Jr Flyweight Second Round

(WBC) Sot Chitalada 36-5 (23) vs Jhon Molina 14-4-3 (3)

Sot dominated from the opening bell and he ripped Molina apart with punishing combinations in the third round until a sizzling hook put Jhon down for the count just before the bell.

Hugo Cazares 33-6-2 (22) vs Pitchit Siriwat 27-11-3 (9)

This was a back and forth battle with Hugo scoring heavily to the body in tight while Siriwat countered with clean uppercuts and hooks. Pitchit had a dominant fifth round from the outside with stiff jabs and crosses while he moved like he was on a magic carpet. Cazares turned the tide with a huge right hand that put the Thai fighter down for a six count in round eight and he followed up with three vicious uppercuts. The last two rounds were very tight, but Cazares took the tough UD based on the KD. 96-93, 96-95 & 95-94

Brian Viloria 16-5 (8) vs Joey Olivo 20-21 (4)

Viloria hurt Olivo early in the opening round with a right to the stomach and then a follow up barrage put Joey down for an eight count, Brian continued to hammer him and three punishing right hands prompted the referee to end the massacre.

Rodel Mayol 35-7-2 (27) vs Nam-Hoon Cha 15-6 (6)

Rematch: Mayol UD10

This was a hard to watch, grappling match for the first three rounds. Cha landed an uppercut that split open Mayol's lip in the fourth and Rodel responded with a cross that set off the first exciting exchanges of the bout. Round five was violent as they traded early and often before another uppercut from Nam-Hoon opened a nasty cut over Mayol's right eye, with blood all over his face Rodel exploded with three murderous right hands in the final twenty seconds.

Mayol hurt him twice in round six with devastating right hands and he gained a modicum of control. They traded viciously in the eighth with neither man giving any ground as they snapped each others heads back with uppercuts and hooks. Mayol stunned him in the final round with a right hand and closed with a flourish as he pummeled the South Korean along the ropes when the final bell sounded. The decision was way wider than the fight looked, but Mayol moved on with the shockingly wide UD, 99-92 x2 & 98-92

Good stuff as always.

I'm curious, did you carry over the records from the previous tourney? or start from scratch?

I ran 20 prelims per division again. The one thing i wish I would have done is copied the fighters with extra divisions so they didn't get extra ranking points for their work in other divisions.

I have 4,000 more fighters in my data base now than I had when I ran these. And I went through the ring ratings since their inception and DL'd anyone I could on here, created the ones I couldn't and added divisions to every fighter listed. I also have everyone in the current Boxrec top 50, I know their rankings stink but it's such a convenient place to do it. So the next one is going to be crazy.

Jr Flyweight Second Round

Dodie Boy Penalosa 30-8-3 (8) vs Andy Tabanas 12-9 (6)

Penalosa dominated early with speedy footwork and combinations while tabanas struggled to score. The middle rounds got closer as Andy started dialing in with right hands and Penalosa's constant movement slowed down. Tabanas dropped him with a right hand in round eight for a six count and carrying round nine with several clean right hands before Dodie Boy took the tenth with clean combination punching and advanced via UD. 97-93, 96-93 & 95-94

Muangchai Kittikasem 34-7 (23) vs Bert Batawang 17-3-1 (5)

There were spirited exchanges here and there, but Kittikasem always landed harder and a brutal body attack wore Batawang down until J-Okay dropped him in the ninth and tenth with hard right hands and the referee stepped in with Muangchai punishing him along the ropes with ten seconds left in the bout.

Gerardo Verde 16-5 (8) vs (IBO) Joma Gamboa 33-9-2 (8)

Gamboa boxed very well early with clean right hands swelling up Verde's left eye. Gerardo dropped the champion with an uppercut in round three and continued to press the pace in the next few rounds with punishing hooks and uppercuts on the inside that had both of Joma's eyes showing distention after six rounds.

