Jeannette stops Burns
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
December 14, 1909 Joe Jeannette (WBC/A) (20-0) scored a TKO5 when a cut over challenger Tommy Burns (3/4) (20-7-2) right eye was too bad to continue. Burns was cut over the eye in the second round and his corner never stopped the bleeding. The cut was worsened twice before the ring doctor finally stopped it. Burns was giving as good as he was getting however as I had the fight even after 4. On the undercard LH - Gunner Moir (21/17) (9-12-1) KO5 John Miller (UR) (8-4-1) (miller at pre) MW - Billy Papke (2/2) (18-2) KO10 Billy Baker (3/6) (19-16-4) (88-80) Almost had to make a mandatory retirement rule after this fight as it was one of the worst beatings I have seen in this game. Baker was down 7 times. He had a cut over his right eye, under his left, his lip and nose. Also his right eye was swollen shut. If that wasn't bad enough Papke recieved 4 warnings in the fight 3 times for hitting below the belt. FW - Young Griffo (14/7) (29-7-6) UD10 Tommy Connolly (16/20) (11-7) LW - Barney Donovan (club/21) (19-19-2) KO4 Paddy Smith (UR) (7-5-1) (donovan at post, smith at pre for this club fight - donovan moves back to the main division with this win) This shows how tough the LW division is, donovan is 5-0 in his last 5 fights and only ranked 21st of course he only had one decent win in the streak and his average pp for the five fights is 330 BW - Joe Bertrand (UR) (8-2-2) TKO4 Austin "worst rated 7 fighter ever" Rice (club) (5-23-4) (bertrand at pre, rice at post for this club fight) |

Cole cruises past Ryan
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
December 16, 1909 George Cole (CH) (11-7-4) scored an easy UD15 over challenger Buddy Ryan (6/8) (12-13) for his 3rd defense of the WBA welterweight title. Ryan fought pretty decent in the first 3 or 4 rounds and then Cole took over and pretty much won out. I had it 147-139 and Jens Oehlerking, ringside, had it 146-139. The official judges had it a little closer at 144-141/144-141/146-139. On the undercard LW - Arthur Chambers (8/6) (14-2-1) TKO4 Arthur Douglas (29/29) (11-5) (30-28) (Douglas at pre) HW - John Dwyer (50/29) (23-10-1) MD10 Dan Egan (26/22) (19-17) FW - Oscar Gardner (3/3) (15-4-1) TKO7 Charles Lampey (UR) (9-3-2) (Lampey at pre) LW - Horace Leeds (UR) (9-2) UD8 Mike Cushing (club) (11-22-5) (leeds at pre, cushing at post for this club fight) HW - Peter Felix (club) (13-16-2) DRAW10 James McCoy (club) (9-19-2) (felix at post, Mccoy at end for this club fight) |

Dixon unifies BW title
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
George Dixon (CH) (29-7-1) scored a KO10 over WBA champ Frankie Neil (CH/12) (19-18-3) to unify the Bantamweight titles. Dixon dominated the fight from the opening bell dropping only the 5th and 6th rounds. Neil was down in the 8th and down for good in the 10th. Dixon's win means that 4 out of my 8 classes now have a unified champ with the HW division having 3 belts owned by 2 fighters. I had the fight 88-82 at the time of the stoppage. On the undercard BW - Johnny Coulon (4/3) (21-3-2) UD10 Jimmy Williams (UR/25) (7-6-2) (williams at pre) MW - Tommy Ryan (8/7) (37-2-1) KO7 Denny Kelliher (15/15) (18-18-3) FW - Abe Willis (33/33) (10-5-2) UD10 Tommy Love (UR/17) (9-3-3) (97-95)(both at pre) BW - John Connors (UR) (7-2-2) DRAW8 Dan Rowan (UR) (7-1-2) (both at pre for this club fight) LH - Charles Cooley (club) (6-11-2) UD10 Chris Pearson (club) (5-17-1) (both at post for this club fight) |

So Mike, are you going to devise schemes to break up the titles once they are all unified?

Well I've already decided that if the champ retires or moves up, the titles are broken up again. Also if the champ only has one title on the line and loses the other goes vacant. But it hasn't come up yet.
I would like for it to because I don't really want just one champ in each division. Since it's luck of the roll on which title (or both) he is fighting for I may throw out the rule if they go three defenses of one but not the other the the ignored one will be stripped (make sense?) I'm dragging my feet sort of right now waiting for a new beta patch at least and also playing Bowl Bound. But I try to do at least a little each day. Plus I'm getting a new computer for Christmas so I'm waiting to move everything over also. |

McAuliffe stops Welsh in the 10th
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
December 24, 1909 Jack McAuliffe (CH) (32-5-2) scored a KO10 over Freddie Welsh (2/4) for his 8th defense of the WBA title, his WBC belt was not on the line in this fight. The fight was a very close boxing match until McAuliffe landed a prefect and brutal hook to end the fight in the 10th. The ref could've counted to 100. I had it 87-86 for the champ at the time of the stoppage. Welsh was fighting the right fight as he had landed 52% of his punches to McAuliffe's 24%. On the undercard BW - Owen Moran (11/14) (24-6-6) UD10 Biz "you got what I need" Mackey (UR) (8-4-1) (mackey at pre for this fight) HW - George Gardner (32/34) (19-11-2) TKO4 Tom Lees (36/49) (20-16) 3(30-27) HW - Hank Griffin (39/32) (17-8-2) UD10 Harry Smith (UR/42) (10-4-1) (smith at pre) LH - Charles Goff (34/26) (13-9-2) SD10 Dan Flynn (14/8) (11-6-2) (Goff stepped up to LHW for this fight, Flynn had a loss worth -1400 come off his last five) MW - John P. Clow (club) (16-20) TKO9 Billy Devine (club) (5-19-4) (clow at end, devine at post - devine stepped up to MW for this club fight) |

Stunning news from the LBA
At the end of the first decade 4 time world champion Bob Fitzsimmons has decided to call it a career. He won both the WBA and the WBC Middleweight titles before moving up to Light Heavyweight where he also won the WBA & WBC titles.
His retirement throws the Lightheavyweight division into chaos as both titles are now vacant. Last edited by mh2365; 04-15-2007 at 08:08 PM. |

Just a quick note .... I managed to get everything moved to the new computer just fine. The only problem is that I don't have Corel (quattro pro) on the new computer and I can't seem to find the disks.
The spreadsheet that came on this computer is microsoft works which I can't seem to figure out how to get color text in the boxes. So I am either going to buy Quattro Pro off of e-bay or find my corel disks. I will probably be away from this thread a few days either way. |

Okay I bought wordperfect 12 (which has quattro pro) off of ebay yesterday ... so hopefully within a week I'll be up and running. Pretty sad that I'm so used to my color codes on my spreadsheet that I had to buy quattro pro just to continue

Okay I found a trial demo that's good for 30 days which is more than enough time for the copy I bought on ebay to come.
