Seriously though, I'm not playing anymore add these:
- Ability to expand on your league(s) (especially historically speaking, really a game killer historically for me) - Email 4 players ready to come off the DL (I'll say it 1 MORE time )Great list everyone...I think even the smallest things end up becoming an epic feature in the fact you really need em' for than you thought. Here's hoping we get 75% percent of these features back (hopefully that ALL work) & get OOTP back on top for good... ***OOTP '07***Just add everything from 6.5 & tweak the AI and make sure features ACTUALLY work!

I'd love to see the ability to import real players directly into a fictional league that would then make them available via an inaugural draft. I believe this is akin to the create custom league function in previous OOTP versions.
Having to edit a historical league structure only works if you desire two sub leagues. If you wish to have one sub league you are out of luck. Please bring back the "create custom league" option or add importing players from a database to the "create fictional league" function. -Cork55 P.S. I will also second the suggestion for some sort of pregame announcement that has the teams playing, starting pitchers and a small blurb about how the teams are currently doing. Things in 6.5 that should be in 2007:
*Defensive substitutions on the Depth Chart *7-day lineups *Ability to get a Top 10 list of stats with qualifiers (like ERA and BA) *Ability to get a list of rookie stats leaders *Record book with editable league and team records *Ability to play a game and have it broadcast to your web site Some things in CATO that should be inlcuded: *Manager statistics *Progressive leaderboards *Post-season leaderboards *Team stat leaderboards *Grey Ink, Black Ink and HoF Criteria tests and leaderboards *Summary of awards and all-star appearances on player page

I haven't read this whole thread so don't know if this was said. But it has been said by many.
The ability to have an all star league. Historical teams from different years. Also. No little round player photos on the broadcast screen. Also. Fix the cutoff logos. |

Nice, clean, clear, uncluttered graphics and text on the in-game screen, schedule screen and leaderboards.
(make the faded logos an option) Put the catcher's stats on a lighter background so you can see it. (How in the world did no one see that on the main game screen during testing?) I don't know for sure as I have not loaded my logos up yet, but does V2006 chop off logos created for previous versions? If it does, please fix it. I have spent 3-4 years collecting my team logos and would hate to have them ruined that way. I have heard that the stadium coordinates do not work. Hope you can fix this, if it is true. I am waiting for patch #3 or #4 before I set up my universe. I only want to do it once. Hopefully by then most major problems will be addressed and missing elements will be in the new version. Next year, please don't "rush release" the game like you did this first version. You need to do a much better job of testing before you release it. On the leaderboards, list the top 10.
I could do without the picture of the leader, if it means we only get 7 players listed in each category. Top 10 would be better. |

yes, i know i'm a dork, but I haven't been able to play 2006 without the interrupting of games for no-hitters, 3 home runs, 5 hits, and so on....a must for those of us who just enjoy watching a season play out with all the ebbs and flows.
this and play by play that introduces new players and has stats will force me to quit playing 6.51, once and for all.

I've struggle to put into words what is missing from this game. I've owned every version and what has kept OOTP my favorite over years are:
1. Baseball Mogul is a little corny for my tastes. Maybe because it is too easy to play.??? I don't know, but it was never enough. 2. Puresim was in the past, purely slow, not intuitive, low playability. Clunky. 3. OOTP had the ease of use of Mogul and had much more complexity like puresim. It was always easy on the eyes. You could, if you wanted to, be involved in great depth working every detail that OOTP had to offer. You could also step back, and play from a far, concentrating on the owner/GM type decisions. OOTP has always allowed the user to produce complex/realistic results with ease. Sometimes I would want to follow every pitch other times I would want to move along in years quickly and see how my decisions panned out. I could do both in the same career. One year I might be more involved than others. However, I always felt I knew what was going on with my team; especially in the 6 version. It was easy to look at your entire organization on one screen. It was possible to scan the transaction screen and get a general feeling about your entire organization's strengths and weaknesses. It was like an organizational depth chart, which is also a real part of pro sports. It was easy to get to the information that you decided to use to evaluate your org. and get a overall idea about what to be looking for in the draft/trades/signings to fill weaknesses in every level of the organization. Im still not sure if all that explains what I think about the 2006 version... Maybe another list will help: 1. 2006 is Clunky. I don't want a game that gives me %100 accurate data but I do want a game where the data I want to base my decisions on can be easily accessed. 2. 2006 Lacks the small "creature conforts" or "icing on the cake" that other versions had. These small things like "trade for this player." The little "NL" or "AL" placed next to the seasons stat lines that the player was an all star. A "player search" that allowed the user to enter data so the AI would give you a list of players that fall into your perimeter. During quick sim, the "last 10" and "streak" in the standings - while small, this made it quick to recognize which direction your team is heading(losing or winning 10 in a row). a easy to read lineup card on the set lineup area next to a easily visible entire hitter list. The same with the pitching staff screen. There is a rediculous amount of scrolling the user has to do in 2006. 3. Almanac, easily read accessed reports, the stars that was just another part of the evaluation process, Contract information and career summary all on the same screen as player profile. In fact, 6 had most every thing you needed on the first player profile card. The HTML pages are not nearly as nice as the more streamlined player profile pages. 4. something else to evaluate high school /college talent on besides ratings. College stats are very important in today's baseball world. I hope I was to explain my thoughts accurately. Additions: draftee signing demands. - most draft picks nowadays are also based on signability - which in turn is what helps drive the statistical analysis- which rewards the ability to find not just talent but "Value" or bang for the buck. |

Please bring back the evaluation moddifiers for the AI judgement of players. I don't want the AI to just value players based on their ratings but also in their stats. In real life, there are always some average players that get a huge popularity boost after a monster season, that makes the fans and some teams to overvalue them. In real life nobody can just see ratings, we see stats and i loved how in 6.5 you could set the % of how the AI value the players based on ratings, current stats, past year stats, 2 years ago stats etc. I really miss this feature in 2006.
Another big request, in this case from FM instead of from OOTP6.5, give us the great players/coaches/GM's/media personalities that made the FM series the best text sims in the market. I want my players pissed if i trade away our top star who was also the team leader etc. Last edited by Icy; 07-13-2006 at 05:34 AM. |

- Hitting Streaks
- I liked seeing the hot and cold players in red and blue right on the game screen in 6.5. - In general, it seems to me that while playing out a game in 2006, the game is less aware of what is going on that it was in 6.5. In 6.5 if a player went 5-5 you would get a simple "Wow he's having a good game!" comment in the PbP. In 2006, accomplishments go unnoticed. 2006 doesn't seem to have a grasp for game situations as well as 6.5 did either. My team was getting wallopped 16-2 and a quick runner for the AI controlled team came up and bunted for a single and then stole 2nd on the next pitch. I did find the new "Hit the batter" feature useful at this point but even then, the pitcher should have been thrown out of the game and wasn't. 2006 seems to be more of a number cruncher game. The more you can make 2006 aware of the environment it is playing in, the better.
