It's a possibility. Doggone it. I've been watching and hoping something you did would just click, but now I have to care. I have a pure fictional, just like you, all originally facegen generated. Let me think back off the top of my head and reconstruct where I am. Well, first let's define where I am, at 11.2.17 and "seemingly" facing only one problem, and I can't verify yet - because I haven't tried - if it will happen every time, but when a minor leaguer (AAA) is moved on to the active roster, I have to click Same Picture and then he has the uniform. So, back to the top of the head. At 11.2.15, IIRC, my facial hair setup all zeroed out and I had to put it all back in. That was the only quirk I recall, yet it may have played a role. Don't know.

So...I'd suggest this, because at least you and I share a similar league. Given you've already installed 11.2.17, you may go ahead and uninstall. Then, as you're already thinking, use the 11.2.15 updater if you still have it (don't think it's still online). Check for kicks whether the setup zeroed out like mine did, more FYI than anything. See if your menus work, etc..., but don't do anything other than look around. Close up the game and use the 11.2.17 - well, if you were zeroed out earlier, put 'em back in. After that, see where you're at and post up. Not like I'm going sleep much now that you have me interested in your problem.

I know it's frustrating, but you've already put a day into it, so what's the harm in another 45 minutes or so, right? I know you well enough to know your teeth are into it now, so you have to see where it will take you and hope it works better when you're done. Have at it. I'll compare notes and do whatever I can.

I have a couple of other ideas, but let's see what happens here first.

I will try again tonight but for some reason the work around doesn't seem to be working for me. What does everyone else have the facegen update setting set to? I have it set to update on January 1st. Should I set it to update on demand? I like to use the same picture function when a trade is made or a player is promoted.

Thanks endgame. I was reading through your post, and was getting excited that maybe you had an idea I could use....till I got to the part where you said try installing the 11.2.15 patch. Whoopsie! Yes, I have already deleted it from my machine since it was considered defective.

I'm going to open my game up and try a few more things. I might try a complete install over this copy and see what happens. I'm trying to be real careful though not to screw up the saved game I have going. I'll check in tomorrow some time and post what I've come up with.

you needn't do this for your minor league teams unless you are very particular. They will update, with menu options, the first time they get promoted or demoted. Anytime a player gets a uniform update, ie switches teams he will then also get the full options menu.

My current league started in version 4. Added facegen pictures the year they became available. Used the workaround I described here, and all of my players retained the same face while the hair\ethnicity menu issue was fixed.

Not an ideal situation and I believe Andreas will get this sorted out by the next patch. But really many here are overreacting, the sky is not falling. In the time it takes to come here and post one could almost be done updating a full MLB setup.

I tried this work around and it doesn't work for my league. Neither the update team photos or the promote/demote brings back the right picture menu.

With all the facegen weirdness and with storylines being turned on for existing leagues with no notice this is probably the worst patch ever.

Of note in my league, the facial hair settings did not reset to zero after .15 or .17.

I'm about as frustrated as my dog was in his batman costume.

My compliments to all of the people who have posted on this thread. Your efforts are appreciated - even if they have so far been unsuccessful. Reading through all these posts has brought me to a decision.

For myself, I am now at 2.17 but have not played any games since installing the latest patch. The choice for me is to stop playing any games lest I make things for my league even worse then they already are. I think it's best to 'freeze' my league until OOTP can get this mess sorted out. Hope its not too long.

Really? A patch that breaks, for some, a graphic feature in a text sim.

A patch that turns on a feature (allegedly, Andreas couldn't reproduce it) that has little to no effect (see complaints here http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ory-lines.html post #15) of how it's not up to what some expected.

The first affects graphics in a text sim not the actual playing of a baseball game. The second has a possibility of coming up very rarely and will not have any real affect, according to those that worked on the feature during development (refer again to the linked post in the preceding paragraph).

Irritating? Yes.
Needs a fix ASAP? Certainly.
The worst patch ever? Hardly.

I still cannot get the photo files in the game to function---since the .15 patch my existing games which all had original photos in them now are populated by team logos, fg's and an occassional photo---all the photos are in the image file but do not show in game----they are a combination of first name_last name and player_xxx naming conventions----they have not been changed to all player_xxx as we were told .17 would do-----in an effort to use the photos and at the suggestion of tech support I uninstalled the game and reinstalled 11.1.8----every existing league after the reinstall was corrupted and the game was unable to load any existing games----have reinstalled .17 and game will now load games but the photo problem persists---for a game that is proud of it's immersion factor let me just say that at least for me not much could be less immersive than having my players presented as team logos------is there no way to get the photos working again ?

Thanks.. that setting being turned on had me worried for a bit, I'm glad it has little to no effect.

I just sent in a ticket regarding 11.2.17 wherein the sim gets "stuck" after the MLB regular season. It hangs on a HS feeder league. You can manual go from one day to the next and the problem "goes away" after the year roll over, but it comes back every season.

Anyone else having this problem?

There have been ones where CF imported with no fielding ratings. There have been ones where RH\LH ratings were reversed so LHP did better against RHB, there have been ones where runners scoring from 3b when they shouldn't have made it back into the game when it had been fixed in a previous patch. There was a time when options\days of service time\arbitration etc. was being argued about. Someone found something on wikpedia to support how it should be done in OOTP and it was patched in only to find, of course, that whoever entered the wikpedia data didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about.

Tons of things have been broken when a new patch or version (a new version is really a mega patch since it's not being coded from scratch) has been introduced.

Hell, we just got done playing version 10 for a year with it's broken pinch hitting. Broken, eventually noted, and fixed(?, not really) only to have the real bug found and fixed for version 11. In version 10 in a blowout I only subbed position players while I was in the field. I didn't want the subs 1st AB of the game to be a PH appearance. Which one makes a bigger difference, graphical glitch or pinch hitters striking out at unrealistic astronomical rates?

If you want to argue this patch is worse than one that actually affects game play be my guest.

I won't get into the online aspect of it as I don't play that way. Maybe someone from that side of the ball can comment on how thing got borked with a new patch in the past. I know it hasn't always been smooth sailing.