The Filipino showed his championship heart in the seventh, meeting Verde in the middle of the ring and exchanging heavy leather until a right hand dropped Gerardo for a five count and Joma peppered him with one-two's over the final minute while the Manila crowd went wild. After a solid eighth from Gamboa, Verde backed him up and pasted him with vicious body work and uppercuts over the final four rounds, only to have it taken away from him when the judges gave Gamboa the MD, 115-112, 114-112 & 113-113

Alejandro Montiel 29-9-3 (14) vs Fahlan Sakkreerin 27-15-3 (3)

Rematch: Montiel UD12

Montiel repeated his victory in even greater fashion. He dominated the first two rounds before staggering Fahlan early in the third with a right hand and he battered him along the ropes with vicious shots until the referee stepped in and called it a halt.

Rematch:

Ivan Calderon 43-2-2 (10) vs Joey Herbst 17-3-2 (4)

Calderon was in much finer form the second time around with sharp left hands that opened a gash over Herbst right eye in round three. Joey got some right hands in over the next two rounds but Ivan continued to box brilliantly and he swept the closing rounds to take the UD. 99-93 & 98-93 x2

Jr Flyweight Third Round

Ricardo Lopez 47-0 (37) vs Alejandro Montiel 30-9-3 (15)

Finito out-boxed his countryman over the first three rounds with stiff jabs and hooks to the body. In round four Montiel staggered Finito with a right hand and spent the final minute hammering home that same punch while Ricardo countered off the ropes, another booming right hurt Lopez in the final ten seconds and he went back to his corner with swelling under his left eye.

Alejandro kept up the pace in the fifth with a furious barrage of lefts and rights that pinned Finto in the corner and he snapped back his head with two crushing uppercuts before Lopez responded with two hard hooks to the body closing the round. Finito unloaded in round six, putting on a brilliant exhibition of combination punching that had Alejandro holding on at rounds end.

Ricardo took the seventh with sharp jabs that began to swell up Montiel's right eye, then Alejandro stormed back in round eight with crushing right hands while Lopez responded with left hooks and uppercuts to the body and head. They closed the round with a furious exchange that Montiel edged with another thunderous right at the bell. Finito buckled his legs with a short hook to open the ninth and that opened the floodgates as Lopez hammered him up and under with thudding hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head, a double hook sent Montiel's mouthpiece flying and moments later the referee stepped in and ended his valiant run at the top seed.

Koki Kameda 56-5 (33) vs (IBO) Joma Gamboa 34-9-2 (8)

Koki used his jab to control the champion in the first two rounds and right hands behind it had very noticeable distention on Gamboa's left eye. Kameda rocked him early in round three with a hard combo and later on in the round a vicious right hand put Joma flat on his back, the champion scrambled to his feet at the count of nine but the referee called an almost immediate halt.

Giovanni Segura 40-1 (31) vs Muangchai Kittikasem 35-7 (24)

Rematch: Kittikasem MD12

The Thai fighter used his speed to pepper the slow starting Mexican with combos in the opening round. Kittikasem turned over a big right hand early in the second that set off a nasty exchange of blows that saw both men wobbled at times during the vicious round of combat (16-16). They picked up where they left off in the third and during an early trade a short combo put Muangchai down for a brief count of two, Giovanni tore into him with both hands scoring with bruising shots to the body until a sweeping uppercut crashed into Kittikasem's chin and put him down for the ten count.

Yoko Gushiken 21-0 (18) vs Dodie Boy Penalosa 31-8-3 (8)

Penalosa boxed circles around Yoko over the first five rounds with crisp jabs and fancy footwork, from that point on Gushiken began to pound the body and slow the wheels of his foe and by round nine Penalosa was laboring under the ferocity of Yoko's assault. A brilliant 3 punch combo floored Dodie in round eleven for a six count and Gushiken dominated down the stretch en route to the UD, 116-111 x2 & 115-112

Jr Flyweight Third Round

Jorge Arce 65-15-1 (42) vs Rodel Mayol 36-7-2 (27)

Arce looked devastating as he roughed up Mayol in tight from the opening bell with vicious body shots and hooks and uppercuts to the head that had his left eye ballooning by the end of round two. Early in the third Travieso floored him with a short hook for a count of six and unloaded with both hands until the referee rescued a virtually helpless Mayol trapped in the corner under heavy fire.

