His grace and athleticism is just remarkable. I know..he's isn't Mickey Mantle, and will never have his statistical results...but I bet he's a better athlete. |

Look at the Phillies lineup as I think they have a good mix of players that have power and can hit for average. They are not going to upset any teams in the playoffs as they are constructed now. It will be interesting to see what the off-season is like. |

Yankees must ask that Boone and staff RESIGN .
The lineup changes .... the starting pitcher use ..... the use of relievers ( check the arm injuries over the last month ) The Yankees in the Playoffs , were not the Yankees prior to the All Star Game . The Yankees need an organizational shakeup . Cashman should not be safe . The Yankees are built to win today and tomorrow . It is likely Judge will move on to San Francisco -- Giancarlo Stanton's contract will keep him in New York for next 5 years ( so he needs to be in shape to play in the field next year -- Josh Donaldson will likely be back next year at age 38 so will play 3rd base part time . He will require rest but likely be the man at 3rd. -- Pitching ?? Who will be healthy going into Spring Training ? Luis Severino has a club option for next year and then maybe a free agent . -- The young infielders are ready ...... IKF is a soild everyday player ........ Torres needs to return ....... Benintendi should be resigned , but he is UFA ....... The Yankees have decisions to make ...... but I feel they should start at the top. The style of play will change but it will still be great baseball. /

Agree Benintendi should be resigned. I agree they may not resign Judge and just might have to figure something out. I think Cashman needs to go for sure. Too many holes for a team that need to be upgraded. Our minors need to be able to replenish positions of weakness. |

Steinbrenner and Cashman are saying all the right things about keeping Judge in New York but cash is king.

Well, seeing the Bronx Bankrolls hoist on that particular petard would be nicely ironic, IMO.
(Not that Uncle Stevie's been shy with the holiday gelt, it's true. But I can't help chuckling at the idea of Brian Cash-Man needing to find some spare change in the sofa. Sorry…ish.) |

Since Cashman's contract expired at the end of October, is he legally (according to MLB) allowed to negotiate contracts with players that are part of the MLBPA?

I wonder if the Mariners are seriously in the Aaron Judge sweepstakes. We have money to spend but I'm not sure if spending $35-$40M on one injury plagued player is wise. It might be better to run up the price so other teams have to spend more.

Better than Mickey?!
You think Bader is a better athlete than Mickey Mantle? Before he wrecked his knee on a storm drain in the OF, Mantle might have been the best pure athlete in the game. True, he did not take care of himself, and thus did not age well. But Mantle in his prime was as good as Mays, which is as good as anyone. Bader’s a decent player.

Naysayers! The Yankees have extended general manager Brian Cashman's contract for four more years!
![]() Good thing he got this vote of confidence before Judge decamps for the West Coast.

I have to admit, this is one time that I followed a free agency with much interest and trepidation. I am glad the big guy will be with us for another nine years.

Well, the Yankees are in a better position to contend than the Giants at the moment, with the Dodgers and Padres already good in the NL West.
I wish the Mariners would have had a fighting chance for him, but I'll be contend with the Yankees overpaying for him. 2-3 years from now, I think the M's will be in the better situation for it. |

New San Francisco rumors: Scott Boras is looking to package Carlos Correa and Brandon Nimmo to Candlestick.
Hopefully as false as the Judge reports. Probably not, though. Congrats on keeping your guy, Highlanders! |

I am glad the Yankees resigned Judge (as long as they add to the team), but I definitely think they need to do more in the offseason.
We need another outfielder and could definitely use another top starter. I would like Rodon, but so do a few teams. Time will tell.... tick, tick, tick. |

Yankees got it done. They absolutely had to do it with signing Judge. No way they could let him walk. Now my brother is happy. He's the Yankee fan and I'm the Philly fan. We go back and forth a lot all in good fun.

Save this post for when he's an over the hill 38 or 39 and making $40 million. Miggy Cabrera part II.

Once Aaron Judge is 38, will $40M be a living wage for a ballplayer?

Yes, I hear you but see my posts elsewhere about the school of thought that clubs get the benefits up front (hopefully several outstanding years) while paying for much of the contract in arrears. In other words, while it may look like it based on the steady annual salary, the Yankees will not expect much productivity by the end of Judge's contract. If he contributes to a championship or two or three before then, it will be money well spent.
