Despite a 9-2 loss to the Washington Nationals, the New York Mets are the champions of the National League East Division.
The Mets (92-66) lead the second-place Philadelphia Phillies by five games with four games left in the season. New York also has sewn up the No. 2 seed in the NL playoffs. The Dodgers (103-55) long ago wrapped up the top seed. Cincinnati (83-74) owns a 1.5 game edge over Pittsburgh in the National League Central, but sit 8.5 games in back of the Mets. The playoff appearance will be the third straight for New York. However, it is their first NL East title since 2015. |

The New York Yankees wrapped up their third straight American League East Division championship with a win on Thursday while the Minnesota Twins have clinched one of the AL wild cards.
The Yankees (91-67) closed the door on the Toronto Blue Jays division-title hopes with a 2-1 win over Baltimore. New York leads the Jays by 4.5 games with four games left in the regular season. The Yankees will likely be the No. 3 sed in the AL playoffs, as the Los Angeles Angels (102-56) have already sewn up the top spot. The AL Central champion, Cleveland (95-63), leads the Yankees by four games with four games left in the race for seed No. 2. Meanwhile, Minnesota (83-74) earned the second AL wild card with a 9-2 win over Detroit. |

For the first time since 2015, the Pittsburgh Pirates are in the postseason after a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Oct. 6 gave them the National League Central Division title.
The Pirates (86-76) finished just a game ahead of the Cincinnati Reds. Pittsburgh last made the playoffs in 2015 as a wild card, the third of three straight wild-card appearances. The Pirates last division title came back in 1992. Pittsburgh will its fellow wild card, the Atlanta Braves, in the first round of the playoffs. |

The Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers both clinched wild-card berth son the final day of the regular season.
The Braves earned their spot with a win, defeating Miami 9-4 in their 162nd game. Atlanta (86-76) finished the season in third place in the National League East Division. The Braves will face the champions of the NL Central Division, the Pittsburgh Pirates, in the first-round of the playoffs. Atlanta is in the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season, but its first as a wild card. Despite dropping their regular-season finale 5-3 to the Seattle Marines, Texas is back in the playoffs for the first time since 2016 with a wild-card berth. The Rangers (79-83) finished second in the AL West, some 26 games behind the Los Angeles Angels, but a game in front of the Houston Astros for the final spot in the AL playoff field. Texas will face the AL East champion New York Yankees in the opening round of the playoffs. |
