For the third straight year, a Tiger has won the MVP - and for the 2nd consecutive time, it's Miguel Cabrera.

Congrats, Miggy!

Always liked Vizquel... if Iglesias can become a Vizquel-like player (defense, hitting, running, work-ethic, etc.) the Tigers will be set at the SS position for a very long time!

So, I'm reading a bunch about the Tigers being "willing" to listen to trade offers for Max Scherzer. In this current market they could probably get a pretty good deal. And DD is known for getting pretty good deals. Do you think they'll trade him?

I'm really not sure what they're going to do with Scherzer. Personally I hope they would keep him (hard to give up a proven commodity). The Tigers have been in a "win now" mode but then again with their existing monster contracts and a pending new one coming to Miggy in a couple of years... it's really a tough decision for DD. The Tigers finally got things going in the right direction and were just a few breaks away from winning it all but the wrong decision with somebody like Scherzer can set us back pretty bad.

Wow! I didn't see this one coming. The Tigers just traded Prince for Ian Kinsler. Lot's of money off the books, but I sure wish this deal involved Profar, Andrus or Martin.

I think it's a great move for the Tigers. They save a ton. Fielder has a limited NTC they're saying, don't know if Rangers are on the list.

He'll hit some bombs in that park.

Rangers sure haven't been shy about spending money the past few years.

That is a great move. Texas will regret this in a huge way in a few short years.

Isn't Kinsler old? Or, fairly old? Or, like 33+?

According to this article the Rangers are on his NTC, but he seems to be willing to accept the deal.

Fielder is willing to accept the deal despite having the Rangers included in his limited no-trade clause
Makes me think he's non too happy being in Detroit.

Not only will Texas regret this move but the Cardinals already regret the move as this may very likely kill their chances of trading for Elvis Andrus. It could still happen, that I know, but the odds are now against it.

Before I say I love this trade I'm going to wait for the final details... i.e. any other players involved? Do the Tigers have to pay a portion of Prince's contract and if so how much? And anything else I can't think of off the top of my head.

Detroit sends 30 million in cash. Essentially paying Prince 138 million for 7 years in addition to dropping Kinsler's 64 million off of their payroll. Seems like a very fair trade IMO. Rangers are in win now mode and wouldnt have been able to get a bat of Prince's caliber via free agency. I dont think the Tigers really needed Prince all that much as Miggy can pretty much carry an offense by himself when he is right. What they needed they can now do in get some fielders that can field for that great pitching staff.

I can see how the trade works out well for both teams. But is this like a part "A" to a two or three part plan for DD? Will we sign Scherzer and get Miggy his extension? Will we still trade Scherzer anyways? Who else are we targeting/trying to get in FA? Does this mean Castellanos moves to 3B? Do we resign Peralta to play 3B? A lot of time left and a lot of ?'s still need to be answered. Personally I'm glad we shipped Fielder and his monster contract. I wish him the best with the Rangers but I rather take my chances with somebody we can pay a lot less.

Well. Get knocked out of action for a week, and the whole landscape gets changed. :| Got a lot of catching up to do.

Safe to say that's the plan. Very good overall move by the Tigers.

Don't be greedy The deal's already heavily in Detroit's favour. If Profar, Andrus or Martin were involved it would simply be highway robbery and completely indefensible from Texas' standpoint.
