Joey Boston is their #1 starter... Boston was 20-3 with a 3.19 ERA this season... he could win, but I don't think they have anyone for game 5... Sherm Boswell (10-6/3.51 ERA) is just an average starter... he did not do well in game 2, losing to Priit Laur 8-4... Carlos Santa Ana, Valka's top pitcher will go in game 4 against Boston... Santa Ana is their best with a 15-6 mark this season and a very good 2.89 ERA.... but he is beatable... in the opening game Santa Ana won 9-5, but he gave up a lot of hits.
Stoner just has to hit with runners in scoring position... it will be hard for the Silver Sox to win 3 in a row. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-25-2021 at 07:50 PM. |

Tuesday, October 4, 2072 ALL 3 SERIES GO THE LIMIT IN IPA FIRST ROUND PLAYOFFS... GAMES 5 SET FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON Valmara may have won the easy way in a sweet 3-game sweep over Wynnamac, but the other 3 series are going to the 5-game maximum to decide who stays in the IPA playoffs and who goes home for the season. Stoner and La Claire recorded their second straight wins to even it up with Valka and Turon... the Silver Sox mopped up on the Blackhawks 8-0 and the Lynx won a tight match with the Typhoons 4-2... Red Bluff avoided elimination with a 5-2 victory over the Hartsdale Hellcats. IPA Stars of the Day |

3 Game Fives! It would be amazing if all of the road teams can pull off victories, especially Stoner.

Wednesday, October 5, 2072 ALL ROAD TEAMS TRIUMPH IN 5TH GAMES The home-team advantage didn't mean anything in first-round action in the Islandian Pro Alliance playoffs... all 3 road clubs triumphed in the decisive 5th game of the series... Stoner outgunned Valka 8-7 in the Ruthlandian Union, while Red Bluff blistered Hartsdale 8-1 and Turon trimmed La Claire 5-2 in the Tycobbian Union. Islandian Pro Alliance Stars of the Games |

Thursday, October 6, 2072 RU AND TU TITLES UP FOR GRABS, BEGINNING THIS SATURDAY IN VALMARA AND TURON Well, well, well... what do you know... the postseason pundits did a darn good job of prognosticating this year... the Islandian Pro Alliance Union titles series will feature Pro Cup favorite #1 Turon, #3 pick Valmara, #4 ranked Stoner and the 5th choice Red Bluff... only the #2 selection is missing... the Valka Blackhawks lost to the Silver Sox in the Ruthlandian Union First Round in a 5-game series. Stoner will go on the road to play Valmara in the Ruthlandian Union Title Series... it will be the Red Bluff Red Sox and the Turon Typhoons in the Tycobbian Union Title clash... the Vipers and Typhoons will host the first two games. The Ruthlandian contenders are more offensive-minded than the Tycobbian challengers... no surprise, but teams that get good pitching and good hitting usually do quite well in the IPA playoffs... that is why Turon is favored to win... the Typhoons excelled in all areas of the game... Valmara is a lot like the Typhoons, strong on the mound and probably a little stronger with the bats... Stoner is the best when it come to hitting... the Silver Sox will win or lose based on their mound corps... the Red Sox are totally dependant on its pitching staff, strong defense and modest home-run power. It looks like there will be more 5-game series in the IPA second round... both series are tough to call... lean toward Valmara and Turon to advance to the IPA Pro Cup Series... Stoner might have an outside chance to make it... Red Bluff looks to be the weaker of all the teams... all in all and after all is said and done, we should have two highly-entertaining and tightly-contested playoff series. Stoner at Valmara: Joey Boston (20-3/3.19 ERA) vs Jaromir Kaminski (19-12/3.19 ERA) Red Bluff at Turon: Angus McDade (14-10/3.24 ERA) vs Skippy Mulroy (12-7/3.42 EA) Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-28-2021 at 06:31 PM. |

Sunday, October 9, 2072 STONER AND TURON TRIUMPH IN IPA TITLE SERIES OPENERS The Stoner Silver Sox and the Turon Typhoons to a step in the right direction and triumphed in the first games of the IPA Title Series... in the Ruthlandian Union Title Round the Silver Sox nudged past the Valmara Vipers 5-3 and in the Tycobbian Title Series the Turon Typhoons nipped the Red Bluff Red Sox 2-1 in another nip-and-tucker... all postseason series in the Islandian Pro Alliance are best-of-five series. Wednesday, October 12, 2072 STONER UP BY 2-0 IN RUTHLANDIAN TITLE SERIES, TURON AND RED BLUFF SPLIT IN TYCOBBIAN SERIES UH OH! Maybe the unheralded Stoner Silver Sox are better than we think... could they really be legitimate threats to win the Pro Cup? they have now beaten favored Valmara decisively in the first two games of the Ruthlandian Union Title Series... one more victory and Stoner will be in the Pro Cup Series... it's all even in the Tycobbian Union Title Series... Turon and Red Bluff split the first two games. Stoner trounced Valmara 8-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five RU Title Series... in the TU Title Series Red Bluff tied it up at one game apiece with a 5-4 victory. Both series will now switch to Stoner and Red Bluff for the next set of games... games 3 and 4 will be in those two towns if they are needed... Valmara is in dire danger of being swept by the Silver Sox... Red Bluff is guaranteed those two home games. IPA Stars of the Games |

Wednesday, October 12, 2072 RED-HOT STONER SWEEPS VALMARA IN RU TITLE SERIES... TURON GAINS 2-1 EDGE IN TU TITLE SERIES OVER RED BLUFF The darling of the Islandian Pro Alliance baseball world has made the Pro Cup Series... the red-hot Stoner Silver Sox eliminated vaunted Valmara in a 3-0 sweep to advance to the IPA title series... Stoner socked it to the Vipers in the third game of the series 6-2... the Silver Sox have never won the Pro Cup. The Tycobbian title is still up for grabs... Turon trimmed Red Bluff 2-1 in game 3 to move ahead 2 games to one in the best-of-five series. IPA Stars of the Games |

Red Bluff and Turon have pretty good pitching... the Stoner staff will have to step it up a bit... don't think they will hit as well as they did against Wynnamac and Valmara.... should be very close series for that reason.
Then again... the Silver Sox may hit anybody well... 1 ot 8 in the lineup they are rock-solid hitters. |
