Still don't know where you can edit the projected budget and exactly what effect it will have. Would love to hear more details about this.

Could downloading this work?

Chilkat C / C++ Libraries for Linux

I don't have Linux so I can't test it.

One of my league members let me know that he purchased it via the App Store which seems to have a completely different method of updating and method for licensing.

This means that he's unable to do anything until the update there or is there something different we/he should be doing?

Thanks for any assistance on this one.

Take his instructions and implement them in your commish role. It's inconvenient but Markus does not own Apple.

Alternatively ask your entire league not to update.

Obviously, those are two things I've considered. The first is doable, but the second isn't really if you any player is in more than one league.

I obviously realize he doesn't own Apple, but I'd argue that, depending on the number of people that own the game from the App Store, it might make sense to wait until they've cleared it, otherwise this will be a problem each time.

That was one of my first stops after a Google search. No luck though.

It's a no-win for OOTP. I'd be miffed as a Win/PC solo league user if he delayed the patch for Mac and online users.

Maybe, but I also don't think you'd really know any different as it would likely only be a week or two (as I understand -- if it's longer, then it's very upsetting). It's not game-breaking for solo game players at all (unless it's some kind of major groundbreaking/bug-fixing update --frankly, this was not) but since online league players are all forced to have the same version it can be a pain for them.

I don't know how prevalent the App Store version is, but if it is, that should certainly be considered. If it's not, considering the licensing issues there, too, (like they can't put it on two computers) and if services aren't equal (waiting longer for patches), maybe it shouldn't be offered as an option. I'm just rambling here as it's not a massive deal (unless there are a lot of players with the App Store version), but I do think it should be looked at/considered.

If Markus held the patch back while waiting for Apple to catch up, then no one (including the mixed leagues) would be able to benefit from it for a week or two. By releasing asap, the majority of gamers, including leagues that have no App Store members, benefit immediately. The solo App gamers or leagues that have App members still have to wait, but everyone else can go forward. I don't see any real benefit to making everyone wait.

I understand that, but releasing a patch in this manner actually hurts some players and leagues whereas as waiting really doesn't affect anyone negatively --- we all continue on status quo. Again, I admit the numbers may be very, very small, and maybe it only affects our league, but I thought it worth bringing up.

EDIT: In the end, my real question was, is there a way for him to update his file outside of the App Store?

Apple owners are the minority. Sorry dude! Those of us with PCs don't want to wait.

Online live sim

If you start the ONLINE LIVE SIM and let it go without adjusting, it appears to work great.

However:

- If you WATCH game or enter a game, the live sim stops airing for that day and does not continue if you leave game and resume

- My box scores and game log (set to broadcast) for the live sim do not work, they go to an error page when you click on them on the webpage

Please advise.

Yeah, and it's not actually all Apple owners -- it's even smaller than that. It's Apple owners that purchase from the App Store. Sadly, they pay the same price but are getting less for their money and have to wait. Personally, I'd be asking for my money back.

Again, that's really a secondary issue as a workaround to be able to update would be the goal here.

If waiting doesn't affect anyone negatively, why is there a problem with App-ers having to wait? As long as everyone in a mixed App/non-App league refrained from updating till the patch is available to all, you could still continue to play till the App version comes out.

Not privy to Markus's contractual arrangements, but I'd guess there's a legal reason why Markus has to release the patch thru the App store instead of making it available directly. Purchasing the game from Markus is always the best way to go.

This is fixed in the next patch. Not sure about the other issue, though.

The point is that a staggered release creates a problem. Waiting only becomes an issue then. If the release were for all customers at once, there would be no problem. I'm sure we'd be discussing this differently if the situation were reversed.

As for refraining from updating, as mentioned, this only works if everyone is in just one league (haha)

I'm starting to repeat myself at this point, and even though I think it's a bit unfair for someone who's paid the same price as the rest of us (both from an update and licensing perspective) it's not a big deal so I'll leave it at that and simply hope that I hear back from someone who has an official answer as to whether there is a way or not for them to update that we are unaware of. And at worst, when we might expect to see that patch.

You even fixed it so that when you play a game, it remembers your settings for team controls, bravo!
