The St. Louis River Walkers have learned that starting pitcher Agustin Perdomo and second baseman Ryan Wibbenmeyer have both exercised their player options and will return to the team for the 2041 season.
That probably wasn't the best of the news for the Walkers, as Wibbenmeyer missed much of the season with injuries while Perdomo competed at well below expectations.
In his third season in St. Louis, Wibbenmeyer played in just 71 games/64 starts during which he batted .295 with 16 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
The 32-year-old was on the injured list three times and last played on Sept. 3 when he suffered a hip injury.
Wibbenmeyer, who will make $17 million during the 2041 season, isn't expected to resume working out until around Jan. 1.
Perdomo, 32, made 21 starts in his second season with the Walkers and went 4-7 with a 5.27 ERA.
The right-hander will make $19 million during the 2041 season.

The St. Louis River Walkers have named Brodie Arriola as its hitting coach.
He replaces some guy whose name I forget.
Name I forget took over as the Walkers, hitting coach during the 2040 season and while the team's batting average slightly improved, it's power at the plate plummeted.
St. Louis finished the season ranked 11th (out of 14 teams) in batting average (.240), 13th in runs scored (604), 14th in batting WAR (9.4) and14th in home runs (135).
Arriola, 39, is considered a neutral as a hitting coach, who works well with almost all players.

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the hiring of Luis Rojas as their bench coach.
Rojas, 59, replaces Stefano Belmonte as the team's bench coach.
Belmonte was hired by the Walkers during the 2040 season, and the team went 49-51 in the games he was with the team.
But his inability to get along with some of the team's top players forced the decision to remove him.
Rojas has spent the bulk of his career as a minor league manager.
