The Jays lost another close one, 3-2 vs the Angels. They play like a better team than their record indicates.

WP - Nolan Ryan (5-2)
Save - Al Hrobosky (6)
LP - Mark Foster (3-3)

Record - 13-21

Bailor is not very good. He could have been my 3B, but when I picked up Doug DeCinces it kind of lessened his value. I sent him down because he just wasn't playing well and I had other guys I wanted to give a shot to (like Dale Ryan). Ryan has not done well but Bailor is playing poorly in AAA to the point where I am considering dropping him another level to try and get back on track. I now have Dale Ryan and Arlen Turner to play 3B, but with DeCinces out for 4 months (and poor play before that), I may have to try something else. It went from a strength to a weakness this season.

The Blue Jays dropped their sixth in a row as Lynn McGlothen of the Orioles completely handled them, as they fell 3-0.

The Toronto losing streak extended to seven games, losing 4-1 to the Orioles, but of greater worry is Mike Parrott who left the game in the 2nd inning with a sore shoulder. He is expected to miss two weeks.

Toronto's starting rotation has been a strength, but they have very little depth.

WP - Dennis Martinez (5-3)
LP - Mike Parrott (2-5)

Record - 13-24

Mike Parrott was placed on the 15-day DL. Theron Perkins was called up to take his spot in the rotation.

He is not good, but neither are any of the other SPs available. If I get desperate, I will call up a releiver and try Eric Hathaway as a starter.

What a cruel game. Through 6 innings it looked like Toronto was going to break the losing streak. Then the wheels came off and New York got hit after hit, scoring 7 runs in the 7th and eventually winning 9-4.

WP - Ed Figueroa (7-1)
LP - Fergie Jenkins (4-3)

Record - 13-25 (Lost 8 in a row)

It looked like the Blue Jays were going to lose their tenth in a row. They were down 7-0 to the Yankees but they roared back, scoring 8 times over 3 innings. The Yanks scored in the 9th (giving Domingo Nieto his first blown save of the season) but Toronto didn't give up! Eventually, in the bottom of the 11th Oscar Gamble led off with a single and then Dale Ryan - a defensive sub in the 10th - hit a triple in his first plate appearance, plating Gamble and sealing the win.

WP - Dennis DeBarr (1-0)
LP - Terry Forster (0-1)

Record - 14-26

Between double-header games, Toronto sent Mike Willis to AAA, calling up Sergio Hernandez. They were getting a little tired out there.

In Game 2 of the double-header, Toronto used their momentum from Game 1 and beat the Yankees 4-2 behind recent call-up, Theron Perkins, who gave up 6 hits in 8.1 innings.

Lee May hit a homerun for New York so he and Oscar Gamble are back tied for the league lead, at 8. Gamble also leads the batting title race.

WP - Theron Perkins (1-0)
Save - Sergio Hernandez (1)
LP - Don Gullett (4-6)

Record - 15-26

Toronto wins their third game in a row, beating the Boston Red Sox 4-0. It was Pete Vuckovich who dominated - pitching 7.2 innings, giving up only 3 hits and striking out 11. Jerome Thomson hit his 2nd homer of the season.

WP - Pete Vuckovich (2-5)
LP - Mike Paxton (4-6)

Record - 16-26

Fergie Jenkins took a no-hitter into the 7th and a shut-out into the 9th before defeating the Boston Red Sox 7-1, to gain Toronto their 4th straight win (and Boston's 8th straight loss).

Jenkins gave up only 3 hits while striking out 10. Carlos Hernandez went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.

WP - Fergie Jenkins (5-3)
LP - Don Aase (5-2)

Record - 17-26
