The father's day "Miracle" That I missed out on

Back in 1964 during Fathers' Day weekend, here's what happened to me.
The Phillies, my favorite team, were due to play a four game weekend series against the Mets at Shea Stadium, in it's inaugural season. As a 14 year-old, I got my father to take me and a friend to the Friday, Twilight doubleheader. Great experience - Shea was sparkling clean and brand new. The next morning I was awoken by a phone call. It was my uncle and he had an extra ticket for that afternoon's game - do you want to join him and my cousin to take in a game this afternoon?
Groggily I accepted his invitation. Three games in two days - Pretty good I thought at the time.
However, the only game of the series that I didn't go to was June 21, 1964, the day Jim Bunning pitched a perfect game. I'd gone to the local swimming pool that Sunday and only became aware that Bunning was about to make history when I joined a crowd gathering around someone's transistor radio. There were already two outs in the ninth and the only connection I had with that perfect game was listening on the radio to that last strikeout, despite having witnessed, in person, all the other games in the series. My timing was just a little bit off.

Bob Miller - Longest-Lived !950 Phillies "Whiz Kid"

Bob Miller, who turned 92 Saturday, June 16, is the longest-lived Whiz Kid (1950 N.L. champion, Philadelphia Phillie player.)
He is the only player from that tam to have lived to that age (92).

Longest Living "Whiz Kids".

Longest-Lived Whiz Kids (members of the 1950 National League champion Phillies).
Here's a short list of the 1950 Phillies players who survived the longest.
Three are still alive, all pitchers (Bob Miller, Paul Stuffel and Curt Simmons)..
I used 1/2 to indicate that a player died before reaching his birthday in the year of their death.
I used 85 years of age as the cut off point for the list ,but then added Ken Heintzelman who passed away at age 84, just two months before his 85th birthday
(Total: 9 Players).

.
Bob Miller - RHP - 92 yrs, 0 months. (1926-) Bob just turned 92..- Miller made his MLB debut in Sept. 1949 and then went 8-0 to start the 1950 season before finishing at 11-6.
(born: 6/16/1926). He turned 24 during the 1950 season.

Paul Stuffel - RHP - 91 yrs, 2 mos (1927-) Stuffel was a September call-up making his MLB debut on 9/16/50. and he only appeared in 3 games.
(born: 3/22/1927). He turned 23 during the 1950 Spring Training exhibition season.

Curt Simmons - LHP - 89 years, 1 Mo. (1929-). Curt went 17-9 for the Phillies in '50, and was an inexplicable N.L. all-star team snub in '50. He was on track for 20 wins until his Army Reseve Unit was activated. Three time all-star but could have been an all-star at least 5 years. Was 193-183 lifetime. Would have been a 200 game winner if not for missing 1 1/3 seasons to military service (LATE 1950 TO EARLY 1952). Simmons was younger by 20 days than Steve Ridzik, making him the youngest of all 1950 Phillies, beginning the season at age 20 and turning 21 more than a month into the season. He was half of the Phillies 1-2 righty-lefty punch: Robin Roberts - RHP/Simmons - LHP. Simmons was among the best #2 pitchers in baseball in the 1950s..
(born: 5/19/1929). Began the season at age 20 before turning 21 five weeks into the season.

Ralph 'Putsy' Caballero - INF (1927-2016) - died at age 89. Seldom used utility infielder. New Orleans native who lost quite a bit of personal property and memorabilia to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Made MLB debut at age 16 during World War Two baseball manpower shortage (Sept. 1944).

Jackie Mayo - OF (1925-2014) - died at age 89, shortly after his birthday. although he spent parts of six seasons from 1948 to 1953 with the Phillies, he spent all of 1950 in the minors until a brief call-up at the end of the season and he remained on the Phillies roster for the world series, where he saw some action. He appeared in just 18 regular season games for the Phillies in 1950..

Hank Borowy - RHP - (1916-2014) died at age 88. Only pitched three games for the Phillies at the start of the 1950 season before he was sold to the Pittsburgh Pirates in June,. Won over 100 MLB games - Was a 1944 NL all-star. Retired after his 1951 season with Detroit - AL.

Stan Lopata - C (1925-2013) died at age 87 1/2. Reserve catcher in 1950, behind Andy Seminick, Lopata would become a two-time NL all-star in 1955 & 1956, hitting 22 and 31 home runs, respectively in those all-star seasons.

Jimmy Bloodworth INF - (1917-2002) died at age 85. Reserve infielder near the end of his career who had been a starting third baseman with Washington - AL in the late 1930s and 1940s..

Ken Heintzleman - RHP (1915-2000) died at age 84 1/2. (lifespan was exactly: 84 years, 10 months). Had a disappointing year for the Phils in '50 going 3-9 after having tied for the team lead in wins in 1949 when he went 17-10.

I haven’t checked in here in a while, but as the person that shared that traveling photo of the Colt .45s, a mighty thank you to the person who shared the Umbricht auction pictures. Very cool to see that.

Wikipedia's oldest living MLB Players list

#100 on Wikipedia's oldest living players list, Pitcher, Don Ferrarese
(MLB Career: 1955-1962) turned 89 four days ago on June 19. That means that this is now a rare occasion where all of the 100 oldest living MLB players are at least 89 years of age.
#101 Hector Lopez (MLB Career: 1955-1966) is only 15 days away from his 89th birthday (Born: July 8, 1929).
73 players are at least 90 years of age and 13 players are at least 95 years old. Three players were born before 1920 and are at least 98 years of age, with 1941 & 1942 Philadelphia Athletics pitcher, Fred Caligiuri being the only living player to reach 99 years of age. Born October 22, 1918, Caligiuri is just past 99 years, 8 months of age.

Cubs' Clubhouse Attendant Yosh Kawano Dies at Age 97

Cub fans are familiar with Yosh Kawano, because he was a clubhouse attendant at Wrigley Field for 65 years. He had a longer history with the Cubs than any other person. He died on Monday, June 25.

The photo is from 1954, and shows Ernie Banks standing behind Yosh. The source is Pinterest.

Missing TV's pics

In the last month, I have missed 3 pics from Topps Vault's ebay site. Would greatly appreciated to find them.

The 3 pics are from their kq series.

There is kq032, who should be Tony Auferio, Cards minors, since TV usually offer a pair of the same player's pics (kq031 is Auferio...face).

There are also kq163 & 164...don't know who, but alphabetically listed between Bare(161-162) and Barranca (165-166).

Thanks in advance.