Jung-Koo Chang 39-2 (15) vs Brian Viloria 17-5 (9)

Late in a cautious opening round Chang dug a hook to the body and Viloria countered with a pinpoint hook to the head that dropped the South Korean for a five count. There was no time for further damage and after a nip and tuck second, Brian connected with several clean right hands to take round three. Chang upped his aggression in the fourth and scored heavily to the body and with uppercuts from both wings to the head, Viloria absorbed it all and stormed back in the final minute with a series of brutal right hands before out-slugging Chang over the final twenty seconds of a back and forth round.

Jung-Koo used relentless volume to sweep the next three rounds while Brian struggled to meet his pace as the South Korean launched four and five punch combos to the body and head as the Hawain appeared to be wilting. Chang worked him over on the inside for the first half of round eight and then Viloria connected with a scorching uppercut that buckled Jung's knees and Brian landed four flush right hands over the final forty-five seconds of the stanza.

Hard body shots and straight left hands carried Chang in rounds nine and ten and Viloria's right eye began to swell. Once again in round eleven the Americans power bailed him out when he rocked Chang with a short hook and punished him over the final forty seconds with a variety of power shots. Chang shrugged it off and out-worked Brian on the inside over the final three minutes to earn the MD in a very entertaining battle, 115-113 x2 & 114-114

Ivan Calderon 44-2-2 (10) vs Hugo Cazares 34-6-2 (22)

These two engaged in a tight contest with Cazares using his size on the inside when he could and Ivan using his fleet feet and speedy combos on the outside. Hugo scored with three punishing uppercuts that buzzed Ivan in round three but Calderon bounced back in the fourth with several three punch combos during a dominant round. The rest of the stanzas were nip and tuck, including the sixth when the two clashed heads and Cazares came away from it with a hideous gash over his right eye.

Hugo began to impose his will in the second half of the bout, hurting Calderon in round eight with a crisp right hand and battering the sides of his diminutive foe until a concussive uppercut crashed into Ivan's jaw early in round eleven and put him down for the count.

(WBO) Beibis Mendoza 19-2 (14) vs (WBC) Sot Chitalada 37-5 (23)

They wasted no time and Mendoza staggered his rival early with a right hand that set off a furious opening round where they both scored heavily with crosses and hooks while the crowd roared(17-14). Beibis took the next two rounds with powerful right hands before Chitalada employed some movement to stem the tide and used his jab to fight on even terms in rounds four, five and six.

Sot got off several clean combos in a solid seventh round and he staggered Mendoza with a right hand in the final ten seconds. Mendoza had Chitalada in a bad way in round ten after two murderous right hands but the Thai fighter survived the follow up onslaught and took advantage of the arm weary Colombian in round eleven with a series of pinpoint combos. The fighters closed the bout as they began it, trading heavily over the final three minutes but Mendoza's harder shots took the round and the hard fought UD. 115-113 x3

Jr Flyweight Third Round

(IBF) Myung-Woo Yuh 21-0 (8) vs (WBA) Saman Sorjaturong 21-1 (19)

Yuh used his speed and volume to take the first two rounds in spite of some nice body work from his Thai rival. Sorjaturong changed the tide dramatically with a minute remaining in the third when he floored Myung with a crushing right hand for a five count, he hammered Yuh's sided with clubbing body shots and connected with two devastating uppercuts to cap a huge round. Saman's more powerful blows carried the next two rounds though Woo was able to get back to landing some solid combinations.

