Twins Zunino Hits 300th Homer
stadiumreport.bbn
August 8th, 2025

300 home runs is a lot of home runs to hit. It's a number that very few players reach. Today Mike Zunino became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Target Field against the Indians. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful Minnesota catcher got all the headlines, but Cleveland came away with the victory. They beat the Twins 8-7.

During the postgame interview, he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game."

His batting totals for the game showed 2 hits in 4 at-bats, 1 home run and 2 RBI.

The hardworking and dedicated Zunino also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot of baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow."

Zunino has a lifetime .233/.281/.435 slashline with 1380 hits, 245 doubles, 25 triples, 300 home runs and 871 RBIs to date.

Seattle Goes Hitless Against Castillo
stadiumreport.bbn
August 10th, 2025

Is it better to be lucky or good?

After leading the Texas Rangers to victory, 8-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Seattle Mariners, Oswaldo Castillo didn't have the answer.

"I don't know," Castillo said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both."

On his big day at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Castillo fanned 4 and had no walks. And it seemed that when the Mariners managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender.

"That's how you get a no-hitter," Castillo said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." It has been 31 years since the last Rangers no-hitter, thrown by Kenny Rogers in 1994.

This season Castillo has picked up no saves and posted a 9-2 record with a 3.61 ERA. He has no relief appearances, tossed 99.2 innings and struck out 60. The 28-year old was signed to a minor league contract in February and this is his first MLB season!

Doug Mitchell got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs while striking out 5 and walking 1. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Brewers.

The two teams provided some entertaining baseball for the Miller Park crowd. Regardless of the outcome, a good time was had by all.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Reyes said after the game. Milwaukee hit a total of six home runs in the win.

With Monday off, the Brewers will prepare for two much anticipated games with the 81-30 Rangers and third baseman Jarid Joseph(.362-31-107 1.090OPS).

Number 300 for Machado
stadiumreport.bbn
August 14th, 2025

300 home runs is a lot of home runs to hit. It's a number that very few players reach. Today Manny Machado became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Kauffman Stadium against the Royals. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful Minnesota third baseman got all the headlines, but Kansas City came away with the victory. They beat the Twins 4-1.

During the postgame interview, he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game."

His batting totals for the game showed 1 hit in 3 at-bats, 1 home run and 1 run batted in.

The hardworking and dedicated Machado also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot of baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow."

In 1940 games Machado has a career .297/.342/.482 slashline. He has hit 300 home runs with 1134 RBIs and 1012 runs scored with 2318 hits.

The 33-year old has played for Baltimore, Cleveland and Minnesota during his 69.7WAR career and is a 2x MvP, 2x Gold Glover, 4x Silver Slugger and a 7x All-Star.

We face off with a lot of former players in this series... with Texas(81-30) and I'm glad that they are not in our league... 2B Luke Maddox(28, 3.5*, .316-15-54 .928OPS) is back in form... And then, there is Jose Berrios(31, 3*, 11-2 4.84 119K) and closer Ranfi Gomez(29, 4.5*, 2-6 37SV 59K 51.1IP)... they got a good core from us in trades...

Urena, Rangers Dominate Brewers

The Texas Rangers topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-2, with third baseman Jarid Joseph playing a big role. Joseph went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Rangers in the win and is now batting .367-32-109 1.107OPS in 109 games. The first-place Rangers have won 5 straight games.

Chris Shaw
drew 2 walks for Texas. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Dave Hall. It was his 9th walk of the season.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Shaw, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win." For the home team, they will be without their closer for a couple of weeks. "Anthony was supposed to get some work in, but unfortunately suffered from forearm tendinitis and will be out for the minimum DL time," said manager Mike Matheny.

Gomez Blows it on Wild Pitch!

Milwaukee third baseman Wilkerman Garcia was instrumental in his team's 5-4 win over the Texas Rangers. Garcia, who is tied for 8th in the NL with a .321 batting average, went 3-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Brewers. Milwaukee reliever Ronny Carvajal was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Ranfi Gomez took the loss for Texas. Milwaukee is now 84-30, 34 games up in the National League Central Division.

Late-game drama came in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Artie Bradley, hit a single. It helped Milwaukee put the winning run on third base, and that one scored on a wild play... or, to be exact, a walk-off wild pitch by Rangers closer Ranfi Gomez. He was not available for comment.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Milwaukee manager Mike Matheny. After an offday tomorrow, Milwaukee has three more home games with the 57-57 Rockies and reigning AL Gold Glove third baseman César Gutiérrez(.321-5-43 16/26SB).

Brewers Hammer Colorado in Wild 15-7 Win

Milwaukee third baseman Wilkerman Garcia had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 15-7 win over the Colorado Rockies. He went 3-5 2R 3RBI with a double and a home run.

Chuck Hatfield got the win, improving to 15-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Milwaukee is now 85-30, 33½ games up in the National League Central Division.

