I'm taking a couple days off from my dynasty threads to play around with OOTP6.
Once I'm familiar with all the nuts and bolts of it, I'll switch over after finishing the current season. |

1974 League Championship Results
American League Championship Series New York (A) (105-57) squeaks by Cleveland (91-71) in 6 games Dick Stuart continues to perform poorly in the postseason, but the rest of the Yankees manage to make up for his anemic bat, most notably George Selkirk and Fred Lynn, who each batted over .325 with 1 HR and 4 RBI in an extremely low-scoring series. National League Championship Series Brooklyn (98-64) dominates Pittsburgh (97-65) in 4 games The Superbas live up to their name with a 4 game sweep of the Pirates. Ace Jim Palmer sets the tone with wins in Games 1 and 4, and Butch Wynegar leads the bats with a .462 average. |

1974 WORLD SERIES PREVIEW
NEW YORK YANKEES (105-57) - The Yankees are certainly the class of the American League. Since George Steinbrenner led a group of investors to purchase the team in January, 1973, he has transformed a team that spent most of the 1960's in the cellar into a baseball machine. The team is quite obviously built around Fred Lynn (.362, 43 HR, 113 RBI). Free agent acquisition Dick Stuart (.245, 45 HR, 110 RBI) is quite excited to face his old team in the World Series, but he will need to improve his postseason performance. Their pitching staff is led by two 20-game winners in Jack Powell (20-10, 3.05 ERA, 105 K) and Joe Bonikowski (20-7, 2.70 ERA, 182 K). They also boast the best closer in game: John Michaels (8-2, 1.07 ERA, 45 Saves). This could be the start of many World Series in the Big Apple. BROOKLYN SUPERBAS (98-64) - Brooklyn is looking for redemption after last year's upset. Though they have a number of different names from the 1973 Superbas, they still can run with the best of them. Bobby Thomson (.267, 28 HR, 127 RBI) and Pete Reiser (.293, 12 HR, 87 RBI) fit right in at their new digs, helped out by Darrell Evans (.280, 21 HR, 113 RBI), acquired last season from Chicago (N). On the mound they have Jim Palmer (24-10, 3.09 ERA, 200 K), but their #2 man, Russ Kemmerer (20-9, 2.10 ERA, 247 K) is out with a strained bicep and is unlikely to make it back for the Series. PREDICTION - Brooklyn is too hobbled to put up much of a fight. Yankees in 6. |

1974 WORLD SERIES RESULTS
Game 1 New York (A) 0 - Brooklyn 9 In Game 1 of the '74 Subway Series, Jim Palmer throws a complete 5-hitter while the Superbas walk all over Sandy Koufax. Gary Geiger geta a homer and 4 RBI, while Bobby Thomson bats 4 for 4. Game 2 New York (A) 2 - Brooklyn 3 Charlie Hough and Joe Bonikowski treat the fans to a pitchers duel before pinch-hitter Pearce "What's the use?" Chiles wins it with a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 9th. Game 3 Brooklyn 3 - New York (A) 10 The Yankees score 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning off of Rube Ehrhardt, putting the game away before Brooklyn has a chance. Game 4 Brooklyn 5 - New York (A) 0 Sandy Koufax falls again to the Superbas as 4 Brooklyn pitchers combine to shutout the Yanks, taking a 3-1 series lead. Butch Wynegar knocks one out, but Jim Palmer has the postseason end early when he has to leave the game with a torn tricep muscle. Game 5 Brooklyn 24 - New York (A) 6 Brooklyn literally spanks the Yankees, scattering 21 hits and 15 walks to humiliate them in front of the hometown fans. Bobby Thomson knocks in 6 RBI and Charlie Hough helps his own cause with 3 hits and 2 RBI. 1974 CHAMPIONS - BROOKLYN SUPERBAS 18TH CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES MVP: Bobby Thomson .526, 2 HR, 11 RBI |
