J. R. Devoe
J. R. Devoe was the business manager for the 1922 Cleveland Tate Stars. Since this photo came from a Cleveland newspaper in 1920 and because he's pictured here as a catcher, it makes me wonder if this is the same player who is listed as unknown-first-name Devoe, who caught for the Philadelphia Giants (1905), Chicago American Giants (1915), and Chicago Giants (1918).
P.S. As of January, 2019, the seamheads.com website lists the Negro Leagues catcher as James R. "Josh" Devoe, who played one game with the Chicago Giants in 1919.