In the top of the seventh, Kyle Tucker stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Rockies were trailing 14-3, but had the bases loaded. That's when Jesús Marín made a terrific pitch and Tucker grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Colorado comeback.

Speaking of comebacks, Mickey Moniak came off the DL today and did so with authority. He went 2-5 with two solo home runs and improved to bat .307-19-47 .851OPS in 99 games.

Brewers Suffer Big Injury in 6-3 Win at Cincy

Milwaukee Brewers starter Frank Lopez was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3. Lopez picked up the win for Milwaukee, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 12-5. Ronny Carvajal notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.

One important at-bat for Milwaukee came with one out in the top of the second inning. With the bases loaded, Lopez reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run, which contributed to the Brewers win.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lopez told the Milwaukee Herald.

However, the biggest story of the day was a diving play by Brewers shortstop Wilkerman Garcia. The 27-year old tried to reach third base before the runner, dove for it... and injured himself. Doctors say it is a severely ruptured tendon in his left index finger, means he is out for the season.

Garcia was batting .330-11-49 24/30SB in 91 games prior to the injury. The first-place Brewers, at 87-32, now lead their division by 32 games.

Teófilo Vega left his imprint on the 4-3 Cincinnati win against the Milwaukee Brewers. Vega, who is tied for 7th in the NL in triples with 5, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Jefferson Vergara earned his 6th save in 6 chances. Today's win puts Cincinnati at 45-75, while Milwaukee falls to 87-33.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Vega. The former Brewers prospect is batting .248-15-49 .713OPS in 114 games for the season.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when pinch-hitter Maikel Franco got hit by a pitch. The Reds went on to win.

Milwaukee got another injury scare when Chuck Hatfield left the game after two innings. "All fine. Just strained my back during the last AB. I'll be fine for my next start," the lefty gave to protocol after the game.

The team will continue their road trip with a four-game set at St. Louis(55-65) and center fielder Phil Davis(.328-26-83) starting tomorrow.

2025 Week 20 Part 2

Week 20: 3@ Cincinnati Reds(43-74), 4@ St. Louis Cardinals(54-64)

August 21st

And some change, the Cardinals decided to put Castro in the pen and will start Graham Lawson(R, 6-8 5.18), their once promising righty that HAD a 12-10 season with an ERA of 3.93 last year...

In other news, Julio threw 6 innings of 7-hit and 1 unearned run ball in AAA, striking out 11 batters... looks like that injury-induced break did him some good.

Cardinals Stymie Milwaukee, Take 5-1 Win

Getting an impressive start from Graham Lawson, St. Louis beat Milwaukee by the score of 5-1. The win boosts the Cardinals to 56-65. The loss puts the Brewers at 87-34.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fourth inning, but Lawson was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Milwaukee trailing 3-1, Lawson retired Raúl Martínez, who struck out.

For the game, the right-hander worked 6 innings of 7-hit, 1-run, 1BB and 5 strikeout ball and moved to 7-8 with the win.

To add even more trouble, the Brewers lost outfielder Aaron Brown today. The 33-year old reportedly strained a rib cage muscle and will be influenced by that for a while. Insider's say a DL move is imminent.

Stankiewicz Dazzles in St. Louis Win

St. Louis right-hander Teddy Stankiewicz pitched his team to victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium. The final score was 5-0. Dave Negrón was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 13 save opportunities. St. Louis occupies second place in the National League Central Division at 57-65.

Stankiewicz, who dominated for St. Louis, earned the victory to move to 5-6. He was in control the whole game, scattering 3 hits over 8.1 innings while striking out 6. Milwaukee batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Stankiewicz.

Cardinals Walk Off with Win

The Milwaukee Brewers got a superb performance from third baseman Artie Bradley, but the St. Louis Cardinals still won the game, 6-5. Bradley was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. St. Louis reliever Dellin Betances picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ronny Carvajal shouldered the loss. St. Louis has 3 straight wins.

Grant Horwitz was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home. It was his second home run of the series.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Horwitz. Ronny Carvajal was credited with the loss.

Milwaukee starter Frank Lopez put a stranglehold on the St. Louis offense. The left-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Brewers to a 1-0 win. The first-place Brewers, at 88-36, now lead their division by 30 games.

Lopez allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 7 innings for the Brewers. He walked 1 and struck out 7.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," St. Louis manager Jay Bell said following the tough loss. The winning run crossed the plate on a mammoth solo home run off the bat of Brian Reyes in the fourth. The first baseman is hitting .277-42-112 .909OPS in 122 games so far this season.

Blackburn will decide if this trade was worth it.

Padres Lose, 5-2, at Miller Park

The Milwaukee Brewers knocked off the San Diego Padres, 5-2, at Miller Park. Luis Iglésias was named player of the game for Milwaukee. He hit 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. The Brewers, at 89-36, have a comfortable 30-game lead in their division.

Had Mickey Moniak not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Moniak hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Brewers. The left fielder is batting .298-19-48 .814OPS in 109 games.

