What's Happening in the Whole Wide USA in 1951

Here's a sampling of what's happening in EC's real world at the age of 10:

January 1: Patti Page, the Singing Rage, enjoys her first week at the top to the music charts on Billboard and Cashbox with her number one song, "Tennessee Waltz"... she eventually sold 15 million copies of the classic song... it STILL sounds great today after 68 years.

January 4: Wow!... I didn't realize how bad the Korean War was going for the US and its allies... in the Third Battle of Seoul (South Korea's capital) the Chinese and North Korean forces captured the city for the second time (they has lost the Second Battle of Seoul in September, 1950).

February 27: The Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting Presidents to two terms, is ratified... don't you wish they had included Congress, too... I'm really tired of the professional politicians that are in office for decades and decades... but Congress is not going to do anything that hurts them personally... they make sure they stay in office, get great insurance, retirement and pamper themselves in gratuitous fashion.

Monday, March 12, 1951

DUTTON, JACKSON WIN AGAIN IN FIRST DIVISION
It's still the same old game of baseball... Dutton and Jackson were promoted from the NIRL Second Division to the NIRL First Division and they are still winning baseball teams... both have captured their first two games in the new league... Dutton edged New Yerby 2-1 Sunday afternoon at home... the Yanks were the second-best team in the First Division last year... and the Jackalopes routed Stockdale 13-6... the Mustangs came in fifth last year... in other action last year's champ Kofa pulled out a last-ditch 6-5 victory over Union Heights, erupting for three runs in the ninth... the Hackers wound up in the third spot in the standings in 1950.

Sorry, I must be old... actually I am old... I forgot to wrap up the real baseball world in 1950... so I'm going to backtrack and go back in time... and fix the oversight... 9-year-old EC would have taken care of this... he has a real good memory.
