May 1950 update
The first partial month of baseball is in the books. A race out of the gate as the Philadelphia Phillies come sprinting out of the gate in the National League and are currently riding a
13 game winning streak. And the hapless Boston Braves are 1-14. Over in the American League, the Tigers are enjoying a slight lead over the defending champs, the Yankees.

June 1st 1950 Update
Philadelphia had killed the National League earlier in June but have cooled off a bit. The Washington Senators came roaring out and took their place in the American League
at Second place, while Detroit was not quite as hot. The Giants are trying to stay in the ballpark behind the Phillies. It is still early in the season, but Tigers' Johnny Groth is
trying to become the Leagues latest .400 hitter. The last person do that feat was Phillies' Cecil Travis in 1939, he hit .401.

Washington Senator Report
Record 27-15: 2nd Place 3 GB
Senators were hot to hotter in June with rookie Eddie Mathews hitting .368 with 5 HR and 22 RBIs. Connie Creeden tore up the league hitting leadoff at .398. Duke Snider is on pace
to hit 37 dingers, a feat not done since 1938 and 1939 in which Hank Greenberg hit 37. All time is 40 with Hack Wilson in 1930. pitchers Bob Feller and Warren Spahn are tied with 7 wins apiece.
