Paul Hinson
April 19, May 7, and May 30, 1928 – those were the three dates when Paul Hinson played in the major leagues, each one of them for the Boston Red Sox. He was an infielder, though you wouldn’t know it from his statistical record. He never put on a glove in a big-league game. All he ever did was run the basepaths. After baseball, he became a police officer.
Didn't have a facegen so I used his police photo as the basis for the facegen. |

It's the database you are using that is causing it. I use the historical_database.odb file to import players. That's the one with the "correct" facegen IDs and is what I think one is supposed to use - at least I always have...
Here's action laying it out in another thread ![]() https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=297861 Last edited by LansdowneSt; 08-17-2021 at 09:33 PM. Reason: Added link to another thread WRT database selection |

Thanks for Tekulve. Yeah, he does need glasses, and yeah, it's tough, but that's heaps better than the raccoon eyes facegen he had (or the glasses-free one).
I'm going to assume that the perpetual smile comes from the fact that he was able to play major league baseball for so long with that pitching motion... ![]()

Dick Johnston
Dick Johnston, who was otherwise a below-average hitter, had an excellent season for the 1888 Boston Beaneaters leading the National League in triples and was third in the league in both doubles and home runs that year. He was considered a top center fielder, playing close to the infield in the way that Tris Speaker later did, and galloping back for fly balls hit over his head. Johnston was a printer by trade and a heavy drinker. - bRef Bullpen wiki
Redid the facegen. If I could go back in time, I'd ask all these mustached ballplayers to face he camera directly. The partial turn messes up the mustaches terribly. |

Ryan Hancock
Ryan Hancock was both a pitcher and quarterback at BYU. There he wielded a 93 mph fastball, and was 15-0 with a 0.56 ERA, 155 strikeouts in 85 innings. In the bigs, we went 4-1 in nearly 28 innings in 1996 before returning to the minors. - BYU
Redid the facegen using a BYU photo as opposed to the bRef photo. |

Jumbo Harting
In 1886, a young Ed "Jumbo" Harting went 1-3 with a double for the American Association St. Louis Browns. It would be his only big-league game. Two years later, he married. I know this because the Facepack crew found this newspaper clipping of his golden anniversary and it is the only photo I can find for him.
I made a facegen for him and then used a texture overlay to make him young while holding that same facial structure. I hope his wife would approve. The face fills out based on his in-game weight listing. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 08-18-2021 at 07:53 PM. |

Otis Stocksdale
Otis Stocksdale pitched most of his major league career during a lively ball era with the Washington Senators. The "Old Gray Fox" never had a winning record as a pitcher but hit over .300. After the majors, he played in the minors for many years.
I had no facegen so made this one. |

Hey everyone. LansdowneSt happened to catch me on Twitch and reached out, expressing that there's been some concern. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm fine and that nothing bad has happened to me beyond the standard burnout that I wind up with.
I don't have a lot in the way of work to show over the last few months - mostly just touch-ups made here and there. I haven't even begun to look at the pages and pages of work that you guys have done in my absence. I feel like I owe the community more than I am capable of repaying. I also genuinely feel terrible about how poorly I've handled this project since I took over responsibility for it. |

Tom Heintzelman
Tom Heintzelman was an infielder playing in 90 games over parts of four seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. He had a break in service to serve in Vietnam. Heintzelman's father, Ken Heintzelman, had a 13-season MLB career as a pitcher.
I didn't have a facegen so I made this one. |

Glad you are well! No worries! - everyone gets burnout and needs a recharge from time to time. It's a big community of great folks - yourself included for keeping the project going in the first place! - and we'll all keep the flame going and lean on each other as we go!

Charlie Bartson
Charlie Bartson pitched with the 1890 Chicago Pirates of the Players League. Mark Baldwin and Silver King each made 56 starts, while Charlie had 20. Charlie managed the Peoria team in 1889 and was the president of the team after his playing career ended. An announcement in the Norman Daily Independent of June 21, 1909 stated that Bartson, president and co-owner of the Peoria team, had sold his stock and was retiring from baseball after 25 years of involvement with the sport. He was named a sergeant in Peoria's police department in 1899. - bRef Bullpen wiki

Has anyone re-done Eddie Gaedel to get rid of the NBA Jam head?
Also is there or will there be an updated zip file? If not I need to start saving all these updates.

(Back after being distracted for a while. Hope you've all been well.)
So St. Louis brought Steve Carlton home after an injury-shortened 1981. A pity the Cardinals didn't keep Tom Seaver for an impressive veteran duo. I mean, if you're signing Randy Lerch, ffs… (Seaver's season in St. Loo wasn't that great [11-10, 4.19] but it was a clear step up from the disaster that was his Cincinnati swan song, He's off to Detroit, which might be rough for a fading star, but he'll certainly benefit from lots and lots of run-support.) Meanwhile, let's talk Gene Dotson. (Probably not related to Rich Dotson, although after that whole "Rich is secretly Turk Farrell's son, DNA tests show" deal, I'm hesitant to close any doors.) A four-year QB at The Citadel, where he's in their Hall of Fame, Gene put up nice numbers at AA Arkansas in 1978 and 1979, before flopping in a two-week trial at AAA Springfield in 1980 and being sent back to Little Rock. He did fine at AAA the next year (.805), but was too old (28) to interest a World Championship-bound parent club, and so spent 1982 in Japan, returning for a half-season coda at Louisville the next year. In the game, Gene had a decent start at Springfield in 1980, got called up and was even listed as the "regular" for his half-season part-time work, as the Redbirds couldn't find a successor to Lou Brock. (Cue Mets jingle and funky "Lou Brock!" graphic.) For 1981, the Cardinals signed Dave Collins and sent Gene back to AAA, where he apparently spent the season sulking. But he's back this spring, as Collins left for free agency. At the moment, the listed LF is Bobby Murcer, who sat out 1981 after being let go by the Yankees, with the likes of Southington CT's Russ Laribee also looking at the slot. I'm sure Gene wouldn't be the first choice, but who knows right now? |