The South Korean opened up in round six with a never ending stream of combination punching that had Sorjaturong back on his heels, a brilliant 4 punch combo sent sweat flying at the bell. Round seven was more of the same and Saman went back to his corner with a badly swollen right eye and a slightly swollen left one. Sorjaturong rocked Myung with a murderous uppercut early in round eight and he punished his body with Yuh pinned on the ropes for a good minute before Myung forged off the ropes with rapid combos and they traded heavily over the final half minute of a thrilling round (16-16).

A huge right hand buckled Yuh again in round nine and this time there was no rally as Saman continued to blast the body and snap back his head with uppercuts and hooks during a dominant round for the Thai champion. Yuh brushed that off and absolutely controlled Sorjaturong over the final six rounds showing off superior endurance and using the era round rule to his benefit to secure the tough UD, 144-140, 144-141 & 143-142

Michael Carbajal 19-1-1 (17) vs Hilario Zapata 37-4-1 (11)

Carbajal came out very aggressive and his hard right hands carried the opening two rounds while Zapata was forced into a defensive posture that he excels at. After a close third, Hilario got his jab working in the fourth and he dodged Michael's power shots and countered well with short left hands. Zapata boxed well at times, but the power of Carbajal was just too much for him to overcome. The rounds were mostly competitive, but the Little Hands Of Stone was the dictator and he floored Zapata with an uppercut in round nine and went on to take the impressive UD. 118-110 x2 & 117-111

Hi-Yong Choi 37-5-1 (13) vs Paul Weir 18-22-2 (4)

Weir stayed in things early with swift right hands and after four rounds he had hopes of another upset. Choi had different plans and he began to take control with hard combinations until a violent cross caught Weir flush on the chin in round nine and put him flat on his back for the ten count.

Shingo Yamaguchi 14-7-1 (4) vs Leo Gamez 71-11-2 (34)

This was a fairly ho-hum affair early on with gamez trying to press inside and work the body while Yamaguchi used his legs and jab to avoid conflict. In the sixth Shingo opened a nasty cut on Leo's forehead that was streaming into his right eye and he landed several hard left hands in the seventh and eighth before Gamez floored him late in round eight with an overhand right. Gamez fought through the steady flow of blood and continued to score with his right hand while Shingo's reluctance to engage cost him the UD. 116-112 x2 & 114-113

Jr Flyweight Third Round

Nelson Dieppa 19-2 (8) vs Matthew Bell 40-4-1 (24)

Bell started quickly with fierce combinations and he dropped Dieppa with a hard right hand with a minute left in the opening round, Nelson got up at nine and survived a series of punishing shots over the remainder of the round. Dieppa took a few rights in the second before he connected with a hook that put Zeke down for a five count, the Puerto Rican scored with several clean right hands before the bell. They settled into a back and forth contest with both men having their moments and the judges decided that they had to run it back, 115-111 Bell & 113-113 x2

Roberto Vasquez 35-4-2 (24) vs Masibulele Makepula 42-17-3 (31)

This bout was competitive, but the Panamanian had control from the opening bell until the ninth round when Vasquez floored him three times for the automatic stoppage.

Humberto Gonzalez 19-2 (16) vs Sarikalek Eakarin 36-7-1 (27)

They traded throughout the bout, but Gonzalez was always a step ahead. They seemed headed for a decision before Humberto floored him early in the twelfth with an uppercut and unloaded with both hands until a short hook put Eakarin down and out with fourteen seconds left in the fight.

Vuyani Nene 28-11-2 (19) vs Jake Matlala 32-7-3 (16)

Nene floored Jake twice in the opening round with right hands and he maintained command until the last few rounds when Matlala mounted a futile rally that resulted in the UD for Vuyani. 117-109 x3

Rematch:

Nelson Dieppa 19-2-1 (8) vs Matthew Bell 40-4-2 (24)

Bell dominated the rematch with concise combinations and he floored Dieppa three times en route to a UD. 117-108 x2 & 116-110

Jr Flyweight Fourth Round

Jorge Arce 66-15-1 (43) vs Leo Gamez 72-11-2 (34)

Arce came out strong and he dropped Leo with a short hook late in the opening round. Round two was once again all Arce as he ripped hooks to the body and head while Gamez struggled to keep him off of him. Leo started to use his jab in the third and he landed several clean right hands as well. They opened the fourth trading heavily and Gamez staggered him with a hook and then dropped Jorge with a huge right hand for a count of eight. The final minute was brutal for Arce as Gamez continually blasted him with hard right hands.

