Steve Molitar just got dropped twice and stopped in the 10th round. He complained to the referee, Mike Ortega, that he was fine. Had he done so standing upright instead of on his back, Ortega may have listened.

Chris John retains his WBC Featherweight belt with a 10th round TKO in Toronto and Molitar ponders his future on his back as the ringside doctor attends to him.

I'm surprised Molitor lasted that long.

Hey Jim, I used the Fernando Vargas you rated (with the 11/11 CF) to finally dethrone long time IBO JMW champ - Julio Cesar Vasquez.

JC dropped Vargas in the 9th with a left cross for a 7 count & it looked like Vargas might get taken out in the 10th. Instead he charged out in the 10th & battered JC & ended it with a left hook. At the time of the stoppage, JC was up 89-81 & 88-83 on the 2 US judges but the Canadian had Vargas up 86-85.

The last guy to beat JC was Oscar when he knocked out JC with a right cross in the 8th after taking a beating from JC most of the fight. Floyd Mayweather Sr. was in Oscar's corner (and taught him to throw that R-cross) & was also in Fernando's. I'd read that Vargas might hire Floyd Sr. in real if he comes back to fight Camacho, Jr.

It's a good thing he wasn't facing a big puncher!

Good for Vargas! I use that rating until he gets stopped for the first time, then, I use the other rating to simulate the past-prime version.

And, as it just so happens, the past-prime version may be getting another title shot. This time, it'll be against Corey Spinks (who I also re-rated).

Sugar Shane's Bitter Defeat

This just in from tonight's live action at Title Bout Island (the 15-billion dollar man made island - just off the coast of the Jersey Shore) - The host of tonight's "Reach Out & Punch Someone" card featuring the main event between Zab "Super" Judah and Floyd Mayweather for the undisputed Jr. Welterweight Kingdom.

Just moments ago, Shane's bid for a piece of the Welterweight title came to an end against Ricardo Mayorga when Mosley suffered suffered an injury to his right hand. Mosley injured his left hand in the opening round. The subsequent injury to his right, forced a stoppage of the fight in the 8th round. Shane's luck is the worse I've seen in quite some time.

A year ago (almost to the day), he suffered a horrific gash over the eye in his bout against Floyd Mayweather which forced the stoppage of the fight in the 3rd round.

Next up...

Judah vs. Mayweather!

Zab Judah and Floyd Mayweather are both making their way into the ring at the same time, as per the heated contract negotiations!

Zab Judah co-trained for this bout by his father and Floyd Mayweather Sr. who said throughout the training camp, "My son must be stopped!" Joel Judah and Floyd Mayweather Sr. will be working Judah's corner tonight.

In the blue corner, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be going his uncle, Roger Mayweather who Floyd insists, "He's the greatest trainer in the world!"

Judah also holds a win over Shane Mosley at 147 when Mosley was stopped on a cut after 7 rounds and the fight went to the score cards....

Two-Ton Tony Galento and other celebrities are at Ringside. The fight is taking place in the main arena at Title Bout Island. The dome is open. It's a clear night. Over 78,000 fans in attendance, despite the economy.

Hey, there's Jack Nicholson.

Round 1

The fights gets off to a fast start. Blinding combinations are exchanged in the first 30-seconds. Both fighters are extremely fast! Judah misses with three punches in a row and gets countered by crisp combinations from Mayweather. Judah lands a blazing right with seconds remaining that wobbles Mayweather momentarily and follows up with a combination at the bell!

Electric opening round!

Round 2

Both fighters slipping, sliding, juking and moving as the 2nd round gets underway. Mayweather scores with crisp punches at a distance and Judah's answers seem about a half-step behind. A right hand causes Judah to hold in the closing seconds of the round.

Round 3

Judah rocks Mayweather several times with blistering combinations! Mayweather's in great shape, though, and recovers quickly. Judah's expending a lot of energy early in this fight. It's going to be interesting to see if burns out or not. Mayweather countered throughout the round but isn't matching Judah's work-rate.

Round 4

The violent opera of speed and athleticism continues in the 4th. Judah gets sloppy midway through the round and pays the price of leather. Judah and Mayweather land stinging punches throughout the 4th. Mayweather seems to have a slight edge in accuracy.

Round 5

A blazing Mayweather combination opens a bad cut over Judah's right eye early in the round. It doesn't look too good. Judah, bothered by the cut, takes a lot of punches and suddenly looks vulnerable for the first time in his career!

Round 6

Judah gets dropped by a counter hook a minute into the 6th! He's up at 5 and trades shots with Mayweather. With seconds remaining in the round, he's dropped a 2nd time by a straight right on the button! He's up but looks bad. His eye is starting to swell (the same one that's cut).

The crowd's going crazy!

After Mayweather dropped Zab the 2nd time, he struck a pose for the cameras!

Round 7

Wow!! A huge turn of events! Mayweather comes out going for the kill and at the advice of Mayweather Sr., Judah does the same! Judah catches Mayweather off-guard and rips him with an uppercut that staggers him badly. Judah rains a storm off leather down upon Floyd and Mayweather barely escapes the round with his left eye badly swollen! Huge round for Judah. His eye's starting to bleed again, though, and it looks like he's going to have to go for broke to win this fight!

Round 8

Judah and Mayweather punish each other throughout the 8th. Judah's really loading up on his punches. Mayweather seems to be conserving a little bit of energy waiting for Judah to run out of gas. Judah's eye isn't going to make it to the championship rounds... and neither is his stamina. Right now, though, I have him ahead by two rounds!
