Yeah, it is August and we're still it the hunt. They seem to be very streaky to me. They'll lose 5-6 in a row and it makes me think they are falling apart, only to win 5-6 in a row. I think they are getting very lucky right now. No way they have the pieces to make a playoff run, IMO.

I must admit that as I watched my Tigers beat Baltimore last night I felt a bit guilty. Baltimore has remained in the hunt and I am rooting for them (and Pittsburgh) because they are a great story. But I still want Detroit to make it too. Apologies for making the Orioles road a bit harder.

These seven Birds-Bombers games in the next ten days are crucial. I'm thinking not only about the division lead, but also wild card standings for the team that gets dominated, if that's what happens. A 4-3 split would leave things about where they are now - both of us looking over our shoulders at the Rays.

Congrats Orioles fans! These are the best matchups. A's and O's could take out the powerhouse teams and meet in the ALCS.

You're not the only one talking that way. I just read somebody's pick along those same lines (first screen print). Orioles/Yanks were very evenly matched this season (second screen print) and that would predict a tight series, but . . . (see the Yankees thread for my nervousness).