They swapped the next two rounds before lighting each other up in the seventh where they went toe to toe on the inside for the entire three minutes(17-15). Arce's body work started to pay dividends and he hammered Gamez in tight during a lopsided round nine. Early in the tenth he rocked Gamez with an uppercut and unleashed everything but the kitchen sink until a murderous hook crashed into Gamez' jaw and put him down for the count.

Jung-Koo Chang 40-2 (15) vs Hi-Yong Choi 38-5-1 (14)

Choi had his moments, in particularly in round eight when he staggered Chang with a right hand and connected with several clean combinations over the final minute of his best round, but Jung-Koo's relentless volume was just too much for Choi and he nearly finished him in round ten with a stream of blows to the body and head. The judges had it closer than I saw the fight, but the right guy won and Chang advanced via MD. 116-112, 115-113 & 114-114

Hugo Cazares 35-6-2 (23) vs Michael Carbajal 20-1-1 (17)

After a tight opening round Cazares imposed his size in round two, landing hard right hands and backing Michael to the ropes, he banged two hooks to the body and an uppercut opened a nasty cut on Carbajal's right eyebrow that streamed down his face. After a tight third round Carbajal came on in the fourth when he rocked Hugo with a hook and landed two hard right hands and a devastating uppercut over the final twenty-five seconds.

Carbajal dominated round five with powerful combinations that had Cazares on his heels for the majority of the round. Hugo hurt Carbajal a minute into the fifth with a debilitating hook to the body and he snapped back Michael's head with uppercuts down the stretch of the dominant stanza.

Carbajal seized control over the next few rounds and he dropped Hugo twice in round nine with pulverizing left hooks. Cazares bounced back in round ten with some solid body work and a left hook reopened the gash on carbajal's eye and the ref had the doctor look at it. Michael stayed on the outside in round eleven but early in the final round a left hook exploded blood all over Carbajal's face and to the dismay of the crowd and Carbajal's team the fight was stopped. The unlucky American was up by 5 on two cards and one on the other one.

(WBC & WBO) Beibis Mendoza 20-2 (14) vs (IBF & WBA) Myung-Woo Yuh 22-0 (8)

Yuh controlled the majority of the early going with sharp one-twos and precision footwork. Late in the fourth Mendoza connected with a huge right hand and he pressed that advantage in the fifth with hard hooks to the body and right hands to the head. That edge was short lived as Yuh was just too much, he dropped Beibis in the seventh with a cross, opened a cut under his left eye with an uppercut in round ten and went on to take the impressive UD. 118-111, 117-111 & 116-112

Jr Flyweight- QF

Ricardo Lopez 49-0 (39) vs (IBF, WBA, WBC & WBO) Myung-Woo Yuh 23-0 (8)

The first three rounds were highly competitive, but Lopez harder left hooks seemed to give him the edge. Finito was warned in the third for holding and hitting and Myung came out with blazing combos in round four, Ricardo met him and they traded throughout the evenly contested round.

