NEWS-The Avalanche won today, 16-2 over Edmonton. Raul Aguilar (.343-16-52) hit a grand slam and Jorge Viera was 2-5 2B (29) 3 Runs. Cole Martin hit his 25th HR in a 2-4 3 RBI day (84) and Stan Hall tossed a CG 6-hitter, striking out 11 to move to 16-1 2.45. The win was their 15th in a row, moving them to an otherworldly 73-11.... Oh, the game was 3-2 Alaska entering the 9th, Mike Lewis pitched the 1st 8, and was down 3-2, they scored 13 runs in the top half.

BIG GAMES-Tulsa's Robbie Caine with the years 1st no-hitter.
It's the 36th no-hitter in league history, Tulsa's 2nd and the 1st time in club history Corpus Christi has been no-hit.

Brooklyn acquired Petty just last week from El Paso, and they turn him around to the Iron Pigs for a good IF.
Not sure anyone gets what the White Caps are doing, unless it was to open up some room in the minors. Toner is a very good veteran pitcher, maybe they plan on making a run next year.
San Jose grabs a monster prospect for two guys not many know about. Anderson was the 2nd round pick and McCorkill a 3rd rounder for the Sharks 2 years ago. Both are now the top prospects in the Black Sox organization at 1B and as a reliever. Both reported to A ball.

Dallas manages to unload unhappy superstar Alvin Williams, and gets a truck load of prospects in return. This deal only even remotely works if the Hooks resign him as he's a free agent at years end. He's a career .301/.349/.454 hitter in 731 games. A GG winner in 2028. The curious thing though, is Corpus Christi is 6 out, 4.5 in back of the wild card, and they lead the Coastal League in Runs, 3rd in AVG, 2nd in OBP and 9th in HR's. 3rd in SB's too. Their starting pitching is a wreck after Drake and Montgomery (14th in ERA). I would think those prospects could have fetched a starter.

Take a look, yup, 2.5 games in back of the final wild card spot I am. I expected to play close to .500 ball and that was before I knew the 51's were the 2nd coming of the '27 Yankees.

INJURY NEWS-Huge news out of Alaska. 23 year old phenom Jose Valencia will miss the next 12-14 months after undergoing UCL surgery. He skyrocketed up the system after being acquired in the mega deal with the Knights (Drake, Hernandez). Was 19-4 last year in AA, 1-0 in AAA and started this season in the Avalanche pen. He went into the rotation, was 6-2 in 16 games, 9 starts, 68.1 IP 54 H 72 K's and 20 walks. David Rodgers will re-enter the rotation, he's 8-0 3.34.

Speaking of Alaska, they won 2-0 yesterday to move to 86-14. They did so on a combined 2-hitter. RJ went 8-1-0-0-1-14 on 114 pitches. Casas got his 31st save. Randy has now made 21 starts, thrown 164 innings and yielded just 77 hits to 66 walks, with 216 K's. He's yielding a staggering 4.23 H/9 and has surpassed his VORP of 63.1 last year, with 2+ months to go. Over the past 2 seasons he's made 54 starts, thrown 395.1 IP, given up 242 H, walked 164 and struck out a mind blowing 530 batters for an ERA of 2.73. This year LHH have just 13 hits in 160 official at bats (.081), with 76 K's and 6 BB's. They've hit 2 home runs off him. Roberto Berino of Providence and Mauro Ibarbia of New York and only 1 batter has hit 2 home runs in a game off him in the past 54 starts, Noel Bertrand of New Hampshire, he drove in all 6 runs in a 6-3 loss with 2 3 run home runs.

A ton of trades this week as the deadline is fast approaching.

Takes one to get one. Ward is a player many feel is headed to stardom, but Fresno pays in RP Ron McKinzie and one of the premier arms in the minors in Bill White, the 3rd overall pick out of Kalani HS in Hawaii in 2028. A 6'5” beast. Houston took Ward with the 12th overall pick out of Georgetown in 2027, he was the IBL's 14th ranked prospect heading into 2029 when he tore up AAA. Supreme defender in LF and CF, decent runner with a bat that's still growing. Scouts peg him as a .290-25+ HR guy with extremely good On base skills.

Dallas throws a pair of deals out there, this year and likely the next 2 or so, lost. Rios is a very good prospect, El Paso is looking for pen help.
Two teams swapping veterans in the 2nd deal. Green Bay looking for some OF depth.

Moore is a very good receiver who can hit. Spent 7+ years in Chicago as a backup before grabbing the full time job, for the 1st time, last year in Dayton. He's a career .300/.367/.425 hitter in 450 games with 33 HR's. Brooklyn's 27 year old catcher Gabriel Benitez is struggling defensively and is down to .202 on the year in 92 games. Delgado moves right into the Providence lineup at SS. Long is a flamethrower, taken 63rd overall in the 2028 draft by the Patriots, out of Yonkers HS, NY. He heads to Class A Huntington.



You'd think a team with an .853 winning percentage would be standing pat. Not Alaska, they deal a very good backup in Castillanos, who will take over the every day job in Staten Island, to fill the hole left when Rodgers went into the rotation to replace Valencia. Staten Island thought enough of Francisco that Alaska managed to snag a 20 year old bomber in 1B Nate Cook, the Yanks 2nd rounder last year (67th overall)

El Paso sends another top prospect out the door, this time to San Jose in to acquire OF Santiago Gonzalez. An OF (all 3 spots) and a 3B, good bat, switch hitter, as good a RF as there is. Rutledge is a top shelf LH SP prospect with 3+ pitches and outstanding control.

The Bulldogs grab an outstanding catcher in Daniel Johnson while Houston plugs a hole with Tamura and a decent prospect in Owens. The Roughriders are apparently giving the everyday job behind the dish to 25 year old Yu Lok. Anyone that's seen him play say the only legitimate comparison is Johnny Bench or Yadier Molina defensively. All his tools rate 20+ defensively.

Kinda under the radar is the season Vegas is having. At 81-27 they're as well balanced a team outside of Alaska, that exists. I am expecting those two to meet for it all.

Bullock, Silver Stars reach agreement on a 4 year extension.



As an arbitration eligible player having another monster season this made too much sense not to pursue. He was looking at 5+ million in arbitration this winter and we got him at base salaries of 4.3/5.3/7.3 and 9.3 through the 2035 season when he'll be just 29 years old. He's having a career year this year from and average and OBP perspective but he's hit 35, 36 and this year 34 home runs. He's going to help anchor the middle of this lineup with Heeren.

Sacramento swipes an IBL infielder in O'Sullivan and a top tier prospect in Kelley while Chicago gets a monster power bat in Miller. He'll have to DH, he's limited in the field, but he can hit the ball a long way, and is just 25.

New York makes a pair of deals, the 1st sending 1B/DH Ivan Rodriguez to Green Bay for 2 good young prospects. Rodriguez slides right into the cleanup spot in Green Bay.
They then mange to grab a very good young pitcher in Summers (12-8 3.81 last year) but have to give up 2 very good prospects in Widdess and Tinker.

The trade I made with Tulsa was all about moving from 16-17 and maybe later in round 1 next year, to the top of the round. Hopefully top 5. I had a surplus of AAA players, and Dustin Glenn was not working out. Coztana is younger, has a decent arm and a chance to get better.

BULLOCK SETS NEW HR RECORD
25 year old outfielder Jeff Bullock has established a new single season HR mark for the San Antonio Silver Stars. Bullock connected in the 8th inning of a 5-4 loss for his 49th home run of the year, breaking former Silver Star slugger Ron Stokes' mark of 48 set in 2016.
