Alaska and Vegas will again be sitting at home for the playoffs 1st round. This is now where I start to seriously believe we're going to snag a post season berth. A year ahead of when I expected. I don't for a second think I have the pitching to get deep, but the experience, and the revenue should both be huge to plans moving forward.

It's also looking like, for the 1st time since 2012, Chicago will miss the post season.

INJURY NEWS-2 huge pieces of injury news today. In Staten Island ace Mike Lewis herniated a disc, the 36 year old (15-11 3.42) will miss the remainder of the year, and the post season. In even bigger news Alaska Avalanche superstar Carlos Rios ruptured a disc, the 21 game winner and likely rookie of the year and possible Koufax winner will be out at least 6 months. Rios was 21-3 2.56 in 29 starts.

STANDINGS LEADERS SEPTEMBER 15th
Alaska and Vegas clinch but the Avalanche clinch is done in a pretty somber atmosphere as they lose their 1A to Hall in the process. Vegas will clearly be the 1 in the CL, again. Great race in the midwest and for the first time in 20 years Chicago is not in the mix.
New Hampshire has clung to the lead despite Cabrera being out the past week.
The Lone Star and Pacific, as well as the Empire all look to be good races as well as the race for the final spot in the CL Wild Card and maybe all 3 spots in the FL depending on how the week goes.

No records likely to fall with the exception of O'Halloran's save mark. Tom Jackson at 44 saves has an outside shot.

FALLEN DOWN-On June 1st Quincy Hutchison was hitting .370-28-62 through just 54 games. Since then he's hitting .235-11-37 in 92 games. An enormous drop and while he will still likely end up with a very good statistical season, it will be nowhere near what I was thinking he'd do. He was the runaway MVP then, and likely not even a top 5 candidate now.

Final 3 days

RACES
So into the seasons final 3 games and here's how it looks.
In the FL:
1) Alaska has that locked up
2) Green Bay and Columbus are playing for the division title and the 2 and/or 3 seed. That's because they are tied with Staten Island at 86 wins. Green Bay plays Chicago, Columbus plays Dayton. Staten Island is 2 up but goes to NY for the seasons final 3 games. 1 win and the Yanks sew it up, New York must sweep. A New York sweep nets them the Empire and makes the Yanks the Wild Card.
3) New Hampshire is 3 up on Providence, and they're playing West Michigan, Providence has the Wolverines.
The 2 through 7 seed are up in the air, with 6 teams at 84-86 wins. The Black Sox are the likely 7 seed.
There is an insane finish that wreaks havoc, but that would mean Providence was swept, Dayton sweeps and New Hampshire gets swept, I think....

The HR title, RBI crown, SB title, Wins, and K races are all close. RJ is done, Romano has 1 start left, and I think Martinez is done unless there's some last day nightmare for the Yanks.

In the Coastal:
1) Las Vegas has this locked up.
2) Boston is the 2 seed.
3) El Paso and the Hooks are tied, the winner (El Paso plays Houston, the Hooks get Tulsa) is the 3 seed, the loser is battling us for the 5.
4) This is where it gets sticky. LA and Sacramento are a game apart, and they are in LA for the seasons final 3. LA winning 2 puts them in a 1 game playoff, Sacramento wins 2 they clinch. The loser of this series goes home, no Wild Card.
5) We are battling for the fifth seed, and it looks like the Colts are the 7.

A great HR race that is actually mind boggling when you consider Hutchison was on a 70 HR pace in June. Romo and Wells for the SB title.
2 Vegas starters and Diablo starter Jesus Gonzales for the Wins crown. A tight race to the K title, Gonzales and Cruz both with a start to go.

Romano beats the Yankees to pull within 1, and he strikes out 8 to take the lead by 1 over RJ. Columbus wins, Green Bay loses, and New Hampshire wins to clinch, giving Providence the Wild Card and them the Northeastern. El Paso wins, the Hooks lose, and Sean Jones comes up huge as LA beats the Express to pull even.

Domingo Casillas (AZ) drives in 3 to tie Tanner for the RBI lead, Mario Casillas steals 1 to pull within 1 while Kade Simons wins his 20th.

Welch (SJ) Homers to tie Hutchison for the HR race and Curran and Gonzales both win their 23rd with Curran tossing 8 scoreless.

Two late season waiver deals I felt were worth mentioning. Both salary dumps that actually returned some very good talent. The Texans get a boat load of very good young talent, 3 very good very young arms with a top prospect in the mix.

Chris Poe and the Yankees clinch the Empire, beating NY 4-2. Columbus wins, Green Bay loses, giving the Clippers the Midwest title.

El Paso loses, the Hooks win and they're tied with one game remaining.

LA bombs the Express 9-4 and have clinched a tie with 1 game remaining.

Domingo Casillas makes it 6 RBI's in 2 days to take the RBI race 125-222.

Quincy Hutchison busts out, his 2 homers giving him a 2 HR lead over Welch with 1 left. Wells nabs his 51st, to grab a 1 SB lead over Romo.

So the seasons final day has these two races to decide.

Seasons final final day

MANAGERIAL NEWS-Brooklyn wasted no time in firing long time manager Jesus Valentin. The 57 year old managed the past 8 seasons for the Cyclone after 12 years managing twice in Baltimore and once in New York. He was the 2019 manager of the year and is 1624-1618 lifetime.

So the seasons final day has these two races to decide.

ROSTER NEWS-Ben Beard tore it up after the Craig injury. He's 32, a good 1B and a switch hitter who handles both sides well. He hit .348/.377/.453 in 69 games, with 6 HR's and 30 RBI's. I've managed to sign him to a 2 year 1.3M dollar deal.

It becomes painfully obvious where I need to spend my money over the next year or two when you look at these finals. Offense is there and with Craig coming back and Peterson maturing, I expect more, pitching? Not so much. Defense is good, and getting better.

WILD CARD GAME 1's

WILD CARD GAME 1's
Cody Miller and three relievers combined on a 6-hitter to take the opening game of the Wild Card round, 3-1. Miller went 6.1 IP giving up 4 hits, 3 walks with 6 K's. He tired in the 7th and was lifted after the Miranda solo homer.

The Yankees and Knights are about as familiar as teams can be, and they spent another 14 innings together in a thrilling game 1.

WILD CARD GAME 2's

WILD CARD GAME 2's
Another huge game from Kijani and Brooks. Sacramento is insanely LH heavy in the middle and Kijani bailed Garcia (6.2 IP 5 H 4 K 2 HR 3 ER) out in the 7th, with Brooks working out of a 9th inning jam to end it. Weijers goes 3-4 HR R 2 SB (2) 2 RBI's as we go up 2-0.

WILD CARD GAME 3's

WILD CARD GAME 3's
Bombers MVP Ronnie Ritchie (.295-27-137) went down in game 1 vs Baltimore and Boston learned today he'll be out for the entire post-season with a bad hamstring injury.

Kirk never had it. A 4 run 2nd inning doomed him and it got no better. He went 4 giving up 6 runs on 8 hits, 2 homers and 3 walks. Lopez (SAC) went 8, giving up 10 hits 4 earned.

Wild Card Game 4's

WILD CARD GAME 4's
Another starter beaten early. Lopez's command issues are the game. 4 Hits 6 Walks in 3.2 innings and 4 earned, lucked out with 2 DP's to keep it close. Hidalgo righted the ship with 3.2 hitless innings but 2 late runs put it away. Arroyo was in command from the 1st.
