Shocking news out of Alaska!!
This is just heartbreaking news if it leads to the end of his career. This is a young franchise player just starting to make his mark.

2032 winter meetings day 4
2032 WINTER MEETINGS DAY 4
Boston lands former SP Jake Goldsworthy to a monster contract. Apparently he is, was, a phenomenal offensive prospect coming out of college and after a 39-31 3.84 career as a pitcher with the Colts he has elected to become an every day player as a free agent. They then get a 25 year old ace in the making in Jasper Myers from the Yankees for gold glove 3B Carlos Garcia as they hand their 3B job to 25 year old Juan Marquez (.292/.356/.431 in 75 games last year). Staten Island has an unprecedented day in dollars and deals. Moving or gaining 8 players in 2 trades and 2 signings. Grabbing 2028 Koufax winner and 6 time all-star Mike Lewis and 4 time all star Juan Barrios with big free agent contracts and then dealing away one of the premier 25 and under arms in the game in Jasper Myers for gold glove 3B and leadoff hitter Carlos Garcia and an outstanding OF prospect in Alvin “Blade” Nelson, while letting go of OF Bobby Weber and cash to grab a very good 3B prospect in Donnelly.

Winter meetings day 5
WINTER MEETINGS DAY 5
Some promising news out of Alaska, though best estimates have him back in 6 months, at the earliest. Holy cow what has Boston done? Adding Las Vegas SP Nigel Fouracre to an already formidable rotation. The 51's are ready to give 26 year old Joe Burks and Ron Cochran (7-0 1.72) rotation spots heading into camp. Marquez is a prime time middle of the order bat who's just starting to blossom.

2032 off season december news
2032 OFF SEASON DECEMBER NEWS
Some big signings. Colts grab former Silver Star closer Davenport for a steep 12M a year times 3. Michael Griffin, who sat out all of last year, is back and got a huge deal from LA. Leroy Balfour moves into the lineup with Miguel Cabrera to give the Mountaineers a big time 1-2 punch. IBL ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS: SHUTOUTS 28 Stan Hall (ALK) 27 Mike Lewis (SI) 26 Jesus Romano (NY) 25 Angelo Esparza 20 Cordell Bond Enreecko Obispo signed a 5 year 81M dollar deal to remain in San Jose and veteran SS George Tanner inked a 4 year 68M dollar deal to remain in Columbus the next 4 years. The 'big fish on the market, as far as SP were concerned, signed today. And the news out of Alaska is cautiously optimistic.

2032 off season news-january
2032 OFF SEASON NEWS-JANUARY
1/3 LA grabs veteran closer IBL ACTIVE CAREER LEADER: SLUGGING PERCENTAGE .582 Ramon Castro (GB) .577 George Tanner (COL) .572 James Welch (SJ) .570 Tony Greene (PHI) .561 Benton Crowder (HOU) 1/9 Providence lands the “Big Unit” 1/10 Fresno adds a big power bat and a veteran presence in Flores. 1/11 The Express get one of the better young arms out there, for 3 at 28.2. 1/13 Vegas adds power lefty John O'Halloran as a bridge man to Fernandez. O'Halloran has the single season mark in saves for the IBL with 50. IBL ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS: STRIKEOUTS 3866 Jesus Romano (NY) 3275 Mike Lewis (SI) 3093 Esteban Figueroa (DAL) 2906 Stan Hall (ALK) 2762 Angelo Esparza 1/17 The De Los Santos brothers sign within days of each other. Rumors had them both going to Columbus, but Felix has decided to leave for Fresno, instead of possibly catching his brother as a Clipper. 1/19 Former Silver Star closer Roy Mathews hit paydirt in Tulsa. 1/20 SILVER STARS, SHARKS STRIKE A DEAL San Antonio has acquired 25 year old switch hitting outfielder Quincy Hutchison from the Sharks for Utility man Jeff Buck, P prospect Sammy Allison and minor league 3B Bill Stone. This is a huge deal. Hutchison is a switch hitting speedster who can play across the outfield, and handles the bat well enough on both sides to play every day (though his LHH side is a bit stronger). He's an elite prospect no doubt. Turned down big money as the 15th pick in 2029 by LA, then signed with Providence as the 18th pick last year. He will hit at the top of the lineup vs RHP. Our scouts have him as a .300 30/30 bat and a good defender. Great teammate and a future leader. 1/23 I have managed to ink 28 year old free agent T.J. Miller to a 3 year 2.25 million dollar deal. He's a 4th starter on a great staff but as young as we are I need some stability. He's an iron man as far as taking his turn every 5th day and he competes. He'll eat innings and help mentor the young staff. 1/25 The Colts get a middle of the order bat in Soto, for 63.5 million. 1/27 West Michigan continues their active winter. 2/3 Pat Kelley comes full circle. Veteran readers may remember Kelley being drafted 1st overall, spending not one day in the minors and going from the draft, to the signing table, to the IBL for a 7-6 3.16 rookie campaign back in 2017. He's 143-151 4.24 after 13+ years with a 4.24 ERA. He's won a gold glove, made an all star team and won a world series with the Bombers in 2022. 2/10 I poked around on Keen but the ask was a bit high for the health risk in my mind. Andre Blakeway, a former player of mine and the IBL's all time leader in triples finds a great deal in Columbus (much to the chagrin of Iron Pig fans) and will now play through his age 40 season as a Clipper.

