DUTTON JOLTS JACKSON, TIED FOR 1ST DIVISION LEAD
The NIRL First Division feature game went to the Dutton Coyotes, who reigned supreme over the Jackson Jackalopes 6-2... the two teams are now tied for the top spot with 7-3 marks at the midpoint of the season.

New Yerby dropped Union Heights 5-2 to climb up to within a game of first place at 6-4... Stockdale pulled another win out of the hat, edging Kofa 3-1 in a stunner.

Hey, Ho-Lena... Ho Ho Hah-Wichina-Hey!

Sorry, folks, EC has no idea of what that means... I was educated in Alabama and Loo-ziana… as far as I know, they never featured Navaho in the curriculum... and as most of you know, Southern kids were educationally challenged... we also had snaggle teeth... or in some cases, a snaggle tooth... and we went barefooted most of the time... and married our cousins.

Yeah, that's what I like about the South!

Those words are from a really good boogie woogie song by a wonderful country pianist, Moon Mullican… listen to his style of piano playing... being a DJ for 32 years, I strongly suspect that "The Killer", Jerry Lee Lewis, learned his style of piano playing from listening to Moon Mullican on the radio and the jukeboxes.

Hank Snow, the Singing Ranger, still has the number one country song with the "Rhumba Boogie", so I decided to play another big hit of the day.
So all you little darlin's and all you buckaroos need to get your boogie shoes on and get your jitter to buggin' and your boogie woogying.

The jolly Green Giants of Joliet just keep going on their very merry way, just winning game after game in the North Island Recreational League Second Division... their streak has now risen up to nine in a row... Joliet outscored the third place Theodore Bobcats 10-7... second place Avalon notched an 8-2 victory over last place Wafford, who lost for the seventh straight time... and fifth place Kinston bested fourth place West Chester 6-1.

AVALON, JOLIET IN NIRL HIGHLIGHT GAME
The North Island Recreational League Second Division has the highlight game of the week... first place Joliet (9-1) will welcome second place Avalon (7-3) at Joliet Stadium tomorrow afternoon... the Oldtimers and the Green Giants have split two games this year... fifth place Kinston (3-7) will tangle with third place Theodore (5-5) at Bobcat Field... and last place Wafford (2-8) meets fourth place West Chester (4-6) at Township Park.

The NIRL First Division has a good one on tap, too... the fourth place Kofa Kings (4-6) will entertain the Jackson Jackalopes (7-3), who are tied for first with Dutton... the Coyotes (7-3) will be on the road at Hilltop Stadium in Union Heights against the last place Hackers (2-8)... and third place New Yerby (6-4) takes on redhot Stockdale (4-6) at Stockdale City Park... the Mustangs have won four consecutive games.

JACKS,COYOTES WIN, STILL TIED IN NIRL FIRST DIVISION
In North Island Recreation League action Sunday afternoon two of the favorites racked up wins and one failed to prevail... co-leader Jackson (8-3) toppled the fifth place Kofa Kings (4-7) in extra innings... co-leader Dutton (8-3) skimmed by sixth place Union Heights (2-9)... however, fifth place Stockdale (5-6) continued to roll with an upset of third place New Yerby (6-5).

The Jackson Jackalopes slipped by Kofa 3-1 in 11 innings... the Dutton Coyotes snatched one from the last place Hackers 2-1... and the Stockdale Mustangs posted their fifth victory in a row, slamming the New Yerby Yankees 7-4.

MY LIFE IN 1951

EC's just having fun in 1951... it the very merry month of May... hot dog, school will soon out and we can begin to enjoy life again.

As you know, I love listening to music... I've been listening to the radio since 1947... listened to mainly programs in the afternoon... also listened to music, too.

Les Paul and Mary Ford are still in the number one spot on the Billboard pop charts with "How High the Moon"... so I picked another song that was a big hit at the time for Nat King Cole... a wonderful ballad called "Unforgettable".

In my humble opinion, the greatest songs were written in the 30s and 40s... the 50s, 60s and 70s were pretty good, too... modern day artists are really weak when it comes to singing talent and songwriting.

AVALON KOs FIRST PLACE JOLIET IN NIRL SECOND DIVISION
In a clash of league elites in the North Island Recreational League, second place Avalon (8-3) got the best of the top team, Joliet 6-3, stopped the Green Giants' (9-2) winning string at nine games and cut their lead to just one game... third place Theodore (6-5) won as expected, but had a tough time edging last place Kinston (3-8)... while last place Wafford (3-8) embarrassed fourth place West Chester (4-7) in a rout.

The Avalon Oldtimers rallied late and whipped Joliet 6-3... the Theodore Bobcats scratched out an 8-7 decision over the Kinston Firebirds... and the Wafford Eagles walloped the West Chester Comets 16-0.