Lopez unloaded a vicious body assault in the fifth round that had Yuh holding on along the ropes while Lopez dug hooks deep into the side and drew swelling from the South Koreans left eye with uppercuts in close. The power of Lopez just proved to be too much for Yuh to overcome, whenever he was able to score with a few shots in a row Ricardo would stop him in his tracks with powerful hooks to the body and right hands to the head. Yuh took a particular hiding in round eight when he was rocked with a 3 punch combo and the UD for Lopez was never in doubt when the judges cards were collected. 118-111 x3

(IBO) Humberto Gonzalez 21-2 (18) vs Hugo Cazares 36-6-2 (24)

Hugo took the first round that consisted of a lot of grappling and rough stuff inside, Humberto came back in the second with concise combos but he drew two warnings; one for hitting on the break and another for holding and hitting. Gonzalez battered Hugo in round three with several punishing combinations and he staggered him twice with murderous hooks. Cazares tagged him early in the fourth with a right hand and he held his own while Humberto fired off jabs and short hooks behind them.

Gonzlez dropped Cazares almost immediately in the fifth with a brutal combination, he unleashed his full arsenal; scoring with hooks to the body and head along with some punishing uppercuts until a brilliant three punch combo crashed into Hugo's chin late in the round and put him down for the count.

Giovanni Segura 42-1 (33) vs Jung-Koo Chang 41-2 (15)

Chang boxed brilliantly over the first six minutes, mixing in a sustained body attack with crisp combinations to the head. Segura continued to press forward and he landed several punishing body shots as well as uppercuts to the head that left Chang with a mouse on his left eye. Jung-Koo schooled his foe with jabs and right hands during a dominant fourth round. The next two rounds were tight with Segura finding his way inside more often and he momentarily buckled Chang late in the sixth with an uppercut.

Giovanni had a big round seven, stunning Chang with another uppercut and banging hooks off of his increasingly swelling left eye, late in the round Segura was deducted a point for holding and hitting after a previous warning. Chang had the best of the early portion of round eight with laser combinations, but Segura kept pressing forward and he landed two vicious uppercuts and a hook flush on the chin that had Chang in trouble along the ropes as the Mexican flailed away to the body at rounds end.

Jung-Koo stunned everyone when he stormed out for round nine and landed a brutal combination that put Segura down for a nine count, the suddenly exhausted looking Mexican was quickly backed to the ropes and Chang hammered away to the body and head with relentless volume until two short uppercuts violent snapped back his head and the referee stepped in.

Yoko Gushiken 23-0 (18) vs Jorge Arce 67-15-1 (44)

Yoko used his significant boxing skills over the first four rounds, strong lead left hands began to puff up Arce's right eye and he constantly had his jab in the often wild Mexican's face. Jorge closed the distance in the fifth and sixth and started digging his hooks to the body and head while Gushiken countered with sharp combinations.

The seventh and eight were fairly pedestrian as Gushiken used movement to keep out of range. Arce changed that in round nine when he staggered Yoko with a hook and moments later landed another hook that ripped open a cut over Yoko's right eye; Jorge blasted the body and connected with three more hooks up top to generate swelling on the already bloody eye in his best round of the fight.

They opened round ten trading bombs and Yoko showed why he is the defending champion when he dropped Arce for a seven count with a short hook, later in the round he floored him again with a sharp cross and, though he managed to survive the round, Arce looked tired heading back to his corner. After a dominant round eleven from Gushiken, Arce showed the heart of a champion int he final round when he staggered Yoko with a hook and unleashed blow after blow in an effort to end matters. He fell short, but earned plenty of respect in Gushiken's UD win.. 116-110 x2 & 115-111

Jr Flyweight- SF

(IBF,WBA,WBC & WBO) Ricardo Lopez 50-0 (39) vs Yoko Gushiken 24-0 (18)

They sized each other up and inside of the opening minute Gushiken floored his rival with a vicious combo for a count of five, he spent the remainder of the round stalking Finito and hammering him with hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head in a thoroughly dominant stanza. The Fierce Eagle dominated the second round with hard body shots and violent uppercuts to the head. In round three Finito started to score with jabs and right hands and he met Gushiken's aggression on equal terms, late in the frame they clashed heads and Yoko came away with a terrible gash over his left eye.

