Wigan have signed Andreas Granqvist from Helsingborg and Kristofer Haestad from IK Start both Internationals, Granqvist a Swedish defender and Haestad a Norwegian midfielder. Have to say don't know much about them only that they are both highly rated and young and both are on loan so wont cost much apart from wages even if they don't work out, news is that Nathen Ellington could be coming back to Wigan as theres been plenty of talk about him and by all accounts isn't in the WBA line up today.

Sheffield United v Arsenal 1st Half.

Arsenal have had most of the possesion but a good deal of that possesion as been in their own half and in midfield, alot of Sheffields possesion has been in the Arsenal half and 5 shots on goal with 4 on target compared to Arsenals 2 shots on goal and only 1 on target backing this up.

Sheffield lead 1-0 with a goal in the 41st minute when Nade conected with a through ball, which he took to the edge of the penalty box and slotted past the on coming Lehmann to score his 1st Preiership goal.

Alot of teams have stuff wrote on the seats, most it's sponsors but some do have nicknames and tributes to players of the past an example being Preston North End who have pictures of Tom Finney and Bill Shankly on their seats.

Big development in the Sheffield United v Arsenal game is that in the 61st minute Sheffields goalkeeper Paddy Kenny goes down with a groin injury and is forced to go off, Neil Warnock never goes with a goalkeeper on the bench so is forced to put Phil Jagielka in goal and bring on Michael Tongue.

Because of injuries Jagielka was already playing out of position within the back four (usually plays midfield), also because Warnock doesn't go with a goalkeeper on the bench this isn't the first time that Jagielka has ended up in goal.

Its time for England to join most of the rest of the world and have 7 named instaed of 5.

Personally I think 5 is a good number, it makes the manager think do I put a goalkeeper on the bench or risk it, you put 7 on the bench and it takes another decision away from the manager and makes it easier for him.

As long as no more than 3 subs are used why cant everyone be eligible? I have never understood this part of the rule.

My (yes, I've dropped the our) very favourite American striker got a mention on this week's edition of the Five Live programme "Fighting Talk". http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/progra...tingtalk.shtml
It's our radio version of ESPN's Around the Horn.

Anyway, Detroit's own Greg Brady (http://wdfn.com/pages/Brady.html) had Landon Donovan, along with Scott Parker, as his "sports person who will be glad to see the back of 2006".

Just for you LD haters out there.

Because it cost's money to place players on the bench that's probably one of the big reasons why.

I knew most had their team name or nickname on the seats, but I hadnt seen an emblem previous, nor the photographs of Preston...nice touch.

I seem to remember UKHS having a website that listed loads of games in all sorts of countries, so I wonder if he knows (can find out from that website) when the last professional football game of the year is played and where?

Sheffield United v Arsenal wrap up.

Not to take anything away from Sheffield United who outplayed Arsenal, I do have to say however Arsenal were terrible. When a sub goalkeeper comes on you try and test him early before he warms up, when a player who isn't a goalkeeper gets put in between the sticks you pepper him with everything you can. Jagielka went in goal on the 61st minute mark and it took them until the 85th minute to trouble him, that's 24 minutes without having a worthwhile shot on goal.

Arsenal play like they have 10 midfield players and a goalkeeper on the field, they don't have a commanding defender or a focal point up front. Hopefully Sheff Utd don't go down unless it's at the expense of Wigan as the top league needs teams like them, teams that get stuck into the big boys
