I thought one with the A's would be even crueller than that tbh.
Maybe I should change it to one.

Its alright but thanks for offering.

Its been a rough year for my Angels. I hate our GM, Bill Stoneman. He has done nothing to make the team better.

Its a cool pic though.

Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has admitted injured striker Michael Owen may not play at all this season.

Owen, 26, ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament in England's 2-2 draw against Sweden at the recent World Cup and is set to have an operation.

"It's a long term injury. I don't know if he'll play again this season," Roeder told BBC Radio Newcastle.

"He's getting the best possible treatment and will have the best surgeon in the world operating on him."

Roeder added: "Michael has an injury that will take a fair bit of time to repair. If we put a date on it and we say that he'll be back by next March, and then he's not fit, then it will cause more problems."

Read somewhere that they couldn't operate on it at first because of the swelling of the ligaments and such, not being a doctor I have no idea how long this swelling takes to go down.

I did my ACL a few years back but didn't need surgery just a brace for awhile and although it did't stop me in everyday life, but it was never the same playing football plus you find yourself not going into tackles and such 100% so I quit playing.

So I can't even begin to think what goes through someones mind like Owen who's had more damage than I ever had and plays at a level way higher than I did and for a living which I didn't.

It was very much a regional competition back then, with the Football League being limited to the midlands/northwest. Although it was the first league formed - for the record inspired by baseball in America - rival leagues rapidly sprang up, the London League amongst them. In a bit of sporting synchronicity the same year the American Association was absorbed by the NL the Football League merged with the Football Alliance. Difference was the Football League used the new clubs to create a second tier with promotion and relegation, and the sports took separate paths leading to their very different modern formats.

Well they hardly cripple these clubs do they? The fans get an enjoyable ride then when it is over simply reform back at their natural level. Take Canvey as case in point; pre-Kind they’d never been higher than the Essex Senior League. They’ve had a great time living way beyond their means, and now they find themselves with a reformed club in tier eight, still a higher level of competition than the club has ever reached under its own steam.

These clubs don’t suffer. They get a great ride and simply return to whence they came. It is the rest of the clubs, those who are well run and live within their means who suffer. Take the well run Isthmian clubs as case in point. They’ve seen the promotion places in their leagues being blocked off by a succession of well backed clubs living way beyond their means. From Dagenham & Redbridge, Canvey Island, through Hornchurch, Braintree and Fisher they’ve had to grit their teeth watching boom and bust clubs take all the glory. This season they’ve got to contend with Jeff King and half the Canvey team at Chelmsford and - embarrassingly for me - Mark Goldberg throwing money around like confetti at Bromley. It is the ordinary clubs who deserve sympathy.

There is no excuse for clubs with home stadiums to go bankrupt. The running costs for non-league clubs are miniscule, especially next to the vastly inflated ticket prices of today. It is the strictly optional cost - players - that kill non-league finances.

Well I'm not a fan am I, and you're obviously in a better place to comment - so thank you for making me realise I got way over my station.

I'm sorry I couldn't quote more on your well thought out response to my folly, but as I have little knowledge of anything, I can't.
Please take this as being serious, I am not being sarcastic.

Wigan are in trouble Mark "The Dark Omen" Lawrenson as predicted that Wigan would have a good season, this is the same Mark "The Dark Omen" Lawrenson who during Wigan's run of 9 unbeaten games predicted either a defeat or a draw, then when he jumped on the bandwagon and started to predict wins for them thats when they started to lose he also predicted at the start of last season that Wigan would easily go down.

I don't see any point in arguing something with someone who is obviously more informed than I am.
I get things wrong all the time - I even had to change the avatar after getting that wrong.

Paul, man, please dont take it all so seriously. Imagine the topic as a big picture made up of many pieces. You bring alot of pieces. He brought a lot of pieces. Noobs to the game like me bring no pieces. Having a couple of highly informed people discussing the topic gives the rest of us a very good three dimensional look at the issue.

And you certainly didnt get the avi wrong. I had taken it as you were being a gentleman and changed it out of kindness and consideration.

Now toughen up that skin a little.

I meant I like this one better, but now nobody will understand what the posts earlier about the previous one are on about (no Angels players in this one). So therefore I got it wrong, didn't I? (or maybe I was wrong to change it to this one? )

This is an odd one. And it got even weirder today, when Chelsea put in a complaint about Bates's conduct to the FA for "bringing the game into disrepute".

Quote:
Chelsea have filed a complaint with the Football Association against former Blues chairman Ken Bates and Leeds United for bringing the game into disrepute.

The Premiership champions made the decision to take action against current Leeds chairman Bates and the Championship outfit for comments he made about the Stamford Bridge club.

Bates has already reported his former club to the Football Association, the Premier League, the Football League and Fifa after alleging that Chelsea tapped-up three Leeds youngsters in Danny Rose, Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo.

The situation was then exacerbated when Bates claimed The Blues had made an illegal approach for 10-year-old Leeds trainee Lewis Coyle.

Bates's latest comments about Chelsea have upset the West Londoners, with The Blues confirming their decision to take formal action against their former chairman.

"There are football procedures in place to deal with that specific (tapping-up) dispute," read a statement on Chelsea's official website.

"Chelsea will comply with those, will not discuss the case publicly other than our previously stated position and will contest it vigorously.

"However, there are also existing football rules that prohibit rude, insulting and inappropriate comments being made about other club owners, chairmen and personnel.

"In particular, we are concerned by the implications of Mr Bates's reference to the Chelsea directors as 'a bunch of shysters from Siberia' and the discriminatory nature of this in terms of race, nationality and religion.

"Such comments have no place in football, a sport which is rightly committed to fighting racial intolerance and bigotry.

"Chelsea believes these comments are part of a personal campaign being waged by Mr. Bates against our club and his actions cannot be allowed to masquerade erroneously as being in the interests of football, as he claims."
