Having a good or bad OL doesn't have such a large impact that you throw 20 INTs. I know that it contributes, but he is still the guy who likes to make bad decisions when outside the pocket.

He is having a good year this year, but this is his only one. In 2003, he threw 7 picks in 11 games. With his history, you can predeict that he would throw - 6-8 more in the other 5 games that year.

A bad OL contributes more than just a bit to things like this. With a decent OL, he's not OUTSIDE the pocket near as much to have to make those decisions.

I'll take Plummer and the OL of your choice and you take Garrard and the OL of my choice.

We both get the same defense (any you choose).

He threw 20 INTs last year. I don't consider that to be a good season, even though he was half way decent every where else. Compared to the other QBs in the league, he is close to being in the bottom half last year.

This year, he is having a good year.

I've always been a Plummer detractor. This season he is doing very well overall, but I agree, Garrard, given the same circumstance, would do just as well.

2003, like some have said, was shaping up pretty well, but again, only 11 games. I'll still say 2003 was his only good season before this GREAT season. Last year, pretty good TD totals, but 20 INTs is guady. And even more argument for Garrard doing just as well with the Broncs? Plummer's numbers jumped once he went to Denver, but his playing did not change.

Unless my math is wrong--which well could be the case--I've got him at 21 carries a game. Granted, that will still put him at the 2nd most carries of his career in a season, but I maintain that he's not used enough in too many games....games the Chargers tend to lose, coincidentally.

Carries is a subset of touches, which would also include the receiving and return game for an offensive player.

I tend to think Jake Plummer is a guy that's just good enough not to beat you. In this offense, he is fine because most of the time he's asked to hand the ball off to one of the backs, and then use play-action, which he's very good at in the redzone. Now, take away the run and make him throw 30-35 times a game, and I think he'd be below average. Where this places him in the pantheon of NFL QB, I'm not sure. I haven't seen enough of Garrard to compare the two.
