It pays to tune in (I hope you'll continue to keep my ticket price the same.)

I am really interested to see how his career balances out as he fights some guys that he actually met in the ring.

Edit: That may be a bit tough to judge as I think about it. He was a tweener and fought a good many heavies with decent success and seemed to be a bit out of his element with LHW (or even big MW) - might have been a quickness issue. Still will be fun to watch.

Thanks Mike.

He has a tough match coming up ... Bob is still pre-prime and he's taking on Joe Butler this month. I see his first loss coming here.

Next IBF Champion

The race is on for the next division to have an IBF Champion. It takes 50 fighters to be ranked in the main division for and IBF title to be made.

It's a race between the Lightweights and the Featherweights on who is next. The LW's currently have 40 fighters ranked and 24 unranked Pre's in the main division. The FW's have 35 fighters ranked and 23 unranked Pre's in the main division.

I think I will have an 8 fighter box-off for the new title once a division qualifies. It'll have to be spread out over a few months but I think it'll be interesting.

Also the HW's have 70 fighters ranked. I'm thinking once it gets to 80 I'll institute the WBO championship. I'm going to make a poll on that one when the time comes but right now I'm thinking it'll only be for fighters with under 25 fights to make it a lesser title but I'm not sure yet.

November 1909 Title fights

Not much to speak of here this month, only two fights

MW - (WBC) Charles McCoy (24-8-3) vs. Joe Thomas (C11) (13-3-3) first meeting

FW - (WBA) Jem Driscoll (32-5-1) vs Young Corbett (10) (19-14-4) (Driscoll has beaten Corbett 3 times most recently by way of UD15 in December of 1907)

Mike have you ever fought Joe Choynski as a Heavy in your universe. If so could you tell me what you adjusted him by.
Cheers

The database has him as a 5 for HW but I didn't use that. When I move fighters up in weight class I use Gunsmoke's weight class movement chart which can be found at cornerwork. The only thing I do different is I give each of the possible areas that could be adjusted a 50/50 chance of being adjusted.

So when Choynski moved up instead of cfb/s -1, kd -1, and hp -1. I rolled for each one and only his cfb and hp went down 1. It dropped his rating from 10 to 9. In my uni he spent 1 year at HW going 4-0 and then was one of the random retirees. He has a shot at coming back the next two years and I'm not sure where he will go. But also with the new aging system comebacks are always going to be at post-prime so I doubt he'll do very well.

McCoy does just enough

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization.

November 7, 1909

Charles McCoy (ch) (25-8-3) barely showed up tonight but it was just enough to get by with a TKO14 over game Joe Thomas (11/15) (13-4-3). It was McCoy's first defense of his WBC Middleweight title. It was also his 4th win in a row and his 10th out of his last 11.

McCoy came in "overtrained" and looked lethargic throughout the fight. He wasn't throwing many punches and when he did they were slow. He came out of the gate okay but once Thomas was still standing after 2, McCoy kinda coasted.

McCoy got dropped in the 5th and that didn't even wake him up. McCoy finally put together a good round in the 12th which caused Thomas's right eye to swell, but then let Thomas win the 13th.

With the score 124-124 on my card going into the 14th, McCoy finally decided he had enough and dropped Thomas. Then he finished him off on the ropes.

The official judges had it 124-124/124-124/123-124 at the time of the stoppage

On the undercard

MW - Dan Creedon (17/17) (23-12-1) SD10 Joe Walcott (9/17) (20-13-3) (walcott stepped up to MW for this loss)
LW - Ad Wolgast (26/31) (12-8) UD10 Kid Black (UR) (6-7-1) (Black at pre)
FW - Frank Robson (UR) (9-1-4) UD10 Harry Decker (UR/17) (10-4-1) (both at pre)
HW - Ed Martin (46/36) (19-15) TKO9 Herbert Slade (22/34) (16-17-2) (both fighters down, both cut .. good fight)
LH - Charley Stevenson (club) (9-10) UD10 Harry Baker (club) (7-12-2) (both still at prime for this club fight)

McAllister shows promise but Butler is too much

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization.

November 17, 1909

Bob McAllister (UR) (10-1) came out strong but evitentually lost a UD10 to Joe Butler (2/2) (30-7-2) as Butler was too much for him down the stretch.

McAllister jumped all over Butler in the first, knocking down the veteran and then hitting him with everything in his arsenal. Unfortunately, Butler survived the round and McAllister seemed to have worn himself out. His stamina was gone by the 5th.

Butler took advantage of his experience after the first and controlled the rest of the fight. McAllister went down in the 3rd and the 10th but managed to make it to the final bell.

I had it 97-90. Jen Oehlerking, ringside expert, had it 96-91. The official judges scored it 97-90/98-89/96-91.

On the undercard

LW - George Lavigne (3/4) (27-12-1) TKO10 Jack Daly (36/34) (10-7-1)
BW - Al Delmont (2/2) (18-8-2) UD10 Elias Hamilton (UR) (8-5) (hamilton at pre)
LW - Jack Everhardt (10/9) (13-4-2) UD10 Young Donahue (21/31) (9-5-2) (both fighters at pre)
HW - Nick Burley (37/37) (16-9) KO1 Mervine Thompson (47/59) (14-17-2) (thompson at post)
FW - Kid Herman Landfield (club) (9-12-2) MD10 Kid Beebe (club) (2-13-1) (landfield at post, Beebe stepped up in weight for this club fight, fight was weight adjusted)

Yeah it was a bad match up and I almost changed a bout for the first time but I got excited when he came out strong in the first, but it was too much too soon.
