3-2! Wanchope exposes the German defense again for his second. Game on? (73 minutes)

Smart play by Frings to fake an injury and break CR momentum

I know, I hate it when players do that, especially when those who are really injured badly have to wait for a stoppage in play as the other team doesn't always kick the ball out as they think he's faking it like the others.

And Klose won't get a chance for the hattrick as Neuville's come on to try and nullify the CR attacking outlets.

Pretty amazing opener, and a lot different than Senegal v France 4 years ago.

Frings has the #1 goal of the WC so far.

No doubt. Not only was Wanchope offside, but so was another of his teammates. Game should have been 4-0. Wanchope was offside on both his goals.

No he wasn't. After the game they showed with a line on the screen that Wanchope was onside on both occasions. And in his second goal, although his teammate was in an offside position, if the referee/assistant didn't think he was "active" (interfering with play) it couldn't have been offside.

So in that case both goals were rightly awarded.

EDIT: to clarify the second goal and rule

Now that's what international soccer should look like. Hopefully mroe teams will adopt an attacking mentality. If Germany can go all out, anyone can.
