I clicked on that page a couple of days ago and was surprised to see that Carlos Guillen was the starting shortstop on that amazing team. If they'd gone on to win the World Series, that edition of the Mariners would have a serious case as the best team in Major League history.

It also poses the serious question: How does one win 116 games with Al Martin as your starting leftfielder?

Soriano is back. Sheets is back. But the Redbird's pitchers are coming alive and the bats too.

Down 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Rick Ankiel came up with bases-loaded. Gary Majewski, a right-handed reliever from the Reds was replaced by "Everyday Eddie" Guardado, a lefty.

It doesn't matter to Ankiel as he hit a go-ahead grand slam in front of the St. Louis Cardinals' fans.

Too bad I only saw it on Internet. $@$!ing cable here in the Philippines, only shows the Yankees. Not to mention baseball is only shown on Saturday. That's why I hate the Yankees even more. What's up with them that they're the only team shown here in our country. Bah.

Yea the HR by Rick was awesome to see! Hate to see Juan get possibly seriously injured but at the same time glad he won't be around to steal ABs from Rick.

So I guess we're looking at a 3b Branyan/Cairo platoon at least until we find out if Spiezio is gonna play again this season.

That's sad. As much as I want to see more Ankiel at-bats, I don't want to see someone getting hurt for it to happen.

If John Incarnate is stealing at bats from Ankiel, then it's your genius manager who needs to take a fastball to the noggin.

I think he just wanted to make Encarnacion quiet and keep emotions in check in the clubhouse. But that's just my thought.

That isn't a part of it. It isn't like Encarnacion is some horrible baseball player. He gets on-base well enough against lefties that playing him against southpaws is probably the better option than Ankiel. Don't forget Ankiel is a guy who had a .319 OBP over nearly 400 AAA at-bats. This isn't Barry Bonds we are talking about, despite the success since being called up.

Wow. They're talking about Juan's injury as a potentially [maybe even likely] career ending one...