2032 off season lead up to spring training
2/16
Dayton solidifies their catching options for the next 2 years. I thought he was going to be a monster player when I drafted him in Chicago. 2/18 Monster deal for Tulsa and Villareal. Him leaving led to the months biggest news, which was the Clippers grabbing perennial all-star Manny Ramirez 7 days later. 2/20 Edmonton manages to keep Reyes in town for another 4 years. 2/25 Bit heavy on the dollars for a guy that has trouble hitting .250, but the Texans did find some pop in Berino. And New Hampshire, rather quiet this winter, snags former gold glove 2B Chris Brooks for 2 years and 6 per. While the headline signing is this one. Manny lands a home for the next 6 years for about 6-7 million less per season than anyone was expecting. Corpus Christi looks to be the winters 'loser' so far, 13.7 WAR lost. Providence gains big while Alaska adds no one and RJ walks which is a big chunk of their WAR loss. NEWS Man, top prospect Jake Scott did NOTHING but decline this winter, reporting to camp not even remotely ready to resume his career. I have concerns he won't be able to break camp with the club. His stuff is flatter, command worse and stamina appears to be a problem, he's lost 2-3 MPH off his fastball and it's only the 1st week.

2032 spring training
3/10
Bad news in Dayton as Bashir Malik will miss 6 weeks, putting him out until late April while in New Orleans the Voodoo manage to re-sign star slugger and reigning MVP Jim Edwards to a 4 year 58+ million dollar deal. 3/15 Dayton fills the void, signing former all star Mountaineer OF Andy Davis to a 3 year 23M dollar deal. 3/31 Mid spring training I worked the free agent market very hard to fill a ton of spots in Wilmington. Part of that was signing 2 older starting pitchers to major league deals. Both are former top 6 draft picks Former Iron Pig draftee Carlos Hernandez and 6th overall pick (2022) Aaron Jones were signed to deals. I mention this because today, in a final push to pare down to the 25 man roster I dealt Hernandez, along with INF Alfredo Sanchez and RP Marcos Sanchez to Michigan for P Yasuoka Terada and the top overall pick in this years draft. Michigan gets our #1 in the exchange.

2032 opening day roster and news
2032 OPENING DAY ROSTER AND NEWS
Had a good camp, no injuries to speak of and overall decent performances on the hill and at the plat. Jake Scott regressing has thrown a wrench into the plans to go with a young rotation except for Cody Miller. Weijers had a bad spring, no matter he's in there every day. Mr. Phillips is again asking for a close to .500 record. In the FL it looks like more of the same. Alaska with another dominant season. RJ moving to Providence is going to disrupt the Northeastern Division, but still no Michigan in the post season.... Another huge year from Cole Martin, and is there another Koufax in store for Stan Hall? An 85 win season would be fantastic if we can pull it off. Bullock predicted to win another HR title. Everyone's buying what Boston did this winter, they, and Vegas (again) are supposed to lap the field with their pitching. Converted pitcher Jeff Goldsworthy predicted to win a batting title! Derek Craig becoming an IBL player pushed us down 2 slots in the rankings. Alaska is just stacked. I'd like to think the process can begin in earnest now. The minor leagues have some semblence of normalcy, and the big league team is stable enough and the budget managed well enough to chart a true path and follow it.

