2. Delete all history.
3. Sim 1976-2000.
4. Leave history in tact.
5. Advance league to January 1, 2001.

For those who want to start with no history, they can always delete the 1976-2000 history, dump everyone into the pool, and start with an inaugural draft. But at least this way, the league should give static stats since it will have 2+ generations of game-generated players.
Trying to reconcile this entire thread with the RonCo thread regarding development modifiers. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...modifiers.html

It would seem to me that if you do what you mentioned above AND used RonCo's modifiers, you'd be ok stat-wise. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

No. The second quote is quite a bit later as the issue was examined further.

Been playing OOTP9 for about a week and have become addicted to it. Its the first true sports sim I've played and I can't believe its taken me this long to discover the genre.

That being said, I'm eager to jump into SkyDog's fictional league since everyone seems to love it. However, being new to the OOTP world I'm not familiar with the difference between the Quick Start and the 24 team template. If the Quick Start file is supposed to give me all the settings and teams I need, then what is the 24 team template for? A brief explanation of its use would be awesome.

The template is useful if you want to use a different league structure than mine, but just want to use my settings for stats purposes. Load up the template, and then you can delete/rename/restructure the league before starting the game. The other reason there are both is just a practical one: it's much faster and easier to produce a template, since no logos and colors are involved.

First post edited with new settings, appropriating RonCo's excellent work on development and aging. I'm testing right now to see what happens if one switches over to these modifiers midstream in my QS league. I have not yet updated the QS. I hope to get that done tonight or tomorrow.

My league is 21 seasons in, and I switched to these settings. There was a definite jump in offense the first season, but nothing that threw it out of whack, either. Only one new single-season offensive record was set--16 triples beat the previous record of 15. And actually a new pitching record was set: 11.90 K/9IP. From my tests, the first season has the highest offense, so early returns indicate that switching to these won't throw an existing league out of whack. I'll run it forward and report in periodically.

OK. I made the switch before the 2022 season. You can see the increase in offense, but it's not horrible by any means, and as you can see, it dropped back down into the original ranges in about 15 years.

The next few seasons...

<table class="lpo" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="911"><tbody><tr> <td class="sc">EC</td> <td class="sc">.255</td> <td class="sc">4.01</td> <td class="sc">Columbus Mudcats</td> <td class="sc">2039</td> <td class="sc">Houston Lone Stars</td> <td class="sc">4.23</td> <td class="sc">.262</td> <td class="sc">WC</td></tr> <tr> <td class="scg">EC</td> <td class="scg">.257</td> <td class="scg">4.11</td> <td class="scg">Lowcountry Gators</td> <td class="scg">2040</td> <td class="scg">Oklahoma City Tornado</td> <td class="scg">4.26</td> <td class="scg">.261</td> <td class="scg">WC</td></tr> <tr> <td class="sc">EC</td> <td class="sc">.258</td> <td class="sc">4.12</td> <td class="sc">Lowcountry Gators</td> <td class="sc">2041</td> <td class="sc">Oakland Black Knights</td> <td class="sc">4.10</td> <td class="sc">.258</td> <td class="sc">WC</td></tr> <tr> <td class="scg">EC</td> <td class="scg">.260</td> <td class="scg">4.14</td> <td class="scg">Nashville Hawks</td> <td class="scg">2042</td> <td class="scg">Vancouver Lumberjacks</td> <td class="scg">3.99</td> <td class="scg">.257</td> <td class="scg">WC</td></tr></tbody></table>

Yup. Based on my longer-term tests, there's no reason to believe stats won't stay right there after a generation.

Thanks for the work, not once but twice. Year in and year out, your league totals are what I trust for my fictional stuff. Appreciate it. I'd still like someone to explain to me how to get the totals averaged so quick sometime.

I have the zipped Quick Start file. To what directory do I unzip it?

edited to add: I tried the quickstart folder but when I went to open it I got an error that the game couldn't read the "world" file. Suggestions?

SkyDog, I was wondering what injury setting are you using?

There was a possible connection in the other thread about the injury setting having an effect on the offense and I didn't see you list what setting you use on page 1.

Have you found there to be no difference between low and normal injury settings as far as offensive output?

I never isolated for whether or not there's a difference. I decided to go with "Average" on injuries and fatigue.

Go to game setup. Then league setup. Click on functions, then edit schedule. From there, after clicking on schedule in the bottom right, you have the option to import schedule. I chose to import one from the 1970's (quite a ways down the list of schedule options). I believe you first need to uncheck use balanced schedule in league options if it is chosen.

SkyDog-

I know you input the new numbers into an existing league and got an acceptable level of offensive inflation the first few years, but did you use them to start a league? Because I just did and in year 3 and 4 one league has an ERA over 5 and BA .280. Other league is mid 4 ERA. 2 leagues, 8 teams per.

I believe the smaller the number of teams, the greater the chance for variance.
