I was playing Strat-O-Matic v5.0 on my Mac when I found OOTP2 and I have purchased every version on release day since.

I think we had been talking about OOTP since v2 (?) at FOFC. I remember how critical most people were of the early version...until v4. That was when most gave it good reviews (something about a dramatic improvement in financials, iirc) and I and a lot of others there got on board with OOTP.

Every version since 3, and ITP. Markus has a customer for life. His responsiveness to the community has earned my complete loyalty.

Inside the Park was a great idea that kind of fell flat. It seemed like Markus almost immediately regretted making it and kind of stopped supporting it after some time. I still think it would work great, but only as an extension of OOTP (a paid-for one, I'd assume), not as a standalone game. That way there could be more portability.

Basically, imagine being able to play OOTP from a player's standpoint rather than from a GM's standpoint. It would be awesome, and there could be some really great dynasty threads that way.

I am not sure of the version but I remember ordering by mail and the cd had an American Flag or Red,White and Blue colours if I remember correctly. I was actually a bigger fan of PTP and DMB and OOTP was just a game I bought to add to my collection. I also followed Puresim from the time Shaun started his blog about the design of the game and purchased the original game, but was not too impressed with it. Both games have sure grown up over the years.

I have from 3 up..was playing High Heat online sim leagues in '01 and '02. I played Tony Larussa in the mid to late 90's, and Earl Weaver Baseball in the early 90's. Before all those it was sheet and paper strat-o-matic.

I recall that OOTP3 was the first huge version, both in popularity as well as features. I played the earlier versions solo but when online leagues became popular (think that started with OOTP3) I pretty much stopped playing the game solo except for testing or feature analysis. Previous to OOTP3 I spent about the same time playing OOTP as I played DMB and Baseball Mogul.

I had purchased every version since version 3 BUT...

The buck will stop here, as I do not have the money to purchase 2007 and I was not one of the priviledged (despite being a "valued" customer) that was informed about the 20% discount for pre-ordering.

OH! I forgot, it was MY fault that I was not informed about the 20% discount...so sayeth the shepherd, so sayeth the flock.

1962 is still my favorite season to replay.
I bought Statis Pro Baseball in 1983 and must have played every game of every year with cards and paper. It was so much fun. Now 1983 is still my favorite season for sure. I bought it from Avalon Hill, boy that brings back memories.

A proud owner of OOTP2 through OOTP 2006, with "Season Ticket Baseball" thrown in as well. Wasn't too thrilled with OOTP 2006 but I have high hopes on OOTP 2007 considering what I've read and looked at in the way of screenshots.
