dont feel like coming back to Pittsburgh."

Game 5:

With a 5-1 lead going into the 8th, Earl Moore had to be feeling good at the start of the inning, he felt horrible at the end of it as the Pirates exploded for 6 runs to win the game 7-6 and send the series back to Pittsburgh. Fred Clarke was 2 for 4 including a crucial RBI double in that inning to start the rally. (CLE leads series 3-2)
Fred Clarke: "They had it, and we took it away from them. Now its back to our crowd to see if we can force a game 7."

Game 6:

Addie Joss and Sam Leever pitched their butts off in this one, but in the end. we have our FIRST game 7 coming up in world series history. A 4-3 PIT win was well received by the PIT crowd as both teams boarded the trains back to Cleveland for the final game! PIT Tommy Leach went 2 for 2 with a triple and scored two runs in the 7th for the win. (Series tied 3-3)
Tommy Leach: "It was tense this game...but i dont think anyone saw this series going seven games."

Game 7:

One game for all the marbles! One game for all the bragging rights.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are champions again and Brickyard Kennedy had achieved redemption.
A 6-1 victory over the Cleveland Naps at League Park gave the Pirates their 2nd world series championship.
PIT Kennedy pitched a great game, only giving up 1 run, and Fred Clarke was 2 for 4
with 2 RBI. He was my choice for World Series MVP!
Fred Clarke: "We never gave up and we never doubted each other. We were down 3-1 in this series, but we felt we could make a comeback and grab it all."

A stunned Cleveland crowd at League Park could only go back to game 5 of the series, when their team had a 5-1 lead going into the 8th inning,
and then, the Pirates got 6 runs to force a game 6.
Charlie Hickman was the only CLE player who would talk to me after this game.
Charlie Hickman: "This is really tough! I feel bad for our team, our fans and our city. This is going to be tough to swallow."

(PIT wins series 4-3)
