We must add the USSR to the list of best countries not winning a WC...but their ugly negative tactics, as put on display here by their ex USSR striker coach, held them back

The thing is if it takes one of their star names out of the semis or final - then it will be changed back to what it was beforehand. You know my feelings on Blatter - the sooner he retires the better IMO.

So far when it comes to the referee Amarillo 'its in your hands'. Its like he is running this match in commissioner mode.

The Dutch "Totaalvoetbal" teams of the 1970s will always be the best teams never to win the World Cup, IMO. It was generally acknowledged by everyone they played that they were simply on another plane. They just didn't put West Germany away in '74, as they should have, but even Beckenbauer admits they had the better team and that Johan Cruyff was a better player than he (though that might be a true wash in reality). In '78 they were game again until the final and one can only imagine what might have been if Cruyff hadn't "retired" from international play before that WC.

Hungary in 1954 with super-scorer Ferenc Puskas were an awesome side.

Spain has always had great talent, never lived up. The Soviets of the 50s-60s had the greatest goalkeeper, perhaps, ever.

The 1982 Brazil "Dream Team" which was, they said, better even than the 1970 side.
