The "before" facegen wasn't bad and if I'd looked at ahead of time I probably would have tweaked it, but as it was, I had already made a new one which I kept.

THANKS, luckymann. I'm honored

Branch Rickey

Branch Rickey was a baseball player, manager, and executive who was the driving force behind two of the most important changes in baseball in the 20th Century: the development of the farm system and the end of baseball's color line. Few would have predicted a HOF career watching Rickey as a player. After a college career at Ohio Wesleyan University, he was a major league catcher and outfielder whose most notable accomplishment was allowing a record 13 stolen bases in one game. He did, however, hit quite well in 65 games with the 1906 Browns. - bRef Bullpen wiki

I didn't have a facegen for him and in my mind's eye, he's Harrison Ford in 42. There are some younger pictures of him in his playing days but no straight-on shots. Here's the picture I settled on for the basis of him.

Harry Hinchman

Harry Hinchman played in 15 games for the Cleveland Naps during the 1907 season. In contrast to his one season in the major leagues, he played for 18 seasons in the minor leagues. He began his professional career with the Ilion Typewriters of the New York State League in 1902. His best year as a player in 1915 with the Kansas City Blues of the American Association. - Wikipedia

Redid the facegen. His playing weight is lighter than the best picture he has and how heavy the facegen software imports him as... but the in-game image works. His baseball card shows him thinner than the bRef picture anyways.

Love the team name "Typewriters" for Ilion...

Charlie Graham

Charlie Graham played and coached for Santa Clara College before entering Major League Baseball during the 1906 season with the Boston Americans. In one season career, he was a .233 hitter (21-for-90) with one home run and 12 RBI in 30 games, including 10 runs, one double, and one stolen base. Following his majors career, he played and coached in the minor leagues.

In 1918, Graham became manager and part owner of the PCL San Francisco Seals. He managed until 1921 and eventually took control of front office. Under his management the Seals moved to their own park, Seals Stadium, in 1931. The Seals won pennants in 1922, 1923, 1925, 1928, 1931, 1935 and 1946, to become one of the most successful teams in PCL history. "Through his long association with the game, Graham had attained a position on the [West] Coast comparable to that enjoyed by Connie Mack in the East." - San Francisco writer Jim McGhee, discussing Charlie Graham's impact on the game in connection with the San Francisco Seals. - Wikipedia and the bRef Bullpen wiki

Two additional excerpts from an extended article on his life from Santa Clara magazine that I enjoyed:

1. "Fran recalls overhearing one conversation his grandfather had in detail. A former ballplayer wanted to hear some stories from Boston and the big leagues.

“I just had a cup of coffee,” Charlie Graham said.

The friend pressed for more information. What happened up there? What was it like?

“Just a cup of coffee,” Charlie Graham said, his tone implying there was nothing else to say about the subject."

2. "Years later, [Charlie's great-granddaughter] Michelle would see the all-time Yankees great (and native of Martinez, California) Joe DiMaggio, who played his first organized baseball with the Seals, at a restaurant in Moraga, CA where she worked.

When she finally coaxed up the nerve to introduce herself to DiMaggio as Charlie Graham’s great-granddaughter, the sullen and famously introverted DiMaggio looked up at her.

“He was a good baseball man,” DiMaggio said."

Eddie Bane

Eddie Bane played for Team USA when they won Silver in the 1971 Pan American Games. He was a star pitcher for Arizona State in the early 1970s, including the 1972 team that lost a heartbreaking final round game to USC, 1-0, in the 1972 College World Series. Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 1st round of the 1973 amateur draft, Bane made his pro debut at the big league level. He eventually developed arm trouble and pitched only 44 major league games with a 7-13 record. He hung around in AAA through 1980. - bRef Bullpen wiki

Claude Elliott

Claude Elliott, famed as perhaps the first pitcher intended as a relief pitcher, was also famous as a teammate of Moonlight Graham with the New York Giants in 1905. Claude was the third and final out in the 9th inning when Graham was on deck in the only game that Graham played in the majors. This story of Moonlight Graham was immortalized in the book, Shoeless Joe, which became the basis for the movie, Field of Dreams. - bRef Bullpen wiki and very appropriate as I watch the White Sox and Yankees play in the Iowa corn this evening...