2032 opening day roster
ROTATION
1) Cody Miller RHP (32) The one true veteran on the staff. 13-8 3.28 in 32 starts last year. Looking to him again for some consistency. 2) T.J. Miller RHO (28) Signed in late January along with Carlos Hernandez. 63-69 4.79 lifetime in 162 IBL starts. Takes the ball every 5th day. A career best '31 season at 14-11 4.42 for the Bulldogs. 3) Aaron Jones RHP (28) Signed at the beginning of camp, a former 1st rounder (2022). 52-65 4.65 lifetime in 144 starts. Signed to a 3 year 2.1M dollar deal. 4) Randy Kirk LHP (24) The first of my draft choices to get here. 2nd overall pick in 2028 out of UCLA and a top prospect coming in. Will get his chance to work it all out at this level this year. 5) Ruben Trujillo RHP (27) Acquired from the Yankees last winter for Paul Williams. 4-1 4.06 in 38 relief appearances in Staten Island. Signed in 2021 out of Mexico. Along with Miller and Jones, a guy I need to just give innings and help bide time for the younger arms to mature. BULLPEN Hidalgo (RHP 30) will close again. Going with 6 total relievers as long as possible. Tewodros Kijani LHP (27) 4-1 4 SV 3.06 last year in 94 innings. 83 K's 85 H Milovan Opacic RHP (22) 1-0 1 SV 3.38 in just 5 games after being acuired from El Paso. Spent most of the 2nd half in Wilmington. Possible closer candidate. Allen Hawking RHP (26) Spent most of last year in New Orleans AAA and in Wilmington. Triple digit arm with outstanding split. Miguel Valdez LHP (27) 6-4 1 SV 2.08 in 48 games, 60.2 IP. 72 K's and just 42 hits. Ron Brooks RHP (25) 5-4 14 SV 3.12 in 57 AAA games at Alaska's affiliate in Eagan. Rule 5 pick who must remain on the roster. Huge arm, works ++ fastball with a ++ change up. CATCHING Jose Perez (LH 28) .278-24-65 will again take most of the games vs RHP, with Ralph Irwin (Switch 31) .228/.268/.317 as the backup. I am looking to remedy this quickly, Irwin has wanted out since mid last year. First real chance I get to make it happen, it will. INFIELD Whereas in former situations I built my offense starting from the outfield working in, this is the extreme other end. My core infield looks like this: 1B) Derek Craig RHH (25) .233/.342/.414 27 HR 81 RBI's in 161 games. The average is lacking, but that's of zero concern. Went into last season as the games #2 offensive prospect and from everything we've seen nothings changed. He's ready to make a statement this year, a true 5 star prospect who is now, per our scouts, at 4.5 of those 5 stars. Drafted 13th overall out of UC-Riverside in 2027 2B) Sancho Ramirez RHH (24) .221/.296/.353 in 82 games last year. Probably the 'weak link' in this young group but still a 3.5 star guy. Right now we feel is at about 2.5 stars. Plays an outstanding 2B, very good 3B and SS. Tick above average speed but his supreme tool is his eye, plate discipline. A .400+ OBP guy. He will strike out his share, but also draw walks. Still has room to grow, looks to be a 15-20 HR ceiling, but will hit 2nd or at the bottom and handle himself. The 8th overall pick in the 2030 draft out of Wichita State by Boston, was acquired for 4 players and a pick in May of last year. Entered last season as the leagues 11th best prospect. 3B) Jonas Heeren LHH (23) A career .323/.361/.463 hitter in 304 games with 41 HR's and 149 RBI's. Prime time bat from the left side. Now capable enough to move away from any sort of platoon. Potential batting title in his near future, hit .350/.378/.508 in a stellar sophomore campaign. Issue is defense. An ok defender, made too many errors last year, 16, but improved his zone rating from -0.3 to +5.4 and his EFF from .998 to 1.021. 32nd overall pick in 2026 out of Sulphur Springs HS right here in Sulphur Springs Texas. Led the Coastal League, at 22, in total hits last season with 202. SS) Dave Peterson Switch (23) A 5'11” sparkplug. A supreme defender at 2B, SS and elite at 3B as well. Hit a combined .267/.304/.412 in 94 games last year between here and Dayton. Still maturing, and our guys say 4.5 to 5 star ceiling. Dominant from the left side, his defense will keep him in vs LHP depending on how we handle roster spots and our utility roles. His versatility is huge. 35+ doubles 30 HR bat with 3 or 4 hole capability. Sent 5 players and a pick to Dayton in the 8 player deal. Entered last year as the leagues #33 prospect. 