They traded liberally during an action packed, and dead even, fourth round with neither man taking a backward step or gaining even a slight edge. Early in the fifth Lopez dropped Yoko with a three punch combo and he barely beat the count; perhaps overanxious to avenge his defeat in the first Nerd tournament semi-final Lopez got wild and was unable to capitalize while the Japanese warrior buckled the Mexicans legs late in the round with a brutal left hand. Ricardo staggered his foe with a hook in the sixth and Yoko fired back with an onslaught of hooks and uppercuts that Lopez met with several clean combinations. At the end of the vicious round, Lopez had swelling on his right eye and Gushiken's cut was reopened.

Gushiken absorbed a nasty hook in round seven, but he slipped a right hand and delivered a devastating left hand counter that floored Lopez for a count of two, Gushiken unloaded his arsenal but a clear headed Lopez defended brilliantly and avoided further damage. Finito responded in round eight and outfought Gushiken in a fast paced round with hard hooks to the body and head while he absorbed several punishing counters from The Fierce Eagle.

The battle turned a bit one-sided from there as Gushiken nearly closed Lopez' eye with uppercuts and powerful left hands while his pressure wilted the offensive output of the mexican. It was much closer than last time, but once again Gushiken sent Lopez home with a hard fought UD. 117-110 x2 & 115-110

(IBO) Humberto Gonzalez 22-2 (19) vs Jung-Koo Chang 42-2 (16)

Chang took the fight to his foe in the opening round, scoring with clean combinations to the body and head while his hometown Seoul crowd roared. After a tight second frame, Gonzalez exploded in round three; buckling Chang's legs with a straight left and immediately dropping him with a nasty uppercut and short hook to the head. Jung-Koo was up at five, but Humberto hammered him the rest of the round with fierce combinations to the head.

They traded evenly over the next few rounds with both men scoring well in close. Early in the seventh Gonzalez hurt Chang with a hook to the body and he poured it on, punishing Jung with vicious hooks to the body and uppercuts and hooks to the head that pinned him in the corner until Gonzalez ripped off a dazzling four punch combination that crumpled Chang in a heap where he took the ten count.

Jr Flyweight Final

#4 (IBF,WBA,WBC & WBO) Yoko Gushiken 25-0 (18) vs #15 (IBO) Humberto Gonzalez 23-2 (20)

Humberto controlled most of the opening round with stiff jabs, Yoko momentarily stunned him with a hook in the final thirty seconds but Gonzalez quickly rebounded with a three punch combo. The Fierce Eagle forged inside in the second round and pounded Humberto to the body with hard lefts and rights, his rough tactics also drew two warnings for pushing down on the neck and low blows, but it was a strong round and he ended it with a wicked uppercut flush on the chin. Yoko continued to rake the body with a ruthless attack, Humberto countered with some clean uppercuts and hooks but Gushiken's volume overwhelmed his foe in round three.

The next two rounds were tight with Gonzalez using movement to avoid elongated inside work from Gushiken and he got his jab working again. In round six Humberto staggered his rival with a beautiful counter hook and he hammered Yoko over the final forty-five seconds landing several telling left hooks that drew swelling from Gushiken's right eye. The seventh was epic, Gonzalez peppered Gushiken early with lefts and rights while Yoko countered with his best jabs of the fight to the body and head, Humberto stunned him with an uppercut and sent sweat flying with a 3 punch combo; Gushiken erupted with two violent uppercuts that buckled the Mexicans legs and he blasted his body with both hands in the final fifteen seconds of the thrilling stanza (18-19).

The two way action continued in round eight, but this time Gonzalez was able to clearly win the round behind a devastating 3 punch combo and an uppercut that snapped back Gushiken's head. Humberto took the fight to the Fierce Eagle in the ninth, drilling his now badly swollen right eye with jabs and hooks and he knocked out his mouthpiece with a right hand late in what was a dominant round for the Mexican. Round ten was a hotly contested round as Gushiken was able to get back to a sustained body attack while Humberto countered with hooks into the substantially damaged eye of his counterpart, late in the round Yoko staggered Gonzalez with a short hook and got in two straight lefts and a hook to the body to potentially take the round.