Moniak called the win "a collective effort." The win went to reliever Julián Aquilera. The righty pitched 1.1 hitless innings and moved to 9-4.

Urias, Brewers Get 1-0 Win

Milwaukee starter Julio Urias pitched effectively against the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park. The left-hander led his team to a 1-0 win. Anthony Molina was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 40 of 45 save opportunities. The Brewers, at 92-39, have a comfortable 29½-game lead in their division.

Urias, now 12-5, scattered 6 hits over 8 innings for the Brewers.

"I had a good game plan," said Urias. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Mike Matheny said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches. Nice way to return from injury."

The Brewers start the month of September with a magic number of three, and with a three-game road trip with the 51-79 Pirates and Norm Franklin(.302-37-81 1.041OPS).

A 14-14 August... what has happened while I took a break in the FIFA dimension for a while... Seriously, we have such a big cushion in the division, and the injuries played a part in that... and the sheer suckage of some of our pitchers... slaps Raúl Martínez and Jorge Segura with a whip... RIGHT GUYS???

Anyways... as for September call-ups... Martínez will get his last breaths of Milwaukee air in the big leagues, and will be joined by Cliff 'I don't work in the majors' Walker and 25-year old righty Jeff Logan who had a 1.86ERA in AAA this season with 10 saves and is Segura's replacement for me... despite a little wonky injury history.

Hitting, we let Ernesto Hernández report up here... and given that Brownie will be back in 5 days, we just keep the two warm bodies in the outfield around...

Now, the state of affairs. We will most likely face an NL East opponent, historically a hard-fought division... behind the Phillies who once again crush things... Side note: The Rangers actually have a higher winning percentage than us... those lofty times of 119 wins are over... and we are +8 over our expected record of 84-47.

Key players taking a step back, Urias, Brownie etc... Hall still not that great, bullpen woes here and there, Garcia injured... well, this core will age, and I will have to pick up the pieces one day...

So, one lineup change. Franis as our everyday catcher. He hit the cover off the ball when we used him in August, and he is the 'future'... in that he is cheap for the next 3-4 seasons and Jake is not...

Anyways, Wilkerman's injury leaves a... Wilkerman big hole in our lineup as Bradley is a glove first player... we could've called up Aluizio Ouvegues, who is rated 2.5/5* by our scouting department and could've played there... learning 3B in the majors and as a 22-year old that is not even on the 40-man... decisions like that make us not win the World Series this year... and Jamison is of course still injured...

Vásquez Clobbers 3 HR Against Athletics
stadiumreport.bbn
September 2nd, 2025

The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Oakland Athletics today.

Toronto first baseman José Vásquez tripled up on the home runs to propel the Blue Jays to the 9-3 win at Rogers Centre.

"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Oakland manager Ben Hendrickson said. "Vásquez hit the heck out of the ball."

In addition to the homers, Vásquez collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."

José Vásquez singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Patrick Raby in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Patrick Raby in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Mike Parkerson in the 7th.

This year Vásquez is batting .226/.289/.487 with 53 hits and 17 home runs. He has scored 39 times and has batted in 48 runs.

We are rotating a lot right now due to tiredness... and it is somehow working... never would've thought that Joe Clark EVER would get two hits in two games... given that he uses his glove to bat aswell...

News:
Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez(32, 3*) threw eight strong in a 2-0 win in Chicaco, yielding 3 hits, no walks, and striking out nine. Unbelievably enough, the veteran will be a free agent this winter for the first time, and he is 4-9 4.73 128K in 29 starts so far...

Dodgers Continue Skid Thanks to Reyes, Brewers

Milwaukee beat Los Angeles at Miller Park, eking out a 7-6 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Brian Reyes, who earned player of the game honors. Reyes contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Milwaukee in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Reyes took a fastball from Trysten Barlow and stroked the home run to center. His 53rd home run of the season allowed the Brewers to leap in front, 2-1.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Reyes told reporters after the game. He has now hit 10 home runs in his last 13 games.

The first-place Brewers have won 4 straight games and will be hosting the 55-87 Reds and their former prospect Teófilo Vega(.254-17-59 .725OPS) next.

Sorry, just saw that one today.

They actually did, a resilient bunch they have become. Julio Urias found his form and dominated in the playoffs, and they swept away the Cardinals in the NLDS, then fought their way past the mighty Phillies in the NLCS 4-1 with a couple of comeback wins, and then had to face the Oakland Athletics.

The same A's that broke the hearts of millions of Brewers fans years ago when they walked off the World Series with a 2-run home run at o.co... and they also got beaten, 4-1.

World Series MvP: Bob Ramsey.

Also, Chucky won the NL Rookie of the Year, and NL Cy Young with 18-2 2.84 211K in 30 starts.

To be fair, I just played out the final month and the playoffs this week, guess I was kinda burned out from the way I did this dynasty for months and months, which is why I haven't played anything other than Perfect Team in closed and open beta lately.

AAAnd which is why my new dynasty will have monthly updates, something that suits my playstyle a bit more...