1B Bryant Mathews (RH 27) and Utility man Ron Wilton (RH 31) are the backups. You might remember Wilton as an INF prospect I acquired while in Chicago. After looking at the roster I needed a good bat that had versatility around the infield, and he was on the market. Signed to a 3 year 2.29M dollar deal in early March. Mathews had an outstanding year as the defensive guy and as a bat off the bench, hitting .311/.383/.524 in 46 games and 103 AB's with 6 HR's and 18 RBI's. OUTFIELD Jeffrey Bullock LHH (25) Got some MVP votes in a record breaking year. Hit .302/.350/.614 with a club record 53 home runs. Has seen his HR totals go up 3 straight years, 35, 36 to 53 last year. Has played in 458 of 486 possible games with 332 RBI's and 124 HR's. While I don't expect a repeat on the average side of things, his 20 power is legit. Main issue is the need to replace his defense in tight games, losing his bat. 28th overall pick out of New York Tech in 2027. Below average defender at both corner spots. Jarne Weijers LHH (26) Hit a combined .298/.350/.495 in 148 games between New Orleans and here. Sent 3 players and a pick to the Voodoo to grab him. First real meaningful player I dealt for, and a guy I expect to be here in a year or two when this team starts to contend. Was a gold glove winner in RF in 2029, and made his 1st all star team last year. A minor league FA signed out of the Netherlands in 2023 by New Orleans. Supreme corner outfielder who's going to see some CF until we can lock in a permanent option. Outstanding runner (stole 39 last year) with big power, 32 HR's. Quincy Hutchison Switch (25) Felt like we stole him from San Jose in the January deal. The Wizards took him 15th overall in 2029 out of Missouri State, he didn't sign and then was taken 18th overall by Providence the following year, entered 2031 as the leagues 36th prospect. Dealt to San Jose at the deadline last year. Switch hitter who's preferred side is left, but handles the bat more than ok from the right side to be able to play every day. Very good left fielder, above average CF and can play RF. Top of the order bat, being able to hit anywhere from leadoff to cleanup, with 30+ HR pop. Ricardoi Mena (RHH 25) and Jose Cruz (LHH 26) are the other 2 outfielders and Lowell Cook (RHH 26) will DH. Right now Cruz is slotted to play RF vs RHP, with Bullock DH'ing and Weijers in left. I am unsure of how Cook is going to take this, but we'll see. Vs RHP it looks like this: CF (S) Hutchison LF (L) Weijers 3B (L) Heeren DH (L) Bullock 1B (R) Craig RF (L) Cruz SS (S) Peterson C (L) Perez 2B (R) Ramirez Vs LHP LF (R) Mena SS (R) Wilton 1B (R) Craig RF (L) Bullock DH (R) Cook C (S) Irwin 2B (R) Ramirez CF (S) Hutchison 3B (L) Heeren

Draft pool revealed
DRAFT POOL REVEALED
Managed to swap around and again grab the 1st overall pick. Through trades I have picks 1, 50 and 54. Ortiz, Hartman and Crawford all look like viable top picks. Ortiz feels like a can't miss, but I am thinking Hartman is the ace I am short. If I could find a way to trade for the 2nd overall pick, I'd do it. Hartman and Ortiz, at 15m in bonus money, would accelerate the rebuild big time.

With Jose Cruz struggling (.183/.264/.341) as bad as he is and a marginal defensive player, I need an upgrade. I will shop him but also have an option left if needed, if the claim goes through. TRADE NEWS-In a complicated deal, involving 7 players and a draft choice, I have shipped OF Jose Cruz, and 3 pitchers with minor league 1B Antonio Paredes to Providence for P George Horne and top OF prospect Jose Sanchez. None of these pitchers were going to be a part of this clubs future and Cruz has been replaced by Keith with Sanchez now being the prospect on the way for that spot. I'd like to have kept the pick but Sanchez is a top draft pick, far better than a 6th rounder.