Tom C Fisher

Tom Fisher was a longtime ace of the Southern Association, pitching in Shreveport and Atlanta for many years and managing teams, too. Nicknamed “Red” for his auburn hair, Fisher got a full season in the rotation with the Boston Beaneaters in 1904. He wasn’t awful – though he went 6 – 16 for a bottom feeder. Fisher even hit a pair of homers (including one that rolled through an open gate). However, he was back in the Southern Association before you knew it – winning between 13 and 24 games a year until 1911 and playing first base or right field when needed. According to an article in the Anderson Daily Bulletin, Fisher said he lost all his baseball mementos in an attic fire in 1923. And, other than making the majors, his biggest thrill was tossing a perfect game for Shreveport on 1 September 1906 against Montgomery. “I struck out 14 men,” Fisher added.

Redid the facegen.

Bill C Schwartz

Bill Schwartz came to the majors in 1904, batting .151 over 24 games for the Cleveland Naps. He was also the coach at Vanderbilt University in 1917, 1924-1940 and 1952.

Same facegen but tried to tweak it to the proportions of the bRef photo. The older photos of him as a Vandy coach were too small to help.

This is Bill "Blab" Schwartz. Not to be confused with Bill "Poop Scooper Bill" Schwartz from the 1880s.

They just don't give 'em nicknames like that any more.

Claude Rossman

Claude Rossman played in the majors for five years and exceled for the 1907-09 Detroit Tigers. Batting behind Ty Cobb in the Detroit lineup, Rossman had a useful talent for laying down bunts. Rossman was so proficient at bunting that Cobb was regularly able to streak from first to third base on Rossman's bunts. Rossman had a peculiar quirk where he sometimes froze and could not throw the ball when he became excited. Runners would lead off first to draw a throw from the pitcher, then run to second when Rossman froze. He otherwise had excellent range as a first baseman but that propensity to freeze with the ball in his throwing hand is said to have greatly shortened his career. He was 28 when he played his last major league game. - Wikipedia

Rossman died at age 46 while residing as a patient at the Hudson River State Hospital for the Insane where he had been a patient for several years.

Same facegen just colorized and tweaked.

Perhaps it’s a bit late for the suggestion, but while I’m working on my facegens, I decided to change the profile pic view in the setting to “zoomed in” all the way. Gives you a much better view of the face and cap

Are all these being collected for a future update pack? I don't think I've seen FancySkunk post anything in ages.

I keep checking FancySkunk's profile too and he hasn't been on since the first week of July. I'm a bit worried about him too but silvam14 is using the latest pack as the basis for his cleanup and I'm happy to find a way to move all these to the new pack in a zip to him when he's ready. I also realize some folks like to judge each one before downloading (or not) while others like the ease of just getting the pack or a zip file.

For my own purposes, I exported every player from bRef's Stathead to Excel so I have a master list of every player. I'm culling it now (to eliminate pitchers that hit and positional player pitchers so there is one row for each player). I started with 9,000 duplicates two weeks ago and am down to 6,500 to go through. I decided I needed it to track the ones I've done and the ones I like from the various packs I've accumulated over the years. Once I've done that, I can post the Excel file for others interested in having a list of the ones they like, the ones they'd like to see improved, and the missing ones.

I've never zoomed that close in the game, silvam14 - I hope they hold up! The angles I have are the ones I play with and sometimes the perfectionist in me appreciates that a blemish I see up close in the facegen software, is too small to appreciate in the game

Let me look into Kent Tekulve. I remember this one...

Kent Tekulve

The one year I didn't live on the Massachusetts' South Shore was the year I lived in the suburbs of Pittsburgh in 1979. So despite wearing a Red Sox hat everywhere, I did enjoy the ride of the "We are Family Pirates" and have an affinity for all of them. And oh, the hours in the backyard throwing the ball against the house trying to imitate him and Quiz with that underhand!

Kent Tekulve needs glasses in his facegen - but it is tough to find a picture without the full shades. The underappreciated issue is he always has his mouth open. Finally I settled on this picture - and despite it's pinkish tinge (that I had to beat back with sliders) and teeth as an upper lip, I think I got something to work with. I don't have a "before" as I did this one a while ago.
