If you did then you would be on the road 250 days a years being paid by one of 30 different clubs. And then you could only tell who was better a small % of the time. I highly doubt you are one of the people I described above. I do not care how much baseball you have watched. You DO NOT have the ability to determine a players worth just by watching them except in the most extreme of cases. So no...you don't have the magical ability to judge a players value by just watching him. That is where statistics come into play. You take the players output and then compare it against another players output by using many different ways of interputting his output. You then have the ability to a certain degree of success to tell if a player is better than another play. VORP is just one of the tools. I am glad it is in the game. The more stats packed into the game, the better. |

And don't hastily put the finishing touches on it just to meet the deadline. Haste makes waste. I have waited patiently for two years...can wait a little longer for a fairly bug free game. Just a comment on one of the game screens...might be the webcast screen. Please don't put "faded" logos on the scoreboard on top of the information. That is just cluttering it up. It doesn't serve any purpose. I dearly love logos...but don't do it that way. |

You know, I always thought TRTR was the abbreviation of The Road To Ruin.

If that what it takes to be a baseball nut, guess I am not a baseball nut, either. All I want is BA, Runs, Hits, Errors, HRs, RBIs, ERA, SO, BB...you can have all the rest. I do like OBA. |

Who needed HR? Who needed RBI? It's a number meant to encompass all the player's offensive contributions. Does it do that accurately? maybe, maybe not. It's another tool. If you don't want it, don't use it. Why would you refuse the option of a tool which could help? Unless you're fielding a team of 9 Barry Bondses, then I guess you won't need it. Congratulations on your acumen in putting together such a powerful team. |

Back to the screenshots. I take it by the first screenshot that there is no new awards in OOTP? No Relief Pitcher of the Year or Manager of the Year? Or even Postseason MVP? That's a bit disappointing.

Geeze why are people acting like I said stats don't matter? If you read my previous post, I explained my whole VORP deal. I had just never heard of it, and didn't like the fact that a simple question turned into a "how could you never have heard of VORP?" thing. And yes, I can just watch a game and tell if a player is good or not. And, no, I'm not a scout. And I'm not saying that I could compare 4th outfielders on seperate teams, which someone mentioned earlier, and was something I never thought of. My thinking was, and still is, anyone could take the best players in the games, and take some average players, and see the difference. And in my previous post I also said that I will more than likely end up using VORP, now that I know what it is, so let's drop it. |

I remember reading somewhere that we could customize the stats we see on certain screens. IMO that would be really, really cool. I would love to not be able to see earned runs or ERA until 1906 or so or caught stealings until the 20s. VORP is cool and all but I probably wouldn't include it on my own until the mid-90s at least. It's all about the proverbial fog of war to me.