They went at it in close in round eleven and a left uppercut drew immediate swelling from Humberto's left eye, Gonzalez responded with two violent crosses and they spent the last thirty seconds trading vigorously in the center of the ring with neither man taking a backward step.Gonzalez boxed brilliantly in the twelfth, scoring with stiff jabs and combinations while he thwarted the tired looking Gushiken's offense; Gonzalez did draw two warnings for infractions on the inside, but no points were taken.

Gonzalez continued to carry the action in the thirteenth and fourteenth as Yoko's now closed right eye prohibited him from seeing jabs and hooks coming his way. Feeling dire, Gushiken let it all hang out in the final round and he rocked Gonzalez with a vicious hook a minute into the final stanza, Yoko fired off a series of shots that had Gonzalez in bad shape but Humberto came back with hooks and uppercuts before they traded over the final thirty seconds of an excellent battle. Gonzalez was able to prevent Gushiken from repeating with a well earned UD, 146-138, 145-139 & 144-140

Charlie Magri 12-7-1 (6) vs Pone Kingpetch 15-5 (6)

Chartchai gained momentum here and there over the second half of the fight but Naito earned the UD. 96-93 x2 & 95-94

Angel Priolo 10-8-2 (4) vs Rayonta Whitfield 19-20-1 (3)

This was a nice style contrast and Rayonta used his jab and movement well while Angel landed with the more powerful blows. In round six, Priolo scored with a crushing right hand that staggered Whitfield and he followed up with a barrage of shots that may have been the difference in Angel scoring the tight MD. 96-95 x2 & 95-95

Robert Isaszagi 9-9-2 (5) vs Little Pancho 20-15-5 (7)

Pancho's one twos left Robert with a swollen right eye and a bad gash over his left eye and the disarray of his face caused the ref to call a halt in round seven.

Masibulele Makepula 42-18-3 (31) vs Valentin Angelmann 13-7 (8)

Santos Laciar 40-0 (20) vs Little Pancho 21-15-5 (8)

Muangchai Kittikasem 35-8 (24) vs Angel Priolo 11-8-2 (4)

Priolo was game, but he couldn't match the firepower of the Thai fighter and Muangchai floored him four times en route to the UD. 100-87, 99-87 & 98-88

Jimmy Wilde 20-0 (18) vs Daisuke Naito 13-6-2 (4)

Naito met Wilde in the center of the ring and they traded violent blows form the outset. Round three was violent as Jimmy sought to take control with a series of brutal right hands only to have Naito storm back with a volley of blows that had the Welshman in trouble before they ended the frenzied round with a half minute of violence on even terms, Daisuke went back to the corner with a swollen right eye, but he held his own (18-18).

The next few rounds may have saw Jimmy with a slight edge but Naito gave no quarter as they continued to traded brutal power shots and round six almost matched the third (18-14). Early in round seven Wilde buckled his legs with a right hand and The Atomic Atom unleashed a murderous volley of blows for over a minute that had the gritty Naito's head violently snapping back when the referee stepped in and put an end to a tremendous effort from the Japanese warrior.

(IBF & WBC) Vic Darchinayn 59-1 (39) vs Saido Yaoita 11-9-1 (1)

Vic is usually hell on a pure boxer, and this was no exception as he battered Yaoita from the outset and dropped him early in the second with an uppercut before forcing a stoppage later in the round with a slew of bombs while Saido floundered in the corner.

Fighting Harada 58-2 (33) vs Rodolfo Blanco 20-19-2 (7)

Giovanni Segura 42-2 (33) vs Rinty Monaghan 13-7-1 (2)

Mark Johnson 53-5-2 (30) vs Susumu Hanagata 15-6 (4)

After three competitive rounds, Johnson dropped Hanagata with an uppercut in round four and he battered his rocked foe until the referee stopped the contest early in round six.
