Has anyone rated Steve Herelius? He's the current French heavyweight champion.

Yvon Robert HW (1940) Overall Rating = 1
Home - Quebec, Canada 1(1)-0-0 Robert was a French Canadian pro wrestler and briefly was a plodding boxer. He fought Natie Brown in a 1940 Montreal bout that was described by the Ring as a "fiasco". Robert went down in the first; Brown took him very lightly as he was clowning and posing for the crowd. In the second, Brown dropped from what he claimed was a foul but was counted out. Thus ended Yvon Robert's pro boxing career.

OLIAN ALEXANDER HW (1984-1998) Overall Rating = 1
Hometown - Waukegan, Illinois, USA 24(18)-10-0 Beat Henry Hearns and John Basil Jackson; lost to Corrie Sanders, Michael Grant, Obed Sullivan and Dwight Qawi. Alexander assembled a nice record against locals but couldn't handle the bigger boys. Unfortunately for Olian, "the bigger boys" included Phil Jackson (ouch), Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Lou Savarese and Lorenzo Boyd (double ouch).

Hometown - Noisy-le-Grand, France 7(4)-0-0 French Heavyweight Champion Herelius is currently undefeated (through March of 2005) but has not been a terribly busy fighter. He out pointed Antoine Palatis for the French title in 2003. He defended twice in 2004 and has one non-title win thus far in 2005.

JOHNNY HAYNES HW (1944-1951) Overall Rating = 3
Hometown - Los Angeles, California, USA 23(20)-18-0 Haynes was a free swinger that saw 31 of his 41 pro bouts end early. Unfortunately, 11 of those pow-wows with the canvas were his own. He beat Bob Garner, Curtis Sheppard, Chicken Thompson (who died from injuries received in this bout), Lee Q. Murray (twice), Buddy Millard and Rusty Payne. He was beaten by Willis Applegate, Omelio Agramonte (twice), Arturo Godoy (twice), Ezzard Charles, Tiger Jones, Johnny Flynn, Jimmy Bivins (twice) and Turkey Thompson.

James Helwig
This is a guy a ran across working on the Manfred Ackers project over in the European fighters thread.
Heavyweight Rating 3 USA 1971-74 22 wins / 1 loss / 0 draws / 15 KO Hometown: Fort Worth, TX Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Accummulated an impressive record (though against some terrible tomato can opponents) over a 3 year period and then dissappeared from boxing? Started out 9-0-0 with 7KO's around his home lands, then in October 1972 he took off for Europe to take on some better competition I would imagine his thinking? In a 6 month period through February 1973 he won 7 fights, 6 by KO including wins over Horst Lang, Christian Poncelet and Ferenc Kristofcsak. But then he heads back home to Texas. KO's Terry Sorrell in 2, wins a 10 round decision over Sonny Moore and KO's Leroy Caldwell in the 5th round. In October 1973 right after KO'ing Caldwell the two fight again, this time Caldwell winning a 10 round decision to hand Helwig his first and only career defeat. Helweig then through 1974 defeats Terry Daniels, and Larryh Renaud twice all by 10 round decision. That's it then, Helwig leaves the ring. 5 decision fights in his loast 6 fights, thinking he couldn't punch out the better competition and decided he'd gone as far as his abilities would take him?? |

Carter, Johnny Boudreaux twice and finally to Terry Daniels to finish his career. He beat James Tyler Singleton. James Tyler Singleton - LHW Rating 1 USA 1971-72 0 wins / 10 losses / 0 Draws / 0 KO Hometown: Beaumont, Texas Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto KO'd 9 times in 10 losses. Fought once in 1967 then rest of fights in 1971-72. Lost fights to Billy Strother, Richie Yant, James Helwig twice, Elgie Walters, Brian Kelly, Paul Patin and Frank Young. |
