You could add all the countries who provide players to the English leagues but it would take you up to around 95 countries alot though only provide 1 player countries like Kenya, Mexico, Iraq and so on.

Could have told you it was a dead cert Liverpool win, last season who did Crouch score his first goal against ? - Wigan, who did Hyppia score his first goal against ? - Wigan, this season who did Liverpool record their first away goal and first away win against ? - Wigan also De Zeeuw was out Baines and Boyce just comingback from injuries and Bellamy having something to prove after being found not guilty this week.

I know it's easy to say Liverpool are a bogey team with them being a better quality team than Wigan but Latics have never preformed well against Liverpool, they even play better against Chelsea, United and Arsenal than they ever do against Liverpool maybe it's Jewell fixing it for his ex team

I believe FC Gifu beat Fagiano Okayama 2-0, although that's based solely on the pictures on their website as I don't understand Japanese.

I said the corporate team is bound to go up. for V.Varen.
why were PKs required?

Here's how the table looks:
Code:
Final Group	P	W	SW	SL	L	F	A	Pts
TDK Akita	2	1	1	0	0	1	0	5
FC Gifu 2	1	0	0	1	2	1	3
Fagiano Okayama	2	1	0	0	1	3	3	3
V.Varen Nagasaki2	0	0	1	1	1	3	1
So if they beat FC Gifu - which doesn't look too likely on the past two games - and TDK beat Fagiano in regulation time they will finish 2nd and go into the playoff.

holy **** they use the point format I wish the NHL would use.

Probably for the same reason you guys (Americans) don't like having ties.
That's what they have in the regional leagues to break ties (I think a couple of them may allow ties to stand).

IMO, I'd rather the NHL allowed ties. But that's a bygone era now.

So you would favor baseball allowing ties?

No-no, but this isn't a baseball thread. That's only when someone hijacks it with silly Tex talk.

Why not keep playing till someone scores a goal in football..with an additional sub every 30 extra minutes?

Because draws help to separate the teams in the league. If you had just wins and losses you would need loads of tiebreakers.
Also people want to get home from games at a sensible hour. And unlike baseball fans, football fans want to actually see the end of the game (and indeed because of segregation of fans, the away fans wouldn't be allowed to leave early anyway).

Are spectators prisoners in the stadium? Are they forbidden to leave? Can they use the bathroom?

Baseball fans dont want to see the end of a game? They want to see a game end logically with a winner. Too many football matches are borefests as both teams are content with a tie; this is almost robbery as the fans paid to see a competitive match. Because of the way a football season is laid out; tiebreaking mayches would be easy to arrange.

Obviously the last part is yes. As for the others, well those that actually go to games will have a better idea, but I'm sure if the police think there is a chance of crowd problems outside, if you are an away fan you are not allowed out until after the home fans have left the area after the game.

If you have a shootout all you will have is the same tactics, as teams will play for the penalty lottery.
What I meant about baseball is that if you have a long rain delay or a long night game, unless it is an important game, you will end up with a lot less people in the stadium at the end than you did at the start.

dola, here is the MLS ties per season stats, that show that whatever you have you will still end up with ties:

Code:
shootout
1996	34	160
1997	33	160
1998	33	192
1999	57	192

OT period, then ties
2000	47	192
2001	28	158	* RSSSF doesn't have separate data for OT wins, so this will be much higher
2002	36	140
2003	54	150

90 minute ties
2004	46	150
2005	44	192
2006	56	192

In football I was saying the teams should play until a goal is scored. I dont like shootouts much either except in the WC where the risk of injury in summer heat is too great a risk.
