Corbett close but not quite
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization.
November 20, 1909 Jem Driscoll (ch) (33-5-1) had a close call but pulled out a SD15 over Young Corbett (10/6) (19-15-4) to defend the WBA Featherweight title for the 5th time. The fight was very close for the first five rounds with Driscoll having a slight edge in all five rounds. I had it 4-0-1 after 5. In a non-championship fight it might have been split differently. Only one of the official judges had any of the rounds scored for Corbett. That made a huge difference as Corbett dominated the middle rounds, even dropping Driscoll in the 9th. But all that did was tie up the fight. Driscoll cleared his head and finished strong and won the 15th on all three scorecards which got him the victory. I had it 143-142 Driscoll, as did Markus Heinsohn ringside. The official judges had it 143-142/142-144/145-140. On the undercard FLY - Kid Murphy (3/3) (16-2-2) DRAW10 Joe McGrath (UR) (8-1-2) (mcgrath at pre) WW - Terry Martin (3/3) (15-2-1) SD10 Charley Hitte (6/11) (15-11) LW - Tommy Murphy (39/41) (10-13-3) UD10 harry Stone (UR/36) (8-6-1) (stone at pre, Murphy at post) MW - Denny Kelliher (13/15) (18-17-3) TKO10 Paddy Levin (UR/10) (10-2-3) (levin at pre) BW - Harry Ware (club/9) (11-11-2) SD10 Tommy Feltz (club) (12-20-2) (feltz at post for this club fight, Ware moved back to main with this win) |

Did you find on your ranking people with negative record, in better rank that people with positive record?

Beginners for December 1901
The beginners went 41-7-2 against the TC's this month to end the year.
HW - Billy Cadman (3-3-4) reached his 10th fight and moved up to club although he will stay as a beginner. I'll get these type of guys even though my beginner stage is 5 to 8. Cadman has had 3 fights towards that goal. Hopefully Andreas will fix the manual change of stage problem before the release of the aging system. |

Main division vs TC's December 1909
44 out of the 138 fighters scheduled to fight this month in the main division got to fight TC's and they went 38-4-2. Scheduling this month is taking a while due to finalizing end of the year records for those not scheduled to fight.

Fitzsimmons retains WBA title
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization.
December 5th, 1909 Bob Fitzsimmons (CH) (34-4) scored a TKO12 over John Donaldson (6/6) (15-11) to win his 3rd defense of the WBA Lightheavyweight title. Fitz's WBC belt was not on the line in this fight. Fitzsimmons started out slow splitting the first 6 rounds before dropping Donaldson in the 7th. Donaldson got up slow but held out for the rest of the round. He also started swelling around his right eye in the 7th. Fitzsimmons continued to pound away in the 8th and 9th rounds before dropping Donaldson 3 times in the 10th. Donaldson amazingly got to his feet all 3 times. Donaldson gave it one last go in the 11th, throwing everything he had left and winning the round. But it took it's toll as the fight was stopped in the 12th with Donaldson exhausted on the ropes and not fighting back. I had it 106-99 at the time of the stoppage. On the undercard WW - Joe Walcott (18/6) (21-13-3) KO10 Al Neill (9/18) (7-10-2) HW - Frank Childs (23/11) (21-14-5) SD10 Jimmy Elliot (44/51) (24-7-3) LH - John Flood (23/11) (9-10-1) TKO10 Jack Beauscholte (25/25) (8-10-2) LW - Jewey Cooke (23/23) (12-7-3) UD10 Harry Stone (38/41) (8-7-1) (stone at pre) HW - Syd Hughes (club) (9-12-1) KO8 Gunner White (club) (3-19-2) (white at post in this club fight) |

Interesting how Fitz is doing well in your uni. Since he made the switch from Heavy to Middleweight in mine he has gone downhill fast.
The Dobbs file you were after is on my WBF thread. |
